Another reminder that 80's music had true magic - a lot more than what you hear today.
I'm 55 yrs old this sound can't be replaced..those that didn't experience this first hand won't understand. Brings a tear hearing this again to a simple time in
Most here's lives!!
A great band from 1983. It was a great time to be a teenager and listening to wonderful music such as Kajagoogoo.
Me too ❤ I was teenager 😮
Powerful Me too❤It was a best time of my life😊
A long hot summer & great music, being 14 & meeting girls, brilliant times
@@Machan993So was I😃
Yes it was one of my fave 80s bands loved their videos and white featjers album seen then in concert 83 manchezter apollo limahl and stuart my faves
I’m so obsessed with kajagoogoo. WHY DOESNT’T ANYONE TALK ABOUT THEM!??? they are so beyond underrated it is INSANE. Nick beggs is such a talent too. He’s VERY handsome, charismatic, and an amazing bassist. Same with the rest of the band, but Nick has always stood out to me. He’s a really fun guy, and the band wouldn’t be the band without him. His funky bass style is just awesome and I just love the way he plays. AND HE CAN SING TOO!!! big apple and turn your back on me are my favorite songs on the planet, good examples of Nick’s AMAZING voice! very under-appreciated and very talented group of people. I ordered a CD of theirs a few days ago and I can’t wait to get it. I just can’t get enough of kajagoogoo. this song in particular is also one of my favs, ugh it’s just so so good. I’ve listened to it like 5 times in a row lmao.
Me too, i agree with you
Nick
ruined the Band with his Jealousy , obviously.
This Band was Killed by Male Ego. Limahl is an execptional Great Singer, Beggs was a Great Bassist....THEY didnt find a Way to Peacful CoExist. I bet it was about Woman and Attention...on Nicks Site. He wasnt Happy with Limahl getting more like him....and the typical Point of this Tragedy is that Beggs had enough Female Fans to be Pleased.. too but he wanted more. He wanted Stuff,Fame that wasnt his but Limahls.
Duran Duran f.e succeeded in These Questions by being Friends and Comrades.
But maybe it was also the Support, the Female Fans who sensed that but didnt do anything about it, too. Cause this is Classic Story between Men and it always Happens but sometimes Women prevent it by telling Men better Lies . Doing more for Everybody. But of Course this has also Limits when someone is too Jealous.
I Say Nick ruined it. As a Man from the Outside i Blame him!
And i also bet...that this was a Huge Let Down for the other 2 Members...who had maybe more so the Right to complain. They were pushed totally Aside by Beggs and Limahls Feud.
They didnt Work together for the Best Interest of the Band.
@@g.walter1653 Yes yes i agree with you. There is a video here on youtube where the band takes the stage first to warm up the crowd and then Limahl enters. Well it must have hurt Nick so bad.
Nick stop commenting on your own videos mate 🤣
Limahl’s voice sounds so beautiful in this song!!
This song is so dreamy with that distinct 80’s sound. Limahl is a heart melter 😍🫠
Limahl has the perfect voice for this song, soothing and comforting at the same time. I can't think of anyone better to sing it.
Boy George
This is the embodiment of all calm songs.
I'm obsessed with this song!
Excellent song, never owned an album of there’s came across by chance. Proper 80s music 👍
I imagine what it must have been like to be young in the 80s, living in a rich country with so many good bands like this
It was awesome.
@@michaeljenkins302Facts. No time like it. It was incredible.
I was 4 years old when this was released, living in the UK. A great time.
I lived the 80s in my twenties. It was a decade of magic unequaled by any other.
The 80’s was a great decade. Wish the music of today was more like back then.
Me too, partner.
Same with me
Rita Ora with 'Anywhere' is coming close. I'm a kid who grew up in the 80's. Love that music. Especially everything written, produced and arranged by Stock Aitken Waterman.

Limahl had the perfect voice for new wave pop! Such a smooth song!!!
Such a great song! Gorgeous keyboards and melody
This takes me back to the long hot summer of 1983 & being 14 years old, brilliant times & fond memories
The best songs were made in the 80's decade. I m so blessed to lived my youth in those glorious years.
