Sincerely, thank you my friend and many blessings to you and your family as well! 🙏
Really great job. Might make one myself.
@@ljc415 thank you 🙏
I’m an amateur trying to build a bench out of a tree that was cut down in my backyard. So glad I found your video because I’ve learned a lot. Love your work!
Sincerely thank you and this is awesome to hear!! I have no doubt that you will create something amazing!
You are only limited to your imagination.
Many blessings 🙏
Dusty, that is one very IMPRESSIVE log bench! ! ! Best log bench build I've ever watched. And using a chainsaw as a lumber mill to cut the boards was genius. Keep up the great work. I look forward to whatever comes next.
Hey there boss, sincerely thank you so much 🙏really means a lot!
I just finished another build of a Viking Sweatlodge! Let me know what you think! Many blessings to you and yours. 🌲🌲🌲

Dusty! You did an awesome job on that bench. I said to Glen that I would be glad for the footrests…. I could see adding some pillows to it and having a nap. 😍
Glen is wondering if you are going to treat the wood with anything?
Take care,
Annette🌺
Thank you so much Annette and yes I think we’re just gonna stick with the little logs for a foot rests!
As for treating yes most definitely there is quite a lot of work left to do on it but I need it to dry for one season before I continue because it’s still pretty wet as it was a fresh tree.
Beautiful! I really enjoyed watching you do this.
Thank you so much Cindy!
💜🙏🏼💜🇺🇲🦅☕☕🫶🏼 awesome project.

Great build and nice video!
Thank you so much!
Great Idea Man love the the bench. Im gonna have to build one.
Thank you so much!
Don't shorten it Dusty! You have foot rest than Ragina and boys can use to get onto the bench. I like the raw look. Good job as always. Peace to you and family!
Most definitely Tim I have decided not to cut it and to just leave the foot rests!
I have to tell you that bench is so darn heavy it’s probably close to 300 pounds right now just because it’s fresh wood but it really turned out better than I thought it would!
Much love and blessings to you my friend
Lovely bench!!
Sincerely, thank you so much my friend. I really appreciate that! Many blessings to you and your family!
Good job. Greats from Norway 🇧🇻
Thank you so much my friend!!
That's awesome stuff my brother ✌️
Sincerely, thank you!! Much love and many blessings to you and your family, my brother!
Hey really like the bench style, incase you don't know there is a book of standards for furniture etc. It would have the dimensions for things like seat and back angle, seat height. This would get you a starting point then adjust slightly if needed for your own preference. Of course the information is probably available on line too. Cheers.
@@hilltop366 sincerely thank you my friend! 🙏
Beautiful!!!
Thank you so much Vionette!
What a beautiful job
Sincerely thank you so much!
I totally get the therapeutic aspect
If you have not done so already, drill some 1/2" (or 3/4 if the planks are over 1.25" thick) dowel holes to secure the bench planks to the ends. Perhaps 2 or 3 per edge, roughly 2" deep into the planks. After a dry fit, glue the whole thing up and reassemble. For a tight glue connection , use ratchet straps. Wipe away excess flow out. Be sure glue is waterproof/meant for outdoor use. Chisel/saw/sand dowels so they are surface flush. Be sure to lightly sand areas where glue flow out occurred so finish is uniform. Finish as desired.
BUT BEFORE YOU DO!
You may find that the bench center likes to sag/give a bit under load. You can add a 6"x1" board underneath the sitting plank so it acts like a joist. Just a couple of notches on the ends, a couple more dowel holes and it should sit the whole family with confidence.
Back rest sagging? Piss off - yer on yer own mate.
OK, this is awesome and just shows that I had the right thinking but have yet to put it into effect.
Just recently purchased a auger survivor tool that I was going to implement exactly what you’re talking about.
Sincerely appreciate this and thank you!
Nothing but blessings to you my friend
Great Build.
Sincerely thank you
Absolutely brilliant, I will be attempting it very shortly. Many Thanks Scott.
Sincerely Thank you so much Scott!!
It was honestly a really fun build, glad to hear that you are gonna do it as well!
I just recently did a build of a Viking sweat lodge that turned out really cool as well! Many blessings to you and your family, my friend!

