Thank you so much.. The ghost max is a more all round shoe as it's very good for fore foot strikers and good for heel stricker vs nimbus which is great for heel striker but average at forefoot plus it's much lighter. Think I'll go with the ghost max cause it's a 6mm drop. Love my Peg 40 but the 10 mm drop seems to be causing knee pain after about 5km which doesn't appear with my boston 12 which is 6.5mm. Now all I need is to get my hands on an all black ghost max like my peg 40 but it seems to be sold out everywhere.
The Boston 12 is a plated shoe (we rods) so no. I don’t think running full time in a plated shoe ideal. Beyond that there isn’t much overlap. The Boston 12 is a fast trainer… the Ghost Max is a shoe for all around running, mostly easier running with a little tempo work at times.
I don't have the Nimbus 26, but I have the Nimbus 25 and the Ghost Max. Although I like the Ghost Max, and they really didn't change the Nimbus that much since the last version, I definitely think the ride of the Nimbus is a lot softer and more comfortable underfoot. The Ghost Max has a good rocker, but it starts to feel more stiff the more you start running in it. (These comments were just my honest opinion ✌️)
I agree with you and what you mentioned about the GM is why I prefer it. The Nimbus is great as a plush shoe for slow running, but that is ALL it does (besides being a great walking shoe). It’s one dimensional. The GM can do what the Nimbus does, 80% of the feel, but it can also do alot more. I find it a more dynamic ride that can handle more paces and more types of running. I value that in a shoe much more. Specialist shoes are great… but a shoe only for slow/recovery type runs is not one of there I ever am drawn too. Especially when the same brand makes two better options for that (Novablast 4 and the Superblast).
Yes, I do plan to cover the Cloudsurfer and Cloudeclipse updates in 2024. I actually ran quite a bit in On shoes back in 2018/19… so it will be nice to revisit the brand after all of these years.
Asics Gel-Nimbus 26… hands down. The gel in the heel, the amount of foam and very plush upper make it a better shoe for this use case. Both shoes are very stable, though they achieve it in different ways. If you need a custom insole the Ghost Max would be a better option due to the last used and overall construction.
Hi! I'm torn between the Nimbus 25, 26, Ghost Max. I don't run, but I'm looking for a walking shoes for travel. Any tips on what should I get? Thank you!
Definitely the Nimbus… it’s an excellent walking shoe. Between the 25 and 26… personally speaking I find the 25 a better looking shoe (your aesthetics may not) but you also can likely find some good deals on it in your local area. The 26 has a bit more rubber on the outsole and a little more grip but it’s completely margin for walking. Otherwise the shoes are nearly the same.
Not a brooks person, but a brooks ghost max is actually worth the money (in comparison to the regular ghost which is 140?$) they don’t feel flat as the regular ghost. Novablast is still far superior IMO
What do you think, my daily rotation includes Adidas SL2, Takumi Sen 9 or10 and since today add brooks ghost max for long runs. Does that make sense? 😅 Greetings from Ho Chi Minh city Vietnam
It does, assuming you are only racing shorter distances. The Takumi Sen 9 or 10 are really meant for a 5 or 10k race...possibly a half marathon. However, the Sl2/TS10 combo is what I'll be spending most of the summer in when I'm running in Adidas. The Ghost Max is a very comfortable cruiser too...
Stack Height wise Ghost Max is more similar to Cumulus 25 or say even NovaBlast 4, I would compare it to them instead and probably leave the Nimbus 26 out and in it's own category for now.
@@ihussain1011 While the stack in the Cumulus 25 is fairly similar… the shoe is not marketed as a “max cushion cruiser”. Both the Nimbus and Ghost Max are. The basis of this “vs” videos is compare two shoes, that are marketed to the same use case… albeit they branch out from there.
I haven’t run in a 1080 in YEARS…. But the Ghost Max is excellent. I know NB has made the 1080 softer and softer… the GM is a nice balance between cushion and firmness. However… it’s still pick something firmer and lower stack as a single daily trainer.
The Asics sure does "look" better and that initial step in feel is better...but the performance of the Brooks is just better (for more runners). Yes, both are great shoes.
Currently… I have no races scheduled. I’m honestly just enjoying running at the moment. Depending on what country I’m in in the fall… I likely will jump into a local half or full marathon. Stay tuned.

Not according to Brooks or Running Warehouse. The regular Ghost 15 is a 23mm forefoot, though 35mm heel. A 22mm forefoot shoe would hardly be a "max" shoe, in fact it would be a minimalist shoe in 2024.

@Theartofrunning Definitely not. I have no idea what page he was referencing or where that spec comes from but the shoe definitely does not have that little stack height. I go by Running Warehouse and their numbers. Regardless of what the brand says… RW gives you the real one. That’s what I’ve used in this video.
@@SagasuRunning Gotcha, thanks for replying. Ill probably go to the store and pick up up a pair soon, The nimbus 25 and 26 is lil too much shoe for me personally. I have the Novablast 4 which i use for my easy runs and feels pretty maximalistic.
@@Precisionpace The Ghost Max definitely feel ls more minimal than either shoe, close to the NB4 but different geometry and foam feel. But there is no want it’s 22mm in the forefoot. Nimbus 25 or 26....I'd also look for the "TR" version of either shoe, which will give you an even more grippy outsole.
Hows the outsole durability on the ghost max?
Honestly, not great. It’s probably my biggest complaint with the shoe overalls the outsole rubber is too soft.

Should I add the Nimbus to my rotation or just stick with the SB and NB4