I love the guitar line in the last part of the song.
Limahl, what a beautiful song, amazing voice, and sooooo good looking! This song is No. 1 all the way no one even comes close to his voice.
I love songs from the 80's
Have tears in my eyes.... So many memories, what a beautiful song, what a beautiful Video. Im so thankful to be born in 1969, no one can take this time away from me. Everyone who has seen this knows what i mean..........

Kajagoogoo is so underrated... What a song, what a band.
Sara Moonlight i agree with you they made beautiful songs in the early 80’s. Nick Beggs a very talented bass player
Sara Moonlight It would have been interesting to see where they could have taken their career as a band if they had kept Limahl as the vocalist. Squabbling has been the demise of many a great band.
Did you see the Reunion in a british TV Show? It was so emotional to see them all together. 💕 Was a nice thing 👍 I was fascinated about Nick.... He is a very nice and talented person. 😊
THE. MOST. UNDER. RATED 80s BAND. PERIOD! this song is their best, but ISLANDS album without Limahl is amazing.
Adam : I agree Islands is AMAZING. But I honestly love every incarnation of Kaja and Limahl’s career. Have u heard Hurricane by Kaja or Love In Your Eyes by Limahl??!!
Swoony, ambient, harmonic brilliance, beautiful vocal, beautiful everything and such an underated song. ❤
What a voice!!!
Early 80s golden era for pop music .
Why can’t my life be like an 80s music video 😎🖤
I hear ya 😁
☹Ditto.
So true !!!
Same girl😭
I've been going back in time in my dreams lately. This past week I had a dream I was at the mall with my mom and I was running around with my brother doing something on our own. I remember the carpet the way the people are dressed the music in the mall and just everything about it it totally took me back to when I was a kid in the 80s and it was so realistic when I woke up I just wanted to go back. Now I'm in my early forties, but I'm so glad I got to live in those times.
He is gorgeous. Love his eyes, hair, just his whole vibe. Such an underrated band!!!
ステキなPV💕 80年代の夢が甦ります…❤️ 具体的にどんな夢?って聞かないでね🐱 楽しさ、憂鬱、希望、儚さ、淋しさetc.
I really like this song. Never knew they had other songs. Limahl is gorgeous. The colors of the video are so 80s.
They had a LOT of great singles and videos! Check out "Ooh to Be Ah," "The Lion's Mouth," "Big Apple," "Shouldn't Do That," and many more, which are available here on UA-cam!
It's great, right? It's so great, in fact, that it's my favorite song in the world. No joke! It reminds me of the woman I'm in love with, and the one I'm going to marry one day. Cross your fingers!
Aside from "Too Shy," their best song is "Magician Man."
@@ZaragonTrimaximalist That's a good one, too.
You must be from the US then, even then though in many interviews/documentaries did say about there other hit singles/albums in Europe!
one of the best songs of Kajagoogoo...i love the piano interlude at 2:16
I love that part of the song.
Yeeey goosebumps
The bridge/middle eight...
Yes that and the edgy synth at the end. Mmmmmm! Superb!
One of my favorite songs. Limahl's voice was perfection.
His voice sounds SO lush and gorgeous!
This tune is so good and captivating - vocals underlying keyboards + guitar are subliminally hypnotizing😮a real stunner and gem❤💎😊
I agree, Stuart Neal on keyboard is top class on this track.
Yeah, perfect song, and Limahl's voice so smooth ❤
wow.. a ghost of a great tune from the fabulous 80's that decade was the best hands down!! 41 years ago!!! take me back spock!!
To everyone wondering who the girl is- her name is Carmen Squire. She's the daughter of the late Chris Squire, bass player of the classic rock band Yes. I read somewhere that the director of this video was also friends with the Squires. Since young Carmen was already training to become a model and actress by this time, she was a natural and logical choice for this role. For reference- I turn 51 this November, so I was the same age as Carmen when this song and video came out. I was totally in love / lust with her back then. Even today, as a middle-aged woman, she's STILL a hottie! After years of dabbling in modeling, acting, and even some music recording, she's now a successful voice-over actress.
