LOVE how you tied in the "Punt, Pass, and Kick" into the story of him doing all 3 in high school. Youre a great storyteller.
“He had unpaid debts, had been writing bad checks” Love it when Flemlo slips in a line with the rhythm and near-rhyme of a lyric.
I was a kicker from age 6 through senior year of high school. I used those kicking blocks and made 40-50 yd field goals in games and 60-62 yarders during practice. I’ll say switching to off-the-ground it’s a lot harder and took a year to get back to my normal distances.
17:50 one of the first Saints games I remember. My dad was recording the game because of the magnitude of the potential outcome. When that punt happened, he slammed the remote for the VCR and it broke. At the time, the remote was attached to the unit. With it broken, he had to buy a new one. I was 6.
At the time, that was THE most heartbreaking game in Saints history, especially with so much at stake. I was 11 when that game happened. Man, everyone was so heartbroken and upset. Little trivia here : Derland Moore, huge defense tackle for the Saints actually wanted to beat the crap outta Erxleben for missing the tackle. He felt he was totally faking his injury he claims he got in the punt return
Been here since 2019 and I gotta say, you’ve consistently put out quality, polished content that is highly entertaining. The community you’ve cultivated, being thoughtful and considerate, is becoming rarer to see online these days, so thanks for all you do Flem. Enjoy the holidays and take it easy bro!
I'm embarrassed to admit I immediately knew the player and how to spell his name. Damn, I'm old.
Shout out to Sebastian Janikowski! Best first round kicker. ✌️🇺🇸
And perineal loser...

True story... I am the kickers advocate... I've been telling my husband for ten years this position is so disrespected.... It's the position I keep my eye on and my favorite because honestly it's importance is so slept on... But my bday is 04/04 and my husbands is 8/1 so when I saw his prison number (040481)I told my husband I'm so serious about this position the universe is showing it and decided to add you because I'm always talking your ear off about it! Lol... Dope video as always Flemlo! Been rocking with you for four years
I'm with you 100% on this. People give kickers too much hate.
*"I tried, but I missed to the left."*
While taking one's own life is no joke, this was actually hilarious 😂😂😂
Only thing you can do sometimes is joke about it until it stops seeming like an option
I remember him from when he played at Texas. I'm old. Steve Little at Arkansas was also incredible, but his career was sadly ended by a car accident.
Man your content is appreciated. There’s players and stories I never knew about until I came up across your channel a few years back. Keep it up 💪🏻
Crazy part I have lived in Seguin, Port Arthur which is right down the street from Beaumont. I’ve never heard this story.
Salute to Flem for doing the leg work on the story, I will make sure I share this video with people in my area!
I love these flem "a football life" episodes. Hell yeah
The Saints went 8-8 in 1979, they fell off the cliff at 1-15 in 1980, the behind the scene stories of that year deserves a documentary in it's own self
The 79 saints could have made the super bowl if they didn't collapse the last three games of the season
I never realized how long Morten Anderson was in the league for. 25 years is crazy! Even for a kicker!
Yes I remember in the late 80s and 90s
and that reminded me of George Blanda played 27 years and somehow played 40 fewer games than Mort. If he played year 28 he would have won a super bowl and still wouldn't be close in games
You the GOAT... You made a video about a kicker I've never heard of and made it so interesting I had to do my own research on him💯💯💯💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Asking the guy if he tried to self endgame is awful, but to respond with yeah but I missed wide left is CRAZY 💀
I think the crazier part is flemlo goes "he should've taken some accountability with his responses" and I'm like how would you do that with a question like this
@@rexblade504I thought that too and it seems I think like I don't think he got the self harm angel.... I don't think he got the reference. Flemlo is a good dude and wouldn't make light of something like that.
I remember ol dude and had no idea he did hard time. Great story and you're delivery is spot on! Thanks for the hard work
Glad to see the effort you put in by reaching out to younghoe, keep up the good work
Flemlo still the best nfl UA-cam channel by a mile.
