Compressors are always a tough thing to demonstrate on youtube. I had to stop the video and move to my home studio where my better speakers are to really hear the difference. Some things were more obvious. and probably recommended that most people wear headphones for this video.
@@mynameistechno when I said good speakers, I meant my studio reference speakers. Compression can make a difference with speakers too, depending on what is being done. Where I see it's biggest use is when using an instrument that can vary in intensity as it's being played. Like acoustic guitar with open harmonics mixed with regular notes. Compression can bring all those notes to a relative intensity so some notes won't get lost under other instruments.
Not a tremendous fan of what Pultec-style EQ's do to the low end, but wow, that compressor is creamy smooth and musical. Oh, just realized it's called the Crème, so I guess it has a pretty descriptive name!!
That's because this is a solid-state Pultec, not a tube Pultec. Tubes fold, and when they fold, they thin out and distort the low end. With a solid-state Pultec, the low end will be deeper and more focused. ;)
Great video brother! I respect the hustle and the effort you put into these videos. I know you probably don’t get paid much to do this but your knowledge is appreciated!
Outboard compressors shine with acoustical instruments, vocals and some raw analog synths. For EDM or virtual instruments , VST compressors are more than sufficient. An i7-8086K with 64 GB DDR4 helps a bit too !
I understand WHY the 12 people who didn't like this video hit the dislike button, but they are not looking at the bigger picture. Adding compression isn't meant to make something sound bassier, it's meant to give loudness to the quiet bits to make a track sound even, so that when you boost the whole thing at the limiting stage it's loud as well as nicely balanced. I can master a track, just not sure I explained it well enough... Is that right Claudio?
When you showcase your Shadowhills it would be great to show the new Brainworxs Shadowhills Class A in comparison. To me this is one of the very few Software compressors that feel like Hardware. I LOVE it. Also I own the Creme ;) - and YES it is on EVERY Master that I do :)
Hi, hope you're well. Did you see the Dua Lipa Hallucinate BBC News Theme remix? Could you please work out the BBC News theme, I'd love to know how to play/sequence it.
Kind of hard to follow the changes ... you were talking so loud and so much over the track it was hard to pick out the exact effects that were happening.
Did you replace your cassette recorder with a DAT? Man, you must wear out the rack screws in that studio with how often you swap hardware in and out! It's different in every video!! :)
unffortunetly i think don't have the right audio divce/equipement to apreciate as much as possible this type of vidéo 'cause i don't really ear the small différence on the start of the mastering off this vidéo even if my ear is good ( higher than te average i think)
@@Doctormix ahh I know, I guess it is cheap when you put it like that, but how does free software compression and EQ compare to the real thing? And could you tell them apart?
I don't really know compressors, at least not all the settings you're talking about. You're going too quick for me. Can't hear all the nuances you're speaking about :( It would be nice to watch a beginners introduction ! :)
Love your outboard videos. Particularly compressors. Thanks for the great vid!
You are the best, Doctor Mix!
I love these types of more mixing-focused videos!

Del Scoville was a gonna write
the same thing
the whole point of compression isnt just to make it sound good on headphones. when its not coming through my hifi speakers - its useless.

Bravo! Thanks for what you're doing. May you and yours be, and stay well. ~~~~
Awesome and super energy with style and panache. Inspiring to hit my compressor so aggressively.
Davvero un bello studio, complementi Claudio
Also, could you possibly make chariots of fire? Please do this!
I am looking forward to the demonstration of the 'Shadow Hill Industry' compressor. Won't you? 😉
Saya sangat menyukai apapun yang Dr.Mix unggah selama ini, terima kasih :-)
Doctor mix goodness

Only video today that made me put on my headphones.
Thanks for the sweet videos, Doc. I was not impressed by this unit. C'est la vie!
Weird was literally looking on your channel last night at 3 am for a demo of this thing haha
2 A.M. here ))
I recognized the Shadow hills compressor than we can see in your Doctor Mix intro! lol
Very subtle and transparent, it means you can make similar master in digital domain. I prefer less transparent compressors.

Claudio your the best . le meilleur . VOILA :-)
Love the demo tune. Thanks for the informative video. Any chance you could discuss your distressors? 😎👍🏼❤️
Great video! Where can I buy the Teleger creme rc in the United States? I can't find it anywhere. Thank you
Excelente video
Great video and idea! 👍😁
Tegler is great creme and also magnetism 2
Very nice sounding and old looking device. Can some SW compressor beat HW one like this?
I can't say that I've ever seen a SW beat the HW it comes from.. yet!
@@Doctormix Thank you for your reply Claudio!
Can we download that song anywhere? It’s fire!
Hi Claudio, Whats that track? can you share the dwnload link? like that!!! Id like to play it in my chill-out sets... Thanx, R.
Which Yamaha Monitors would U recommend? HS5, HS7 or HS8
Nice! The compressor professor ;)
Hey doctor mix🖐🖐😊😊

Hi Claudio Nice demo, but this not a valve unit it’s a ssl-ish comp and a solid state pultec-ish EQ
the creme is vca not valve isn't ?
That's an awesome song you're using as the demo! What is it?
old library music I made ...that's from years ago!
@@Doctormix Cool! It sounds amazing ^.^
Loved the song!
😻 NIAOW Claudio / THE TWINS - BALLET DANCER (1983) ❤️🇩🇪
niaow niaow!!!
Listen to my brother and do a remake of My Mine-Hypnotic Tango. Love from Italy ❤️🇮🇹
My Mine - Hypnotic Tango
İ look shadow hill
hahaha yes!
Kind of hard to follow the changes ... you were talking so loud and so much over the track it was hard to pick out the exact effects that were happening.
Why on earth would you buy so many anologue compressors?
Radio Stations use compression to bump up the sound levels without distortion.
Looking forward to the shadow hill industries

we do swap a lot! Gear keeps on going from one room to another!
@@Doctormix Time to network your switching gear Claudio, so any studio can use any hardware in any studio!
time to put on the headphones, this is getting too creamy for cheap speakers^^

Could you recreate "Baby be mine",By Michael Jackson please.
I'm in love all this things in your
channel, Thanks with love from Thailand fan.
I'm the first one to view this video
indeed!
I like all the music instruments and amplifiers and your stuff
@@vishalacharya5903 good!!
And also I like your dance style...😅
I'd prefer to hear what this can do with just a drum machine
The compressor blows, but the EQ is sweet.
£1500?? Wow, this hobby ain't cheap! Neeeeeext!!!!
man compare to anything else.. 1500 is CHEAP for a unit that does valve compression and EQ at Mastering grade level!!
@@Doctormix ahh I know, I guess it is cheap when you put it like that, but how does free software compression and EQ compare to the real thing? And could you tell them apart?
Jonathan Lawrance not everyone is a hobbyist. Not everyone is a professional. The short answer is yes, a difference could be heard to a trained ear.
I don't feel like doing it today😟
Thanks but less talk and more music. still dont know what this sounds like.
Uuuuh ....this sound
yeah baby!
hmm nothing special here
