I’ve watched dozens and dozens of reviews of gaming how too’s, that is without a doubt the clearest, easiest to understand and informative review I have ever seen. Well done brilliant and thank you.👍
So non of my friends are into sim racing so I just went out on my own into this hobbie and this video help a bunch with getting my barrings. Thanks dude!
Ran into you by coincidence. I am thinking about getting into iRacing and this video nicely summed it up. Appreciate your effort into this vid. I will check your other vids. Thx :)
I'm brand new to Iracing and these video have been right on time! Thank you very much for your time and efforts! I've joined your Discord and looking forward to future racing.
This video should be mandatory viewing for all the noobs that have joined since the Corona lock down. Great job! I've been iRacing for about 10 months and wish I watched this 10 months ago!👍👍
Bow at the waist! My thanks to you. I had NO idea what the Beta was...it was just hanging out on my desktop (heck, I get scared and exit out immediately). I did a ton of research form web searches, UA-cam Videos, Live iRacing events and then...I had no Idea what the heck to do next but I do now. I have been practicing, only...gonna take the plunge tomorrow. Great videos, with detailed content that has been invaluable.
Super helpful video. I purchased a Logitech G Pro wheel and pedals and, I just subscribed to IRacing. Very informative video. Appreciate this two years later. Was kinda shocked when I saw the cars and tracks were in game micro transactions. This video broke this down brilliantly. Cheers!
Great video. And I have done real racing in a Cleo class, and iRacing is the only "racing game" that can bring that same feeling to most drivers in a race. As you say it, bring the car home. Getting a race done without hitting anything. Get the most out of it and drive clean. I cant race other "sims" where drivers come from the back and dive into 12 other cars on the first turn..... they dont race as if it was real. And this is what iRacing can bring to the race. A great feeling of real life racing. Love it.
I'm working on getting my sim setup now that I have a better system to run it on. I played it one time about 2 years ago with a cheap computer with a controller and I couldn't even finish the first lap. I really enjoyed the video and I subscribed to your channel an I rarely do that. keep up the good work, I'm looking forward to seeing more recent content that you've put out! keep it clean and bring the car home.
As a newbie it seems very daunting tho this was the most understandable review I’ve seen so far . I don’t need to watch any other I’ll be staying here for all my info from now on thank you
so excited for my 1st wheel coming in this week !!im completely new to sim racing and this is very helpful and encouraging! appreciate you and this video im sure ill learn more in your other videos as well! thanks
Absolutely excellent video. Have been considering making the jump to PC and joining iRacing. This video has a wealth of info for someone just diving in. Sincerely appreciate it.
Just got a 3 month sub and super happy I found this video really helped me out alot and think now I'm ready to jump into the game.. Still curious on what's best to do first like jump in to a practice then do the race etc if you have a video on like the first races.. Again thanks for this video super helpful and glad I found this before I started the game
Fantastically helpful. Explained so much. Still not sure if ready to make the jump to iRacing. New to racing games both arcade and sim. iRacing seems way beyond my skill levels at the moment.
I got ACC recently after playing F1 2019 and realising I wanted to drive GT cars - picked up a G29 and absolutely loving it - right into the Sim Racing world and watching all the virtual GPs and GT3 races but iracing comes up a lot so I decided to find a good vid on it, I didn't find that here tho, I found a GREAT one! Fantastic overview and I'm tempted to give this a go as the fact that most people playing are aiming for the same thing, the racing should be semi serious (although I know Rookie will be chaos!. I'm looking through your other vids to find the referral as it's not here - subbed and will use your code once I track it down. Look forward to checking more of your content
Thanks so much for the videos! So informative for me while getting started this past month. Hope to see you on the track soon. Saw you were in the Carolina region like me.
Currently downloading Iracing so thank you for your time and effort into explaining all this mate. Cheers mate... also I just subscribed haha 😄 I will now be looking to see what else ya got going on
Great vids, really easy to follow and lots of great info. This vid persuaded me to buy iracing ( black Friday deal 119$ 2years) and I used your email as reference. Subscribed and will keep watching more 😁😁😁
Great video David thanks so much!! Happily added you as my introducer having just joined Iracing - but the bit about Rookie Class and how tough it is is a bit overdramatic to say the least.... don't qualify so you start at the back, drive like a Granny, let drivers who crashed and are recovering through without a fight. Got my Class D after 3 races. Now comes the hard part - might have to try actually qualifying and racing sometime soon....
