Mine had fairly large plants/trees growing in them and they were packed full of decades dirt/gunk so I got this pressure washer extension for gutter cleaning and went to town on it. My basement went from leaking 9 out of 10 storms to only once in the last year. All the water would just drip over the edge of the gutter and seep next to the foundation but now it flows down the spout and into this catch basin and then out a long tube and then into a little trench lined with sand and gravel away from the house. I didn't use any ladders or climb on the roof at all.They are due for another flushing.
always cleans your gutters 2x a year for this reason overflow will cause rotted facial board and corners or edges of the roof then when not directed it can lead to major foundation issues especially around houses with grass so try to direct the runoff water from the downspout away from the house as far as possible !
