  • yeah all the other versions on youtube we're live so yeah
    MewithoutYou For The Win
in a sweater poorly knit and an unsuspecting smile
little moses drifts downstream in the Nile
a fumbling reply, an awkward rigid laugh
I'm carried helpless by my floating basket raft
your flavor in my mind swings back and forth between
sweet rhan any wine and bitter as mustard greens
light and dark as honeydew and pumpernickel bread
the trap I set for you seems to have caught my leg instead!
as you plow some other field try and forget my name
see what harvest yields, and, supposing I'd do the same
I planted rows of peas but by the first week of July
they should have come up to my knees
but they were maybe ankle high
take the fingers from your flute to weave your colored yarns
and boil down your fruit to preserves in mason jars
but now the books are overdueand the goats are underfed
the trap I set for you seems to have caught my leg instead!
    you're a door-without-a-key, a field-without-a-fence
you made a holy fool of me and I've thanked you ever since.
if she comes circling back we'll end where we'd begun
like two pennies on the train track the train crushed into one
or if I'm a crown without a king, if I'm a broken open seed
if I come without a thing, then I come with all I need
no boat out in the blue, no place to rest your head,
the trap I set for you seems to have caught my leg instead!
I do not exist only you exist

It's 2006. I am 19 years old and I have this album on CD and play it every morning I drive my baby brother to his elementary school in my '95 Mitsubishi clunker secondhand SUV. On the days I don't have to be at work for a while we take a detour to get Denny's for breakfast and we sing this song, the last track on the CD together, hitting every note and chord with our voices with precision. Now it's 2021 again and a bittersweet tear comes into my eye remembering such happy times

Do you ever feel something from listening to a song? But you can’t pinpoint exactly what it is? Just a wave of emotion bursts through you. Either happiness or sadness or a little of both? Or maybe none of those at all. Like I said, you can’t pinpoint it. I feel this way when I listen to this song. There’s this bizarre beauty to it that encircles my headspace. I just don’t want to tie any exact words to it because I don’t want to ruin the feeling I get when I listen to it. 🖤

Buying "A-B Life" after being a HUGE youth group kid and fan since hearing Aaron's feature on NJ's "Memphis Will Be Laid to Waste" and later seeing a video for "Bullet To Binary" and relating to the angst and confusion and searching for purpose through my faith and then being a HUGE fan of "Catch for Us the Foxes" and then buying this record and getting into Shane Claiborne's "Irresistible Revolution" and trying to bring up Biblically-valid points from it during youth group Bible study only to get eye-roll'd and not taken seriously to the point that I got disillusioned with the modern church and modern Christianity and decided to wander out "into the world" where I eventually got jaded and became a "heathen" is what brought me here. Sidenote: still love me some Jesus despite how awful I've gotten.

Dude I get it: the church, she's broken I have a similar story, but don't forget that She is also being restored, and Jesus loves them. Jesus loves you. Jesus Loves. Its what he does, He restores, he heals, He brings hope to the hopeless purpose to the purposeless. Life IS messy. and following God is hard we were told that. And yeah they aren't perfect and neither are you, and neither am I this random brother who stopped and read what you wrote, but we are all being restored Collosians 1 tells that in Christ we are made holy and blameless in God's sight because of Christ's blood. Don't give up on the church, Jesus hasn't and its the only way we know him through the sacrifices he made. Stay strong brother The Holy spirit is in you if you have been adopted into the family of God and He does not forsake his children. pray to him, listen to good music^(these guys are dope), but also uproot bitterness and forgive others because it will wreck your relationships and drive you away from your spiritual family and let me tell ya man. The Enemy would love to isolate you from encouragement and destroy your desire for community that loves Jesus.
Peace to you brother or sister? (you have a really awesome name btw)

In a sweater poorly knit and an unsuspecting smile
Little Moses drifts downstream in the Nile
A fumbling reply, an awkward rigid laugh
And I'm carried helpless by my floating basket raft
Your flavor in my mind's back and forth between
Sweeter than any wine and bitter as mustard greens
And it's light as dark as honeydew and pumpernickel bread
The trap I set for you seems to have caught my leg instead
Go plow some other field and try and forget my name
We'll see what harvest yields, and, supposing I'd do the same
I planted rows of peas, by the first week of July
They should have come up to my knees
But they were maybe ankle high
Take the fingers from your flute to weave your colored yarns
And boil down your fruit to preserves in mason jars
And the books are overdue and the goats are underfed
The trap I set for you seems to have caught my leg instead
    You're a door-without-a-key, a field-without-a-fence
You made a holy fool of me and I've thanked you ever since
And if she comes circling back, we'll end where we'd begun
Like two pennies on the train track, the train crushed into one
But if I'm a crown without a king, if I'm a broken open seed
If I come without a thing, then I come with all I need
No boat out in the blue, no place to rest your head
The trap I set for you seems to have caught my leg instead
I do not exist, I do not exist, I do not exist
I do not exist, I do not exist, I do not exist
I do not exist, I do not exist, I do not exist
I do not exist, only you exist, I do not exist