Thank you so much my friend!
That looks awesome! You did a great job. So steady with your chainsaw. I hope to do the same with a log.
Sincerely, thank you my friend that means a lot!!
@@foxhollerhomestead how thick did you cut those bench boards?
@@bassfishga each one of the boards is 1.5” thick enough to be supportive, but not too thick
@@foxhollerhomestead thank you.
Nice work Dusty
Sincerely, thank you my brother that means a lot and maybe when you come out I’ll show you a few things!

Sincerely thank you!
Здорово,класс😊
O banco ficou muito mais muito legal
Thats awesome brother. Probably a little pricey to have you build a ship me one. Lol
Sincerely thank you so much my brother and honestly I have no idea how much it would cost just assuming that it’s close to 300 pounds… but… if you decided to take a road trip then I’m sure it would be easier to carry it back with you!! Just sayin!
Fanstastic,art.😂
Fantastic! I would love to have the skills to do it.
Seriously thank you my friend and as far as I’m concerned, you definitely have the skills you just need to get out there and try! Many blessings to you and your family
Cool
Sincerely thank you my friend!!
Класс👍👍👍🖐️
Love the bench. Looks a like it could break on the back though, knowing how cedar acts. Did you do anything else to prevent that?
🥰
👍
Was wondering if the log was dried and seasoned? The reason I say this is When you peeled the log, it seemed to peel like it was green. Wondering if that bench checked And twisted on you also wondering what you used to put it together as far as glue and lag's or DOW LSI.. really like to look of it! good job. What kind of wood? Dale ftom Sierra Mountains California
Building log furniture is very therapeutic. I love doing it, keep up the good Work. Dale from Sierra mountains, California.
Hey there Dale!
The log was pretty green, only brought it down about two months before I did this.
This is from a western red cedar tree so even after all the time since I made the video, it still has not twisted or split!!
Western cedar is great for outdoors as well because it does not rot.
As far as putting it together, I did not use any dowels or lags, or any glue at all. Everything fit nice and tight and even after it is dried it’s still very solid.
And yes, I have to agree. It was very therapeutic. I just recently made a video about a month or so ago where I built a sweat lodge out of Cedar logs as well! Got to sweat it for the first time last weekend, and it was great!
Anyhow, many blessings to you and your family, my friend
Hello sir.
Very interesting idea.
Is it stable without additional reinforcements and supports.
I plan to make one like this.
Beleza
Obrigado!!
Você sabe sobreviver. Manaus, Amazonas, Brasil.
What kind of glue did you use for the seat and back? What did you do to loosen the bark?
I didn’t use any glue for anything, just cut it to fit snug. As far as the bark, western red cedar, once you get it started peels right off pretty easy.
Typically I will use a felling wedge
I totally think I can do this. I have stumps, and slabs off the saw mill.
You got this!! The only way you’re gonna find out is if you do it and I know you can do it!!
Nicely done, what species Of wood?
Sincerely thank you! This is Western Red Cedar
This is like manly ASMR. Will you put some kind of a sealant on it to keep it from dry rotting?
lol thank you so much my brother!
And yes I will put a Sealund on it eventually after it dries but for now it’s completely OK.
The awesome thing about western red cedar is that it is A very resistant wood to rotting. Which is why most people use cedar for shingle siding as well as fences, decks etc out here.
There is still some that I want to do to it like around the edges and sand it down but it will take a full season To completely dry out
PS what is ASMR?
@@foxhollerhomestead ASMR is like a video that's just the sounds of someone doing something. I don't think that's the exact definition but it's how I understand it.
@@rvfamilylife awesome! Thank ya
Meaning length of bench height of legs
Like I said, I never took any measurements, but I can give you an estimate that the seat is approximately 7 feet long, which the back is the same length. The legs are approximately 3 feet tall.
Thank you
🙈
I can't work for a few more weeks, so I've been watching videos to get some ideas for projects. Would you care if I copied this design for benches?
Most definitely my friend, of course! I’d love to see how it turned out.
Why do you leave the chainsaw running?
There are times where I will check their chainsaw off, but it just happened to show that in the video and that’s only when I’m getting ready to do another coat rather than having to start the chainsaw over and over.
Hi sir good job do you have measure ilke
Sincerely thank you so much my friend!
Honestly I never took measurements.
Does anyone know the measurementsb
When I made the bench, I never did take any measurements. I just built it to where it was comfortable.
Kayu apa bahan nya??
Hello my friend! This is western red Cedar!
