mewithoutYou has been an iconic presence in heavy indie rock for over a decade. They’ve released five albums to date, each one as surprising and dynamic as the next. Known for his intellectual lyrical style, vocalist Aaron Weiss pens visceral metaphors in his whimsical tales. mewithoutYou’s most recent project, “Pale Horses,” channels the heavy, grittier sound of their early releases. Songs like “Red Cow” and “Mexican War Streets” rumble along with an explosive tension reminiscent of 2004’s “Catch for Us the Foxes”.

+Jonathan Blake he's using a POG to create the organ sounds. He's probably using a reverb pedal of some sort too.

+Jonathan Blake I would say that beside a pog(or similar) and reverb he has a delay on (you can hear it clearly when he kind slides his hand along the strings) and I would not be surprised if he had a touch of vibrato too

+Jared Schroeder One thing people love about these guys is the energy that Rick just slaps around. I'm pretty sure the stick thing is a technique though, if you watch Magic Lantern Days you notice he utilizes it was pretty much a third and forth stick. I've played instruments for a while and know I personally wouldn't be able to do that, but I suck at drums.

Nah, that's just his stage persona. In a live setting he usually does crazy stuff like stuff part of his shirt in his mouth or using the sticks as antlers. When asked why he uses the sticks backwards he usually says it's to stop them from breaking because he is heavy handed.