Thanks for the video! Been racing f1 and gran truisms sport for a half a year and just bought a pc. Signed up today to iracing, this helped a lot. Wish I had added your email before signing but didn’t watch the video in time.
Great video. I just started sim racing yesterday. I got a g29 and iracing. It's loads of fun but damn it's hard. I just hate when you have a accident in the start and have to wait 12 mins in pit 🤣
I played(and somehow WON!) my very first race today, it was a random "for fun" lobby and it was amazing. I'm hooked, we did 40 Oval short track laps in '34 Fords and it was an absolute blast. Although I made an ass of myself after with some lame donuts not thinking about all the lapped cars... whoops. But my safety rating went up by .24 so I don't think it hurt that much.
Great video. i wish this was available when i first stepped into iracing., would have made life easier for me when i started. keep em coming . lots to digest in the beginning . 5*****
Well explained! I'm glad to see new players coming to iRacing, and these videos help them to be prepared ahead of time and avoid some of the avoidable things, luck being of course a part of the game. I'm trying to do the same with my channel, keep it up man!
very good video. Really looking forward to start one day, maybe whenever they have their next sale. One bit of info that you could've added would've been the lengths of race for each class I guess. As a relative new sim racer (AC & ACC), I struggle with longer races, 20-30mins races are so much more enjoyable than 45+ min races at the moment.
WOW David, you have a lot in the INTRO TEXT. I clicked on the 'More' looking for an Index and a time-stamp! You had it all, THANKS. THIS iRacing sounds really interesting and like lots of fun? I raced off-road motorcycles for 14 years, every kind that they had. So I have racing in my blood but too OLD to do it anymore! However, this could (maybe) take it's place, but there are so many complaints about it; #1 he price, the complexity, the rules, old graphics. Even PRO racers who have tried it complained about it, "The handling is worse than the real cars!" "Real cars are much more forgiving and easier to handle." PRICE, being IF I got this and played it a lot it could cost me $300 + for the first year! Then IF I decide I don't like it, I will have nothing left over to show for my time and money!! I hate greedy gaming companies, so I probably won't even TRY IT, because they have designed NOTHING for those who want to try it!
Thanks a lot David. Nice job of explaining. I've been a member of iRacing for a good 6 years, anyway, but I still suck! Going over the fundamentals is refreshing, and I learned some things I never learned when I first started. I subscribed and I'll be watching more. Thanks again! I do have one question maybe you can answer - how do you recommend getting one on one training, so I can ask questions as they come up? There are so many variable, I'm having a tough time sorting it all out to figure out what I'm doing "wrong".
15:50 For the record, the maths that go into iRating mean that the only thing that matters for your iRating are how you perform relative to the SOF. It doesn't matter if car #1 comes first or last. You'll get the same iRating change if you come 4th either way. It wasn't designed this way, but that's how it works out. Basically if #1 gets last then everybody gets a piece of that pie, but you are also giving some of your pie to whoever came 1st, 2nd and 3rd in his stead and it ends up being a wash. This feels odd at first but the community has experimented and inferred the actual mathematics to a high accuracy and this is how it is. For example if you are in 4th and #1 in P1 crashes and you go from being on target for earning +20 iRating to +33 as a result but then #12 passes you. You end up giving the #12 car 13 iRating in the exchange and so go back to earning +20 even though you beat #1 #1 however, still loses a ton and distributing that amongst everyone else. It is sufficiently counterintuitive that one of the software engineers at iRacing didn't realize this is how it shakes out in reality. I tried to resist this conclusion for time, coming up with all sorts of possible exceptional circumstances but it inevitably ends up that all that matters is where you place relative to your iRating and the SOF.
I just bought 2 years today and also had a friend tag along. We were wondering what the best way to play together is? It seems like when there's only a few races available for newbies, they get filled up and we get split up. Also, what are some good starter things for us to read up on in terms of getting involved, particularly as a team. We wanted to start doing league nights together so we have a scheduled drive together.
Do you have a parts list for a mid range I racing set up ? Seat , wheel, pedal, motors ? Thanks so much . Love your video, very informative as there is a lot to digest! 👍