This story spoke to me. Having a talent or skill but not honing it and constantly cutting corners instead of working to be better at it. Cant fully explain it in a comment section but this gave me a mental spark. Thank you.
Man this story kinda reminds me of a guy I went to HS with. Dude was 6’3, naturally jacked, probably top 5 fastest humans I’ve seen in the flesh, but bottom 5 work ethic I’ve ever seen. Based on his mood he’d either torch a future D1 corner for shits and giggles or let a 5’8 white kid lock him up cause coach made him run gassers for being late to practice. Ended up falling in with the wrong crowd, expelled senior year, arrested 2 years later :/
Flemlo boutta get to a million 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐
I was 18 when Erxleben, and you can't believe the hype that came with him. The 67-yarder for Texas, who was a tv favorite, made him an instant legend. Being the 1st round draft pick of a team who was everyone's sleeper pick (Muncie and Galbreath were especially hyped as a RB duo) revved up the hype even more. The ill-fated pass didn't really hurt him, but combine that with turning on the TV a week later and hearing Gowdy and Stram talking about the injury, and Galbreath was place-kicking, etc. and the national media just disappeared.
Hey Flemlo,
All the sudden that A-hole coach that cut you isnt looking so brilliant without Nick Chubb running the ball for him. 😂😂😂
Great story telling. I really love your style
90k away from a milli 🗿que the Wayne 🔥Shoutout big ups Young Koo!!!
As someone who’s somewhat of a UA-cam fiend, FLEMLO IS THE GREATEST STORY TELLER TO EVER GRACE THE PLATFORM. Keep it up brother, you’re the MJ/Brady/Jeter of this shit. Muuuch respect from Atlanta!
Younghoe Koo just seems like such a cool dude. It’s awesome to see him giving his input on this stuff
Glad you mentioned the use of the tee for FG's in College during that era. That was the downfall of so many college kickers back then and overall it's terrible that his life spiraled downhill so far. Great story and great fact finding.
I remember those plastic blocks. I was in grade school and held the ball for my older brother who was practicing field goals for college.
I think it'd be great if you did a story on Ray Guy. He was drafted in the 1st round as a punter, but he was successful.
The punter goat
@nathansmith5215 His punts were a thing of beauty. Not only did they go far, but they hung in the air for a long time. I think it was thanks to Ray Guy that they started measuring hang time.
@@Johnmhatheisthe was indeed that guy, pal.
That's a real one right there 💯.
Janikowski turned out to be good too.
Let me start by saying that I always enjoy your channel. You are the best at what you do. I don't know if anyone else caught this mistake on the video, but at the 22:04 mark you stated that the NFL crossbar was raised to 30 feet. The crossbar has remained at 10 feet. The uprights were raised, which made it easier for officials to get it right on high kicks. That would not have had a negative effect on kickers.
Keep up the good work!
Exactly what I was going to point out.
What's up GOAT? I remembered the name of the kicker, but I had no idea of his backstory. That is until you worked your magic! And told his story that only someone as talented and gifted as you could! We as viewers are blessed to have you! Please keep on doing what you do. The world is better place because of what you do. Thank you again My Brother!!👍🏿😎
This is was one of the best documentaries I've seen in a long time. Never heard of this guy but you and your team, I'm guessing you have a team, filled in all the details before presenting the story. Please keep up the great work. Am subscribed and hope to see much more from you. I love how you respect your audience and how time is valuable. Nearly every sentence you speak has new info. Most Discovery and other big cable channel documentaries are full of fluff and are an absolute waste of time. They could get the one hour program done in 25 minutes!
He was before my time (Saints fan since 1985) so I've heard only bits and pieces of this story. Appreciate this video!
Oh, I was there. Man, he was the shits !! Lol
You should do a story about Steve Little the other kicker who also kicked a 67 yard Field Goal in College and was drafted in the first round #15 of the NFL draft in 1978.Only lasted 2 years in the NFL and the same day he was released by the St Louis Cardinals he crashed his car at a high rate of speed and ended up a quadriplegic! Died at the age of 43!
