My thought about fine art photography is its something extraordinary. This means you don’t commonly see it. It’s something out of the ordinary. This exceptional quality to me defines fine art.
I agree with you for your favorite pic. I think, fine art photography is a very special thing to do. It is the magic of negative space. You are one of the masters in this.
I agree with you on the art part. Art is in the eye of the beholder, just like beauty is. Photography is doing your best to capture the moment and do as much as you can "in-camera".
Great vid...got some good ideas again !! I agree with your choice of best shot...love the ethereal fog look ! But i like the glassy shot with sky color too.
Great set of images. I feel fine art photography is any photograph that has the unique qualities that the photographer wants to show. They are not snapshots or accidents but images that really show the intent and style of the photographer.
I think what it takes to be considered fine art is having skills and the basics of photography to make great photographs which are fine art. Because photography is a form of art.
I don't think that there is a finer photographic channel on UA-cam. Always informative, interesting and well presented from someone who doesn't take himself too seriously. But the one thing that sets you apart from so many others is the sheer quality of your images. Another thoroughly enjoyable video, as have been the interview ones.
Nice to see you shooting in Dovercourt East Anglia opposite from where the TV show Hi De Hi was filmed, just 20 minutes up the coast from my home town. The famous wooden lighthouses of Dovercourt, love the photos far better than anything I could achieve and I have tried, Last One being my favourite.👍
Gary, I realy enjoyed your video! I was looking at Fine Art and what is it excately. Amazing shots. And the results are amazing. My favorite black and white at the end. I AM looking forward to swe more videos of yours:-) Greetings from Spain.
Great shots. Love your videos, Gary. I do believe you need that 15 stop filter. Think about it. You use a 10 stop, add a 3 stop Grad. Then cut more light by going to f/16. You've mentioned several times that your rig runs best at f/11. That tells me that you need a 15 stopper. You've got me planning a 2-1/2 hour trip to what we, in Ohio, call the North Coast. That would be Lake Erie. It has a surf, several miles-long beaches, full size ships, can't see across it. Looks and acts like an ocean, except it's fresh water. When the weather is right, there will be warnings. There will be 6 to10 foot swells, or more. I know a few who like going out on that, but not me. I'm a land-lubber. Keep up the good life, you inspire me. Charlie
thank you for the video. you have presented a good aspect of fine art photography and made me more familiar with and therefore more attracted to this genre of picturing.
Gary, this is definitely Fine Art photography. I have been following you for a while now and you never seem to lack enthusiasm for your subject, fair play to you. Keep up the good work my friend, look forward to the next piece of inspiration.
I like how you take such simple subject matter and create such amazing photos.. Gets one thinking about possibilities of subject that are overlooked. Great video Gary.
Hey Gary. You nailed it. Your photos are excellent and the one I like most is the one you said is your favorite. This is a great video. Keep up the great work. Cheers from Western North Carolina - the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
Art is clearly what you have produced. You've taken an already captivating structure and produced different interpretations of it and it's coastal environment. The photographs are interesting and pleasurable.. So there is your impact..!! Also the people who designed and built the lighthouse were (in my view) artists also.. Art and artists are winning all the way..!!!
What a treat to the eye ! Absolute joy ! Great video Mr Gough! I would not concern myself with an exact wordy definition be it fine art or not it is certainly Art by full definition of the word!
This and the last one are my favorites too. But I dont like the gravel forground on the 12:10 picture. The stones are to sharp, it doesnt fit the mystic / silky theme of the rest of the image in my opinion
I like how you show examples what is considered fine art. Although I think what it makes fine art is having photography skills and the basics in order to create photographs to be considered fine art.
Great video Gary beena long time lurker without commenting and just come across the Photonerds podcast as well which imho is ths best photography (sometimes that is) podcast. Keep it up.
