  • Here's a fun racket! I'm a little worried I might want to switch to it, actually. We shall see. It plays well and easily without a lot of the downfalls you might associate with such a light racket. It's also extended length, which is totally my thing.

    Blade 104 was fun to hit with, but I tried maybe 2 generations ago with a stiffer feel and 18x19 string pattern. I almost switched, but the extended length was hard to get used to.

      Was it the spacing or swingweight? I imagine this generation feels better but it's the first I've tried.
      I guess the adjustment for spacing was intuitive for me. It's only half an inch after all but I can see swingweight being more challenging. However, this one is pretty light in that regard. Only about 316. That's 17 units lighter in swingweight than a prostaff

      @@time410s It was spacing. The .5 inch really messed with my timming. The feel wss not too bad. I thought it was a nice frame. It just did not work for my groundstrokes. Serving had lots of extra pop. The SW was very manageable. I think it could use more. Glad you liked it. There is lots of room to customize the frame.

    It is 27.5 long. How is the power level? And how is it comparing to blackout with similar SW and Vorecore 100?

    • @time410s
      @time410s  2 роки тому +1

      Good questions! I should do a comparison video on my favorite plus rackets and include this kinda thing in it.
      Power is good! Maybe slightly less easy power but it definitely has enough. I can really rip a ball on it. Slightly more comfortable than all of them.
      I'm actually not exactly sure what swingweight and twistweight were on Blackfoot

    Not a fan of this latest Blade colour scheme.
    Have tried the last gen Blade 104 and 98; both arm killers for me, unfortunately. My friend and his wife both have the 104 and love it though.

      That's too bad! I remember thinking it was an arm killer way back when I tried one several years ago. Don't feel that way this time. Yeah maybe I'm not the biggest fan.

    Do you plan to taste the really underrated wilson blade 100 ? With some lead, it s a beast for advanced players !

      I don't know. I've found a feature of the grommets on these blades (minus the one in my video) to really bother me with crooked crosses. If the 100 doesn't have that issue I might be curious. Check my shorts to see what I mean or my recent reels on IG. It blew my mind. I'll never see them the same again.

      @@time410s the one with the toothpick (and the ocd) ? Well, I just looked at my blade 100 and yeah it s pretty much as your blade... But still it s the best blade of the V8 range, with lead, it s way better that 98, 98s or 104 by far (all stock or weighted).

    • @time410s
      @time410s  Рік тому +1

      I see. That would drive me crazy but I do believe it's kind of superficial but I still can't stand it haha. The 104 doesn't have the issue nor the Serena. Which is interesting.

      @@time410s Interesting. On mine it s really very minus and I had to mesure it to believe there was a thing but yes, it very little but there is.
      And more than all : it is so much better than the 104... If you Can, try !

      I imagine it is better haha. At least for most but I have a soft spot however I probably wouldn't switch to either tbh.

    Maybe a tiny bit of lead to help plowthrough/stability, along with your preferred strings?

    • @time410s
      @time410s  9 місяців тому +1

      Turns out it needed a lot. I've been messing with it again and I basically subtract the swingweight to what it would be at a normal length and use that as a reference point for how high it needs to be to feel stable at lower pace at the desired length.
      So 320 at 27.5 inches would actually be about 300 at 27. So it needs to be around 340 to have the stability a 27" one would have at 320.
      Which means it will be more effort to swing for the same stability (essentially)

      @@time410s Maybe extended frames are only for elite players that don't mishit very much. I have never understood what Schwartzman (and other short players) get out of extended frames. There must be some magic in a higher swingweight with a low mass.
      That said, I have given up on lowering swingweight as I *need* lateral stability. My racquets are now all around 340g/340sw and I've gotten used to it. The benefits outweigh (drum roll) the maneuverability consequences. I am no spring chicken either...you just gotta get a bit stronger.
      You might want to try putting your lead at 8 and 4 o'clock on the Blade 104. That gets you most of the twist weight stability with a significantly lower swingweight. YMMV.

      I wonder what it is for him as well! Might just be about his height. That might be case for both ends of the extreme using XL. Him and isner.
      Are you using XL with higher SW? I agree with your idea about twistweight. I measure all of it now which makes me want to try again. And I have been
      Have a 104 again and even got a SW102 again 🤣 since I didn't try with all my tools or understanding last time.
      Hopefully this is the last time...

      @@time410s I've extended several racquets, including a Gravity Tour, a couple of Radical OS, and an Extreme Tour. Generally, the bigger the head the better they did being extended (for me, of course)--probably because they were already stable. The Extreme Tour needs so much lead for me to be able to use it that even a modest extension (1/4") landed me in nearly 350sw territory, so I reversed that extension. Of these, I only use the Gravity Tour, my current favorite (along with a Gravity Pro of matching 340-ish swingweight).

    • @time410s
      @time410s  8 місяців тому +1

      What are they extended to? Extending seems like such a slippery slope. The trade-off of getting a quarter inch of reach and what not but 10 units of "artificial" swingweight seem daunting. I only get that much reach but it's that much harder to swing.
      I'll probably cut my SW102 down again but have it around that 340 SW as well.