Sean Landetta was 1st Team All 1980’s and 2nd Team All 1990’s as a punter. Overlooked for the Hall of Game
I thought this was gonna be about Cade York and my Browns 😅😂 .
You’re the 💣 FlemLo!!
I was thinking Roberto Aguayo
Excellent perspective on this man’s actions. Thanks FlemLo.
We had those tees in pop warner...they made a huge difference with 11 year old so I'd say in college it was massive.
Love your story telling process and delivery. You really bring a story to life.
Truly enjoyed this. High quality....well thought out.... nicely researched.
Great video. Great research.
Amazing work as always Flem never heard of this dude. Cool to see Koo replied back to you to give his insight.
Love and appreciate you FlemLo! Happy Holidays 🎄
Love from London mate you got a solid thing going geezer. Can tell you do your research and genuinely care about your content. Looking forward to your works of the future. 🇬🇧
Thanks again Flemlo, for clearing up questions about another player who didn't reach expectations.
Keep it up Flem! Been a Fan since them NCAA Dynasties. Definitely crank it back when they get back and running.
@flemloraps you are a beast bro I am telling anyone who will listen about your vids. You pick great subjects and your analysis is mature and interesting. Well done and please keep it up. Thanks for the entertainment. Luv from Chicago.

The koo cameo made the video even better than it already was! Proud of how far you’ve come as a UA-camr since the rebuild days
Bro you are an amazing writer. This is such a good video! Also the perfect conclusion at the end. Great stuff man
Almost at a milli big homie. ❤. Proud of the journey you've been on. I hope you hit a million soon man. Keep grinding and keep pushing fam
Dude is putting out CONTENT. I love this! Keep it up dude!!
Your ability to tell a story is phenomenal! Another great one bro.
Another great video!
Bro, this one was a good one. One of your best. I don't remember this kicker, but I remember Raul Allegre for the Houston Oilers. This was one of the great kickers during my Era. Great video.
Great video. Happy Holidays!
Babe wake up flemlo just dropped
Hands down my favorite series that you do.
Some fire content man! Happy holidays to you and the fam
Brilliant story telling and researche dude.
Much love from all the way down here in New Zealand while I’m doing manual labour!
You the goat with them video congrats on nearly a mil sub
Let’s get it flemlo love your vids
Flemlo with another banger 👌🏻
Merry Christmas FlemLo.
Man your story telling is legendery at this point!
I had forgotten all about "THUNDER-FOOT" Erxleben but as soon as I saw your thumbnail, the memories came back. I was a junior in HS in New Orleans when he was drafted number one overall for the Saints, and you were correct in your video, the expectations were extremely high. There was even a song that rotated on the radio about him that increased the legend behind his college career. My grandfather, a season ticket season holder from the start of the franchise, was so disappointed buy the draft choice as the entire city of New Orleans was.
I be takin month breaks between watchin yo vids but the quality improves drastically everytime keep it up flem
I’m from da SIP!!!! And I appreciate all your content. Keep up the great work bro!!!
Austin TX!!! Great video Flemlo!!
Amazing episode. Lots of history here.
Cozy look forward to when FlemLo do new videos. It's so in depth, detailed, well put together, but also there is zero bias. This is exceptional both in talent and rarity of pure truthtelling. You rock mi fren, pls keep on keeping on!
Thank you.
Henlo fren.
Also agree, just as good as most TV sports documentaries.
@@ConspiracyQueryDotNet FREN!
I've been watching my man's videos for a few years now and he's creating content that's better than most of the stuff we see on TV.
NICE! Koo is my dude! I don't actually know him but I do root for him because of the coo story he has and his tattoo 'Patience'. Good video, man!
Thanks for another good video……..still waiting on the updated Michael Oher video from you.
Keep up the good work bor I am rocking with you in the new Year
Loving the saints vids!
Recently found your channel. Exactly what I've been looking for. Curious of you would ever do NHL or NBA stories. I feel like that would easily double your subs.
Flem is the best UA-camr on the entire site!
I’m a professional poker player and longtime fan of the channel. I wasn’t looking for a second and heard you say Justin Bonomo and I’m like wtf? I thought I was tripping.
