These videos make me genuinely interested in the stories behind some of the other weezer albums. I’ve heard of Pinkertons story but I want to know how ok human, black, or pacific daydream were made
pacific daydream was influenced by when rivers was hanging out with random people in santa monica, if i recall correctly. i think white album was as well. ok human i believe is about life in quarantine, although i think the album title was going around before the pandemic so i dont know, it could have changed
the often blown over part of the EWBAITE story is that albums like raditude and hurley seemed to be the band's permanent direction until fans had a word about a demoed album
When they toured EWBAITE, I saw them in Atlanta at a large club for an “intimate evening with Weezer”. There was no opening act, the curtain dropped and they played some hits for 20 minutes and then they played the whole EWBAITE album beginning to end. Super tight set, no talking between songs, solid show. Been a Weezer fan since 94’ and seen them many times at varying size venues, this was a really cool experience for the fans. I have the 12” of the album and it still gets spins here.
Same here homie. Although , did it at the Los Angeles show. Also heard them outside a record shop in Long Beach when the album dropped. Couldn’t get in lol.
As a huge fan of Blue & Pinkerton who didn't keep up with their releases after Maladroit, these videos are fascinating to me and really helping me to fill in the gaps of what they've done since then. I'm very intrigued and may well give EWBAITE a listen now! Thanks for the great video.
Wow, idk but I saw you made music so I clicked on your profile to check it out, so I'm gonna check your music out soon as ur bio says you sound like weezer and too fighters (I'm very excited!)
wow…… just wow. i never realised the amount of lore that ewbaite has looking forward to the weezer cruise video, although you should also do some more variety content instead of just weezer, i love the videos :)
Thanks so much! I agree with the variety thing too, I’ve got a Tally Hall and Foo Fighters video in the works so we’ll just see which one I finish first
EWBAITE proved my point to a number of friends: Rivers never lost his ability to write a good/great album, but he’s more interested in being prolific than he is being a viable artist.
I feel this with this SZNZ project he has going for. The guy's releasing a lot of music this year yet none of it feels particularly interesting or memorable to me. I can listen to it and think it sounds nice, I just don't feel like wanting to go back to it It would be better if he just took his time like he did with EWBAITE and took a break for a few years
Over time, I've noticed fans warming up to Hurley much like they've been picking up on Maladroit in recent years. And rightfully so, as where most tend to lump it in with the likes of Raditude and Red, some see it as a minor return to form that in a way led to how EWBAITE is today.
For people that were confused: when it sounds like the narrator says "Ube" they actually say "EWBAITE" which is an abbrevoation of the album this video is about. Took me a while to figure out lol. Fantastic video and channel though, I love how you encapsulate how goofy and fun it is to be a weezer fan lol. And how being a fan doesn't always mean liking their music 😅 P.s. love the music choices, is that the pro skater theme I hear? 👀
Yeah, I think he shoulda probably just said the name of the album and/or explained the abbreviated name. Not everyone watching this video follows Weezer like that. I figured it out by searching for 'Ecce Homo' and finding what album it is a prototype of.
Rivers is far more palatable as the guy you know for sure is sensitive and vulnerable, but whose output has the "smooth drinking, great tasting" esthetic of light beer.
This video is amazing! Ewbaite is really a great album. The teasers got me so hyped back in the day. It was also released during a pretty dark time in my life. The album lived up to its hype, and reminded me that everything really will be alright in the end.
I think the album is very good, and a return to form for Weezer. They have risen past the disappointment of their first singles from the album to deliver something very solid and lovely.
This album has the best guitar solos since Pinkerton. That's what no one talks about. Absolutely killer melodic guitar solos with hints of full shred mode. The futurescope trilogy is unmatched. This album is a sleeper and almost their best
I'm going through your videos - first the Nirvana, now the Weezer - and they're all great, and so informative. "Return to Ithika" must be part of the Patriarcha theme as well; they literally reference The Odyssey, where a son searches out his father, and together, they vanquish the enemies (his wife's suitors, who assume her husband has died) that have taken over their household.
I love Coheed and Cambria, but Weezer can do it better with one album, yikes! It's a legit great album cover, too. Episode idea: Mystery Science Theater 3000 has been snuck into at least two albums, Green and Black, would love to know more about that because I'm a huge fan of both.
Oh god this needs 100x the views it currently has. EWBAITE is genuinely my favourite album by a long shot but I didn't know about any of this until I found this video. Amazing work, you really summarized what seems like a complicated 'development hell' concisely and made it easy to understand and love this album even more.
I never was a big Weezer fan,(graduated highschool in 03 for timeline reference). They are still better than some of the crap that gets on the radio..,...
The Pinkeron reviews killed him. It’s masterpiece really one of the greatest pieces of muisc ever made. Now the genius who made that uses a fuckin algorithm to write his lyrics, thats why the music sucks. Its robotic, theres no human emotion and feel like the first 2 records. They lost touch of the formula they once had and clearly only care about being mainstream. Imagine what would of happened if Pinkerton got the reviews it deserved from the start? We’d have a lot more great music from these guys
At the time Rivers paid too much attention to what others wrote and said about him, now he pays too much attention to what's going on in pop culture. He need to write from the heart again!
Personally I have loved all Weezer albums, for me EWBAITE is one of their albums. I enjoy every song. Each song is so different, they talks to me in a different way.
Excellent biographical voyage my friend. River’s always possessed an explorative & dualistic personality: Blue/Pink, *Songs From The Blackhole, many other unreleased projects* , EWBAITE, Pacific Daydream, Ecce Hommo *, & Seasons. Applause 👏
People will always know Weezer and love them for Blue, Pinkerton, White, etc.. but honestly, in my opinion, nothing can top EWBAITE. And SZNZ, which I really hope you make a video on.
I liked Hurley when it came out. I was starting my senior year of high school and starting to feel that "uh-oh, adulthood is coming" existential dread, and having the song Memories on there felt like thinking about everything that had happened in my teenage years leading up to turning 18, which. Uh. I never actually planned to turn 18. Sitting here at 31 it takes on a whole different meaning. I've never heard the album that this video is actually about. Sorry about that.
👍
👍
Thumbs up 👍
✌
👏
👍
Oh wow, I didn't know Weezer did a fourth album!
*Fifth
I ❤ maladroit
These videos make me genuinely interested in the stories behind some of the other weezer albums. I’ve heard of Pinkertons story but I want to know how ok human, black, or pacific daydream were made
Weezer lore goes crazy
ditto on pacific daydream
pacific daydream was influenced by when rivers was hanging out with random people in santa monica, if i recall correctly. i think white album was as well. ok human i believe is about life in quarantine, although i think the album title was going around before the pandemic so i dont know, it could have changed

