So true.
In a sweater poorly knit and an unsuspecting smile
Little Moses drifts downstream in the Nile
A fumbling reply, an awkward rigid laugh
And I'm carried helpless by my floating basket raft
Your flavor in my mind's back and forth between
Sweeter than any wine and bitter as mustard greens
And it's light as dark as honeydew and pumpernickel bread
The trap I set for you seems to have caught my leg instead
Go plow some other field and try and forget my name
We'll see what harvest yields, and, supposing I'd do the same
I planted rows of peas, by the first week of July
They should have come up to my knees
But they were maybe ankle high
Take the fingers from your flute to weave your colored yarns
And boil down your fruit to preserves in mason jars
And the books are overdue and the goats are underfed
The trap I set for you seems to have caught my leg instead
You're a door-without-a-key, a field-without-a-fence
You made a holy fool of me and I've thanked you ever since
And if she comes circling back, we'll end where we'd begun
Like two pennies on the train track, the train crushed into one
But if I'm a crown without a king, if I'm a broken open seed
If I come without a thing, then I come with all I need
No boat out in the blue, no place to rest your head
The trap I set for you seems to have caught my leg instead
I do not exist, I do not exist, I do not exist
I do not exist, I do not exist, I do not exist
I do not exist, I do not exist, I do not exist

I remember hearing this for the first time in my late teens. I'm currently 30 and I don't think I'll ever grow tired of this beautiful masterpiece.
@ArtIsGood4TheSoul I was honestly just listening to these guys and I was like "Wow, La Dispute sounds a lot like them." I absolutely love both MewithoutYou and La Dispute. They are both so lyrically poetic and have such unique sounds.
Saw them live here in Malaysia. Lol loved the drummer
Brilliant song. just keeps me dancing all day long =)
thanks so much for speaking the words straight from my chest
7:10 ny tv on 2001
Watched Life Cycles for the first time today and this song really stuck out to me. I searched for 20 minutes to find it and I'm so glad I did cuz it's amazing.
It's strange. I never listened to them previous to Saturday night. I saw them with underoath and it was truly beautiful.
I love the stories created in this music
I have to say this is song is wonderful, pure magic.
Heard this live at Slims SF Wednesday night 7/27/2012. Amazing.
beautiful song... love the ending fade out too
saw them in bangkok yesterday. Amazing. Love the drummer! :D
life cycles is one of the best MTB movies of all time great song!
Fucking LIFE CYCLES
one of the coolest bike movies ever made. so amazing.
basically the best that happened after the collective had their 3 movies down ;)
Watched it for the first time in a while last night, and can honestly say it's hands down better than all other mtb films. Sound tracks are brilliant, riding is also brilliant, but I think it's the narration that really hits home.
You just made my life better. Thank you sir.
One of best songs in Life Cycles ! Love that ♥
i used to think the same, but if you listen to his writing on the newest cd, and get the references....oh my god..he's an absolute genius. i met Aaron at cornestone this last summer, and it was unreal. amazing band.
Beautiful music that was in a breathtaking movie about the thing I love to do. Yes I think I very much love this song.

This is like the strangest music ever...yet the lyics are pure genius...and the band has been growing on me like crazy lately
I wish there were a lot of good bands like you guys in creating music and lyrics
If I'm a crown without a king
A door without a key
These lyrics are phenomenal, "the trap I set for you seems to have caught my leg instead". Love it! Had to write about it on my blog, Line from a lyric dot blogspot. The title of the blog entry is "Things fall into place".
Wow glad to hear that
I just seen them the other night at house of blues in Houston... I cant say much more but I'm a fukiin fan for life