The purpose of the video is NOT to promote the exploitation of a minor. The theme is that of a young girl daydreaming / fantasizing about being swept off her feet and romanced by her favorite pop idol- something that teen girls ( and boys ) very commonly do. God knows I had plenty of fantasies involving Vanity, Sheila E., Susanna Hoffs, and Ann & Nancy Wilson when I was a teen :) .
Wow! Thank you for that great fact. I never knew this. I love this song and the video is great.
That's just wow, 80s were a magnificent decade of true *"fan-tasizing"* MJ, Davide Bowie, George Michael, Bon Jovi , Limhal and so many others girls would just love to daydream about.
@russ g Vanity ( RIP) and Sheila E. were both musical proteges of Prince, and highly successful R&B artists back in the 80s and early 90s. Susannah Hoffs was / is the lead singer of The Bangles. Ann and Nancy Wilson are sisters, the lead guitarist and vocalist of the rock band Heart, which has been around since the 70s.
When you were a Duranie- you followed all of their projects. This group was a discovery (?) of Nick Rhoads. MTV ran music stories every half hours and being a teenage girl - we were always thirsty for any Duran info. Still love that song, and of course ‘Too Shy’.
I'm also Kristofer , but as it is pronounced in my language and, well almost the same age (53 in february). So, I also had planty of fantasies involving many girls in videos beside, as I was more rocker, Nena, Joan Jett, Blondie, as my girlfriends dreamed about George Michael, Limahl, ...
What I want to say about KGG ... when Limahl left the band I stoped to listened to them and some five years ago when I discovered them again I realised that in many ways they become more better. Well, Limahl is Limahl and he gave the band a big meaning.
Masterpiece🎉🎉❤❤
I love this song. I first saw a clip of it during an MTV commercial in 1983 (that commercial is on YT as well) and I almost immediately recognized them as the same group who did “Too Shy” but still never saw the whole video on MTV. It took me many years to find out that this video aired in light rotation and it’s a wonder I never got to see the video. But no matter, It’s a great song and needless to say I’m able to listen to it whenever I can. Who else is listening in 2024?
That's why I'm a solo artist. I'm the star and that's it. I wanted to be in a group, but I kept running into too many problems.
Great song.Kajagoogoo were a brilliant '80s band.l remember them well.Where has the time gone!
Really like this track and when the piano kicks in, sends you into orbit. Kajagoogoo so underrated.
Nick Beggs, one of the best-underrated bassist ever! I got to see him live last year with Howard Jones, the best personal concert ever!
I agree!! Dont forget John Taylor too🙏🙏🙏
Holy crap! That must've been an amazing concert! So jealous!!
I agree ! And that's way Rad !!
so who underrated him?
This feels like a dream
LIMAHL IS JUST SO GOOD LOOKING!!!! AND HIS VOICE IS SO DREAMY WHAT A VOICE I SAY HE HAS THE MOST FANTASTIC VOICE OF ALL LOVE SONGS I HAVE EVER HEARD HERE IN THE U.S. HE WINS THEM ALL!!!!
At 2:15 the moment of the piano is just sublime !!!! This song is in perfect harmony with the magic of the 80s.
Absolutely true. Very intense moment.
completely agree with you, here in France, the radio of my region used this piece of piano, for their credits
Lands on a key change, but the run up to it is so genius you feel you've landed in a different universe.
What a song! The verses are even more melodic than the chorus!
great band & excellent bass player.
November 2023 and I’m still in love with kajagoogoo and this song💜
I Can Can Listen To This Song Over & Over Again
Me Too :) It's so romantic, relaxing and sexy :)
same I’ve listened to it 5 times in a row. it’s addictive
Sensual Limahl voice
リマール君のルックスもさることながら 歌の上手さと 何たって
この「声 」❕ 最大の魅力でした。 Too Shy ともに名曲 大好きでした♥
Some say the 7 second cameo was the final straw that started the bass player's plot to oust Limahl from the group. That and the fact Hamill got first choice of all the girls and had a better haircut
'First choice of the girls'?! LOL! Limahl was as gay as a goose, he was no competition on that front (he lived with DJ Paul Gambaccini for some years).
another magic song from the 80s , in fact it was from the summer of 1983, superp.
