  • After designing a ported box for my single Rockford Fosgate P3 10 inch subwoofer, it's finally time to cut out the parts and put it together! I used a table saw to carefully cut out all the parts from 3/4in MDF (Medium Density fiberboard). I cut out the subwoofer hole with a router and special guide. Then I assembled it with, drill, impact driver, liquid nails, silicone caulking. and wood screws. Thanks for Watching, have fun, and be safe!

    Man, the memories from the late 80's building sub boxes running Rockford Fosgate amps and Cerwin Vega subwoofers. We used to spend Saturday's building them and trying different sizes to see how it affected the sound and punch. I don't want to take up cargo space now in my Jeep (I camp a lot), but building a system for the house would be a lot of fun to do. Got me thinking and smiling cranking up the old 80's hair bands again! Peace! Pete in AZ

      I bet that was a cool time to be alive! I hear that, might look into an under seat subwoofer. I installed it in my 4runner to save space for camping and have loved it ever since, installing another in my van soon. ua-cam.com/video/6sJp7XVlBPw/v-deo.html best of luck! a house subwoofer would be cool for sure

      @@4WheelKid It was definitely a good time for music. All we had back then was the radio and we couldn't wait to hear albums being released and played on the air by our favorite DJ's (Dave Pratt on 98KUPD in Phoenix, AZ, for example). I'm going to keep the house system idea for when I get a man cave soon (40' conex box on land near the main house). I have watched a lot of your TW200 videos and will be checking out the van build!

  • @RobHTech
    @RobHTech 3 роки тому +1

    nice vid. I suppose you could always use two different size boards, 1/2" X baffle or 3/4" X baffle, then 3/4" for the sides, or something like that, esp. if space is limited.
    Does 3M 77 or another 3m spray or gorilla glue spray work for carpeting a fiberglass box?

    Quick question will the subwoofer enclosure itself flex from the vibration

    Nuce job but I dont recommmend using liquid nails adhesive, use wood glue its so much stronger and will last alot longer than any adhesive

    • @4WheelKid

      thanks! yeah I have heard it both ways

    • @TrollsAreUs1320
      @TrollsAreUs1320 3 роки тому

      Actually wood glue would be worse, it’s hard as wood so it can crack where as liquid nails or all purpose loctite is better because it’s more elastic and takes longer to get as hard as wood glue, so it would be harder for the subwoofer to vibrate it apart

    • @cjon24s69
      @cjon24s69 3 роки тому +1

      @@TrollsAreUs1320 liquid nails is garbage for building boxes, wood glue is much stronger and wood glue will not crack. Any flex in the joints (youll have much more flex with loctite) youll lose output. Never use liquid nails to build a sub box.

    • @TrollsAreUs1320
      @TrollsAreUs1320 3 роки тому

      I promise you from experience, wood glue over time will crack it gets too hard, otherwise he would use that only, that’s why he uses the liquid nails as a sealant not as to hold the box together. He’s using screws to keep it tight and the LN as sealer

    • @cjon24s69
      @cjon24s69 3 роки тому +1

      @@TrollsAreUs1320 If you build enclosures like me and take the time to get straight cuts there is absolutely no need for liquid nails or any sealant, the glue will be sandwiched between the joining surfaces and there will be no gap. I still have my first enclosure I built when I was 15, going on 6 years now sitting in my garage in all climates. And Ive never ever seen or heard of wood glue cracking. You must have used some terrible glue. If you had proper cure time and clamp force, wood will always crack before the glue.

    I wish someone would tell the guy how dangerous mdf is for your lungs. A dust mask will not protect you. When punching holes in mdf if you are burning board and inhaling dust with fumes with no respiratory protection this is how you get cancer or worse.. When handling clean mdf with bare hands you need to wash hands extremely well after because it contains formaldehyde