Cost of a set up depends on you. I started with a wheel I got a garage sale for $4. I spent my first 2 years with just that. A friend purchased me that same wheel NEW as a gift for $80 and I went a year of more with that. As a nine year member now I have a $600 wheel and a year after I got that I put out $200 more for an upgraded set of pedals. Seat, I have always used my office chair so I have spent no cash on that, but it is 10 years old and I do need a new one Motors? What are you asking here? The motor (Engines) are int he cars on the sim, nothing you need here James
Thanks James , I would like to purchase a system that is ready to go right off the bat. I would like to be able to develop enough skill to be I racing with the pros . Would you have a source? Thanks
do you have a video for rookie class. can never get into a race. after the practice session, when in the pits, i don't get a race start message, but do see a timer that there is 15 minutes left in the session. the practice button etc is greyed out. have started these practice sessions well before the 30 minute end time.
hey man, just came across your channel recently, and even sent a friend this video to get him familiar with the service! My friends an I are doing the 24hrs of nurb in a couple weeks, and our iratings are similar. We would love to have you if you dont already have a team!
Got 3 months of Iracing through humble bundle. Looking forward to trying it. But yes, as an outsider it is riduculous that your irating gets slamed when you get shamelessly punted out on corner entry. If grand turismo can figure out who to penalise then so can iracing. I'll leave out rain too. hehe
This was really cool man, thankyou, just installing now so I figured I'd get some basic info on how things work, should have no problem jumping in now. As for pricing and stuff in iRacing, I think what some people don't fully get with games/sims like this is, you're not actually really paying for content so much as you are paying for access to a gated community of like minded people who want to take (insert game/sim) a bit more seriously, its supposed to be a barrier to entry to weed out the people who are likely to not really like how things work anyway, a lot of people coming from things like Forza or some of the other less simmy type games aren't going to like the realistic physics, they aren't going to like poor controller options etc. For me, I know what I'm going into, I'm going into a place where actual real racecar drivers go to compete, where people don't want to be punted off the track by someone who's never actually driven that car or track before, where its not really funny when some guy decides he wants to go backwards around the track in the middle of the race, or just pulls off to the side of the track because mum called and told them to put out the garbage, and I'm okay paying a little extra for that, could they throw in a few extra cars for the price? sure, but it doesn't look like that bad of a deal to me, and if I wanted to drive every car under the sun in practice, there's other cheaper sims for that.
Hey David, thanks for the info. However can you show what you click on to get the various pages opened. I can’t find some of what you did because the cursor was moving too fast, or I’m too slow..
What a great explanation, glad I'm come across your video I do have one question I work away for 2 weeks and home for 2 weeks, so on so forth Is this going to have a dramatic affect on my 13 week season if I'm unable to play for half of that time?
The one thing people forget is that iRacing is operated and run JUST Like a REAL RACING Series!!! I have a question, Do you have a video on what equipment to use to get started in sim racing? Such as pedals, wheels, etc. I know there are a ton of them out there and it can be when expensive using Top of the line equipment.
Hey Matthew. Did you find anything on what to start with on hardware? I am looking for what I sure ensure I get when getting a PC. I know the Iracing requirements, but I am guessing there is something I should not cheap out on like the video card or RAM
I noticed in your description that you use the CSL Elite LC pedals now instead of the Logitech. Do you think those are a lot better than the Logitech? I recently upgraded the springs in my Logitech with GTEYE springs, but I'm still thinking about a complete pedal upgrade.
I am really pleased with the upgrade so far. Still getting used to them though. Nice! Did you also swap your clutch and throttle pedal? I made a video about my switch from G29 to Fanatec here: ua-cam.com/video/ilgQ-AG1xN0/v-deo.html
@@Sampsoid I changed all three pedals. I can tell a pretty big difference, especially in the throttle and clutch. The brake still feels a little odd. Might be upgrading to CSL's or v3's soon.
Great video but had a newbie ? If you join a 12 week series are they giving you per week to complete race or whatnot within and next week will be a different race? Or can you just run through all the races in a few weeks? Just trying to figure out how to get this stuff all ready so I can start my rookie license stuff. In short is it do it at your own pace or do we have a strict timeline to complete to get our licenses thx in advance anyone can answer if they like