Perhaps the best looking, best sounding U.K. band ever. I love the synth work and vocals. 5 stars all the way! Kajagoogoo 4-ever even though they broke up🎸💙.
This song blew my Mind in the 80's - and still does.
best song ever
I was in high school during their run. Only remember Too Shy. After revisiting their songs in these later years I realize this band had great musicianship. Highly underrated. Wish they could have lasted. Limahl had a great voice. They had more to offer.
I love Christopher Hammil here; he was the soul of this band ❤ Sorry Nick, but the best phase was with Limahl.
Fans are fun.
I still have this on vinyl love the bass guitar in this song miss the 80s sound
Mys 80's 😭
The best song on the album.
Limahl's departure and Kajagoogoo fading from the view was such a trauma. I wanted shiploads more of this music.
Yeah, me too 😢
On another note, fluffy cockatoo hair and trilby hat was not that inspired a style choice...
The baseline, piano and voice of limahl= perfection.
What an 80s feeling. And like here, one often had the feeling that every single good musician had contributed his part to the music.
Lyrics:
No sooner than I turn my back and then
It's so hard to find
I'm on the decline with you
Were I to know your feelings...
Is there something between me and you?
Can't pretend you surprise me
And baby it's hurting me too
Hang on girl, meet my heart
It knows the best time for new love to start
Hang on now, meet my heart
It knows the best time for us to start
Hang on girl (hang on girl)
Won't you remain?
Those special moments together
I don't understand
But can't we go ahead as we had planned?
I've questioned all your reasons
Underneath I can see
Somewhere my stolen lover
Who really should still be with me
Hang on girl, meet my heart
It knows the best time for new love to start
Hang on now, meet my heart
It knows the best time for us to start
Hang on girl, meet my heart
It knows the best time for new love to start
Should I hang on - should I stay?
What's the ransom - I will pay?
Hang on girl, meet my heart
It knows the best time for new love to start
Hang on now, meet my heart
It knows the best time for us to start
Gracias.
Really a great sound, this was such a revolutionary style in 1983. It really was the break between the past and the future. They had such awesome sounds, and a beautiful voice too. England had some very innovative music at this time with culture club, and Duran Duran, and subsequently George Michaels. The best music was in demand, it was the most competitive time in music and this is what it took to get ahead and bring something new and innovative to the field. I just love the sounds they're making with the sound synthesis and the guitar, plus the music video is fascinating because just 5 years before was deep into disco with song like Street Player by Chicago.
One of my favourite Kajagoogoo songs. So smooth. Limahl great voice. Nick Beggs also has a nice voice too.
Nothing but good memories. Wonderful times to be around
Just realised Jim Hensson got much inspired by this video for his 1986 Labyrinth.
The hairstyles of Jarred’s ( David Bowie) and Limahl’s are almost the same
UK #13 12/6/1983
Sonically even stronger than "Too shy" if you ask me.
Steve Askew's guitar work, the keyboards and Nicks' bass create a haunting mood and atmosphere here. One of THE tunes that define the early 80s and the New Romantic era. 12" version also highly recommended - musical bliss ❤
It's the slickest, most mesmerizing tune of the '80s. Even with Spandau Ballet and Sade considered.
Hes so dreamy ❤
Beauty girl,beauty song❤

Kajagoogoo obsessed and not ashamed. I think the band should reunite and create original video game music for modern games trying to catch 80’s retro vibes.

Always loved this particularly the lush multi-layered production quality.
YES! Me too.
Truly sublime production. Other worldly music from another century.
Co-produced by the same person who produced Duran Duran's Rio album, Colin Thurston, and also by Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran himself.
What I find so interesting about this song aside from the killer bass, keyboards and vocals is that when it first starts it feels like we’re joining a song already into progress.
My favorite song on the album. Cool song great band.
Underrated track. This video makes me want to be a part of it
What a sweetheart the girl in this video is. Especially the balcony scene. So adorable to watch her honest lovestruck interaction with a savvy Limahl 😍 Also love the wonderful animations, heck I love it all. Been a fan from day 1 🤭