Saw them on the same tour at the Belasco in LA. One of the better shows I’ve ever been to
Same here homie. Although , did it at the Los Angeles show. Also heard them outside a record shop in Long Beach when the album dropped. Couldn’t get in lol.
Weezer’s rut is comparable to 9/11. I say this as a huge fan of Weezer and September 11th.
It will never not be TOO SOON.
Uh... Do you want to read that out loud?
bro 💀
@@romeo-0016 uh, do you want to cry about it?
@@SnailHatan no, it's just a... Presumptive statement. That seemed poorly worded.
Love the way you laid out the story! This was already one of my favorites and now I appreciate it even more.
As a huge fan of Blue & Pinkerton who didn't keep up with their releases after Maladroit, these videos are fascinating to me and really helping me to fill in the gaps of what they've done since then. I'm very intrigued and may well give EWBAITE a listen now! Thanks for the great video.
That and the white album are great
Weezer are slowly but surely getting their due... the amount of effort they put into being a rock band is unparalleled.
Wow, idk but I saw you made music so I clicked on your profile to check it out, so I'm gonna check your music out soon as ur bio says you sound like weezer and too fighters (I'm very excited!)
I actually really like Hurley. It's been my 5th place for years and I'm not joking. It's just a fun album that really shouldn't be taken too seriously
Hell yeah! You’re awesome!
wow…… just wow. i never realised the amount of lore that ewbaite has
looking forward to the weezer cruise video, although you should also do some more variety content instead of just weezer, i love the videos :)

@@MarcButEvil YO weezer AND tally hall??????????? do u just keep getting based or what lol
jokes aside tho keep up the banger work
@MarcButEvil don't listen to him keep doing weezer.
EWBAITE proved my point to a number of friends: Rivers never lost his ability to write a good/great album, but he’s more interested in being prolific than he is being a viable artist.
If rivers would just sit the fuck down and put the full effort in, I feel like he could be considered an all-time writer
He just refuses to do that
I feel this with this SZNZ project he has going for. The guy's releasing a lot of music this year yet none of it feels particularly interesting or memorable to me. I can listen to it and think it sounds nice, I just don't feel like wanting to go back to it

@@autumn_leaves1011 i feel about the same. SZNZ is great musically but it really lacks the emotional aspect that ewbaite gives me
@@harrylane4it’s been intentional sabotage since his first stay at Harvard & the soi, for whatever reason, still haven’t made comprehension
Sebastian should have been called
Jason therefore making the band
Jason and the astronauts
I think this album is the best since Pinkerton. Each song of EWBAITE from being to end just grabs me and, I just can't stop listening.

Love the anomaly of Weezer fans putting out content, subscribed! 👍
Make believe is excactly that but Haunt you every day is an absolute masterpiece!!!!
love this channel

I think the album is very good, and a return to form for Weezer. They have risen past the disappointment of their first singles from the album to deliver something very solid and lovely.
“Small indie label-epitaph” LMFAOOO
Yeah, I noticed that too. Epitaph may be an "indie" label but they're the big dog in that game.
3rd best album in the Weezer catalog.
I like this channel. Ready for more videos.
Damn, your videos are so well edited.
I hope some day you get more recognition for your work.
This vid is great. I'm interested in you as general content creator. Good luck with your channel.
Top 3 Weezer album.
these videos are so hype
Love these vids.
This vid is well edited, good research. I really enjoyed it.

This video is great and edited very well. I love it👍
Watched two videos so far but came to say I subscribed after using THPS1 music @ 8:16
Another MarcwithaC Weezer video? What a perfect way to spend a break.

Everything Will Be Alright In The End is a fantastic rock album.
Personally, I like this album. Great vid!
Small gripe - it's LINER notes, not LINEAR notes.
This is the album that brought me back into the fandom. Brilliant video!

EWBAITE is the second best post-Pinkerton album in their discography. White Album is first. Also "Return to Ithaka" sounds like Mega Man.
OK Human is right up there too though, that album is so damn good.
This video is amazing✌
This video sent me on a weezer rediscovery journey back when I thought they only had two good albums.
are you gonna do every album?
I’m sure as hell gonna try lol, some have more info than others
I didn't know I needed this Weezer tv show, but thanks!