I don’t know him personally, I don’t play at the highest stakes like that, but I have a couple friends that do. I also no longer travel and play live tournaments like I used to pre C19, I play 99.9% online now. I don’t miss playing tournaments anyway, although winning a big live tournament is probably one of the craziest feeling ever.
Never won anything nuts, couple low 6 figure ones…but beating a few hundred to a couple thousand ppl over the course of like a couple up to 4-5 12 hour days having to be focused 100% the entire time is wild. Especially when you get to the final table, and if there’s any kind of cameras (never played on more than small local tv or w/e, the streaming wasn’t like it was now) or anything. Hard to describe, especially having gotten like 9th before vs the couple actual 1st place finishes. Not bragging, taxes are crazy, and I just make a good living. Nothing extravagant. I’m grown, have a girl and a place and it’s my job like UA-cam is his. I fill out tax forms and write off computer stuff etc. prolly similar in that way. That was more in the mid 2010’s when I was younger and traveling a ton. Flemlo prolly makes more than me I’ve heard UA-cam pays well haha. If you read this I love your content man.
About Bonomo, he’s a weird dude. Not in a malicious way, but if you ever read his social media you’d know. Maybe use Phil Ivey next time or Daniel Negreanu. Ivey is the dude I rooted for watching poker on TV back in the day, stone cold killer at the tables but nicest dude ever outside of that. I get it tho, you prolly just looked up the highest earning poker player or w/e. Not meant to be some kinda slight, just wanted to share a funny (to me) anecdote and maybe help you out w your next poker analogy 😂. ✌️
I'm a raiders fan and I thought we drafted sea bass highest and pick 17. I believe it turned out great for us! He's one of the best kickers of all time! I thought that him being drafted in the first round meant that no one else ever would but I had never heard of this guy. Great video!!🎉
Love the football content. I have been an avide supporter since 2018, crazy how time flies
Accidentally ran across this video.
I'm thrilled to see a young person embracing history, any history.
Great Storytelling
At 15:07 dude casually smoking a pipe on the field lmaoooo
I live in Beaumont, had no clue about him, great video man
This video is about to be 🔥
Not sure it matters but the 79 Saints went 8-8 not 2-14.
1980 was our lowest point. 1-15. At least we were able to draft George Rogers in ‘81!!!
roberto aguayo frowns upon these transgressions
I have named my kickers Morten Andersen on every football game I've ever played. Blitz The League is still the best football game ever made. Unfortunately, I've never got to play the second one.
First off, awesome vid as usual flem thanks for the content
I will say like, regardless of dudes situation this is yet another example that has me further disillusioned and frustrated with football/sports fan culture man, to see someone get ripped down so hard is just sad to see, and it makes you wonder the life path he could’ve gone down had he not been shat upon in the way he was by the media and public. I just wish we were better to each other 😭
Flemlo, being a Bengals fan I think it'd be really fitting for you to do a Browns video. Much love, been watching for years. Keep going bro
You are incredible.
Bud been watching your videos for a long ass time always hitters gotta get to that mill tho its coming
Aye the intro is back!!!
Flemlo is a great storyteller.
What I've picked up is just because you're good, doesn't mean you need to rest on your laurels. Cutting corners and using shortcuts might make you successful for now, but not for long. Eventually, you get exposed. Thanks for this vid, Flemlo. If there's ever a time to learn a lesson, it's when someone else is the subject.
I grew up a highly intelligent kid. I was a quick learner, honor roll, honors classes, it all came easy to me. At the same time, I had undiagnosed ADHD, which wasn't a "thing" then. My parents were great, always present, but didn't really allow for any independence and failure wasn't a concept. So, when I finally got to college and the military, I landed right under the wheels of the struggle bus, lol. The things that came easy for everyone else was so foreign to me. Even now, there are tasks that take me longer and certain "innate" things that are hard to conceptualize. Constant accountability, asking for help, and putting in the work is what separates the wheat from the chaff. Good cautionary tale; great storytelling!
Hopefully one day he'll get right. It's never too late.