Anyone with at least 2 brain cells knows that this video was super helpful
Dang. I thought this was gonna be a complaint but you turned it around one me.
With only two brain cells... Like me.
This is wildly helpful. I mean, we are all paying to play versus arcade play on a console. I appreciate the explanation!
helpful but im still lost lol
ive only got one
I’ve watched dozens and dozens of reviews of gaming how too’s, that is without a doubt the clearest, easiest to understand and informative review I have ever seen. Well done brilliant and thank you.👍

I was so afraid to start iracing but now everything is more clear. Thank you so much David!!!
1 min into the video and I straight away press Subscribed. Fantastic video.
Thanks very much, glad you liked it
Great video. I watched quite a few videos about starting with iRacing, but this is by far the best imo.
Ran into you by coincidence. I am thinking about getting into iRacing and this video nicely summed it up. Appreciate your effort into this vid. I will check your other vids. Thx :)
Just getting into iRacing due to significant peer pressure. This video is a great starting point. Thanks very much!

Thanks a lot, really glad you liked it.

Same here! I cant wait!
Do you still use it?
Absolutely excellent video. Have been considering making the jump to PC and joining iRacing. This video has a wealth of info for someone just diving in. Sincerely appreciate it.
My strategy is stay away from everyone. Go super high let anyone pass. Never race hard with anyone and I finish top 7 every time. Nascar only.
But where's the fun in that. Might as well do hotlaps
Just got a 3 month sub and super happy I found this video really helped me out alot and think now I'm ready to jump into the game.. Still curious on what's best to do first like jump in to a practice then do the race etc if you have a video on like the first races.. Again thanks for this video super helpful and glad I found this before I started the game
what an awesome intro to iracing! ty for the depth and advice.
Thanks, glad you liked it.
Awesome video. All your videos I've watched so far are super helpful. It's like having a sim racing mentor. Thanks David!
Amazing starter guide, thanks so much! I'm in the Carolina region also, hope to see you out there!
Fantastically helpful. Explained so much. Still not sure if ready to make the jump to iRacing. New to racing games both arcade and sim. iRacing seems way beyond my skill levels at the moment.
this video is simply amazing. I'm sold.
Thanks Cam, glad you like it and see you on track.
Excellent video Dave. Simple to understand and you cut thru a lot of the chaff. Thanks for doing this!

Excellent mate - well done. Absolutely loved your explanations, easy to understand and very newbie friendly. Good on ya :)
Great video. i wish this was available when i first stepped into iracing., would have made life easier for me when i started. keep em coming . lots to digest in the beginning . 5*****
Thanks so much, your support is awesome!!
Thank you! Was difficult to understand the game, but this was helpful!
nice vid! got my playseat sensation pro and fanatic dd1 coming...my first time into sim racing.

Yes what Mod said.. :) Thanks again
really good video and loads of good info for a new racer like me. Cheers nice one :-)
Absolutely amazing video mate.
Thanks Sampsoid. Hope you reached A rating!

Nice! Great to hear. Hope to see you out on track!
If it wasnt for this video I couldn’t have done anything in the game... thank you!
Great video, thanks for your help mate
Thank you. Great overview.
Very informative, thanks!

Seat, I have always used my office chair so I have spent no cash on that, but it is 10 years old and I do need a new one
Motors? What are you asking here? The motor (Engines) are int he cars on the sim, nothing you need here
James
Thanks James , I would like to purchase a system that is ready to go right off the bat. I would like to be able to develop enough skill to be I racing with the pros . Would you have a source? Thanks
Thinking of jumping in..
This was good
do you have a video for rookie class. can never get into a race.
after the practice session, when in the pits, i don't get a race start message, but do see a timer that there is 15 minutes left in the session.
the practice button etc is greyed out. have started these practice sessions well before the 30 minute end time.
Very good and clear how to vid , tnx!
hey man, just came across your channel recently, and even sent a friend this video to get him familiar with the service! My friends an I are doing the 24hrs of nurb in a couple weeks, and our iratings are similar. We would love to have you if you dont already have a team!
awesome videos. very helpful. thanks
20:27 Been waiting for an ARCA Brake mention
Got 3 months of Iracing through humble bundle. Looking forward to trying it. But yes, as an outsider it is riduculous that your irating gets slamed when you get shamelessly punted out on corner entry. If grand turismo can figure out who to penalise then so can iracing. I'll leave out rain too. hehe
Thanks, I'm thinking of buying a subscription now.
Great stuff , as always !
Thanks a lot mate
I need help i bought it on steam but it says i meed a promotion key but how do i get one
I'm assuming there are multiple tracks in a series. Do you have to purchase all the tracks in the series before joining?
Hey David, thanks for the info. However can you show what you click on to get the various pages opened. I can’t find some of what you did because the cursor was moving too fast, or I’m too slow..
What a great explanation, glad I'm come across your video
I do have one question
I work away for 2 weeks and home for 2 weeks, so on so forth
Is this going to have a dramatic affect on my 13 week season if I'm unable to play for half of that time?
What kind of pc should I get to race iracing
most PCs today will run iRacing
They could do much more, but they keep the upgrades at a level that more systems then not can run it
A custom built one.
Great video! Very informative!
Thanks a lot, glad you liked it!
i got it off steam but i can not set it up pls help
The one thing people forget is that iRacing is operated and run JUST Like a REAL RACING Series!!!
I have a question, Do you have a video on what equipment to use to get started in sim racing? Such as pedals, wheels, etc. I know there are a ton of them out there and it can be when expensive using Top of the line equipment.
Hey Matthew. Did you find anything on what to start with on hardware? I am looking for what I sure ensure I get when getting a PC. I know the Iracing requirements, but I am guessing there is something I should not cheap out on like the video card or RAM
Very good video, thank you!
You are welcome!
In short is it do it at your own pace or do we have a strict timeline to complete to get our licenses thx in advance anyone can answer if they like
How about the before settings. Best tower or at least the basics of the system to get started. How much memory, video card,etc...
