Maybe mine, too... When this LP came out I had a '72 Cutlass convertible and this cassette (yes :-) stayed in play all summer. It's such a descriptive song... 'and all about summer.
This was one of those albums you played all the way through with no fast forwards over and over. This is my 2nd favorite song on this album...it's beautiful
To be honest, an OKish version of IMO one of his best and easily most underrated songs...so powerful. Impressed if not amazed that he ever played this live; not exactly a "concert tune."
This tune is nothung short of glorios. His voice isvlike the reincarnation of Leon Russell. So painful, longing, authentic, and so so hauntingly beautiful. John Hornsby crushed these lyrics. Bruce animated them and sang them perfectly.
When the first album came out, my oldest best friend told me, "You have to hear Bruce Hornsby & The Range, because Bruce plays piano, like you do!!" (My hands have been on a keyboard since I was about 9.) I bought the tape of "The Way It Is".........and then I bought the SHEET MUSIC BOOK for it!!! I still have it!!! Bruce is an unsung musical hero.

Beautiful song. I bought the album about 27 years ago from a car boot sale. Nearly wore it out.
