Lay it on the Line is another song that really puts Rick Emmett’s vocals on full display. Their song Rock and Roll Machine is a rock classic in Canada and the US.
I LOVE Triumph! Rik Emmett is awesome. Watching them in concert, front row, he played so effortlessly. We got to go back stage & meet them. What a bunch of nice guys! You're right, BJ. There's not a bad song by them.
This song used to be popular because it perfectly described what music was to the average person and how you really wanted and waited to hear your song come on the radio. Today you can listen to your song as many times as you want digitally. So now it’s more of a time piece of what it was like back then. That’s what it was like until the iPod! It’s just an amazing song and I’m glad you guys reacted to it!
If you really want to hear Triumph at their best react to Fight The Good Fight live at the US Festival in 1983! Triumph is majorly underrated! Magic Power is pretty good, but Fight The Good Fight live blows all of their songs away and all their songs are good!
@@thetattooedvaper4081 Wow! Lucky man, that would've been a blast, but I probably wouldn't have stayed to watch the new wave bands, not my cup of tea! The rock and metal bands I would've stayed and listened to. In 1983 I was 18 but I lived in Albuquerque and my mom wouldn't have let me travel that far, I was able to see most of the rock and metal bands when they came to Albuquerque! Now most major bands bypass Albuquerque altogether! Anyway, you are very lucky to have been there on those very hot, but rockin' days!
It's really something that they are just a three piece band but even more amazing is that Rik Emmitt has this powerful voice and he's the lead guitar, he is a great guitarist and his songs are always so positive. A great Canadian Band
@Asia and BJ It's funny your comparison of Rik and Steve Perry because, in an interview not too long ago, Rik said that both bands toured together when ('78, '79) they both were just getting famous, and they sometimes had a mutual admiration moment for the notes they were each hitting on stage.
*I loved Triumph...and was so happy to see them the one time I did. They were at US Festival '83...and they were really good. LOL, if we didn't have any music...we'd be living in the dystopian world; told to us about on Side One of RUSH's 2112 album.*
One of my all-time favorite songs from one of my all-time favorite bands. So underrated, this is one of the best songs to come out of the early 1980's. The song gets better and better as it progresses and each time you hear it!! Rik Emmett was the lead vocalist.
You need to check them out live , the song " Lay it on the line " from their live in Halifax show is amazing and really shows lead singer Rik emmettts vocal abilities.
Triumph they were another Canadian three-piece band my opinion you need to watch them live they're awesome good react there's plenty of songs to do by them go down the rabbit hole I look forward to keep it up 👍🏼🙏🏻❤️✌🏾💯
I saw Triumph in Reunion arena in 1985, and the Texxas Jam in ‘83. Love them! Rik Emmett is the guitarist and sings lead on this song. The drummer, sings lead on a few of their songs, too.
The lead singer/guitarist is Rik Emmet. He has always been my inspiration as a musician. They are a 3-man Canadian band. You REALLY need to see their live videos. Live in concert is where they really shine. Look for every video from the 'Live From Halifax' concert.
Like Rush, another Canadian band, it was just 3 members making this beautiful sound. I saw Triumph back when they did this tour. Rick Emmett, the lead singer and guitarist is amazing. Several songs were also sung by the drummer.
Close to a perfect song. Loved my little transistor radio. Could hide it from my parents under my pillow and listen late at night. Along with being on the phone without them knowing it.
I love this band! For another Triumph song with great powerful lyrics and music check out Ordinary Man!! Triumph was a great hard rock / metal band, and Rik Emmett's vocals... geez! Magical!
Rick Emmett was the lead singer. The drummer sang too. His name is Gil Moore. He doesn't have a voice like Rick Emmett but he's good also. He sang some good songs too. Just love Triumph ❤️
Great reaction and thanks for sharing. The band became an over night sensation when they appeared at the 1983 US festival and played a handful of songs in front of a huge crowd. 'Magic Power' 'Fight the Good Fight' and 'Lay it on the line' were in that set and they were considered one of the best of the bands that played that festival. Even though you have done reactions to their music, I would still recommend that you react to the same songs but live at the US festival and enjoy what the band was about. Which was masterful live performances. Chris
Absolutely Triumph gave You Guys The Magic Power of The Music! Have Always given me that place to be Happy! Rik Emmett Is one of The Singers and also plays lead Guitar and The Drummer Gil Moore is the other Singer you have not played any songs he sings yet!
I LOVE TRIUMPH!!! Lay It On The Line and Fight The Good Fight...Check them out from 1983 live show. SOOOOO underrated. Rik has some good interviews lately on youtube about song writing. Very humble dude!
Now that you've heard the studio version, give the Live at Halifax a listen . Little fun fact , these guys got their "big break" in the states after Sammy Hagar backed out of a concert . They were in San Antonio playing smaller venues being promoted by a local radio station. They were asked to fill the bill and the rest is rock history. ✌️
Rik Emmet was the singer {primarily) and guitarist from this trio Triumph! Check out their very first song release that broke out the band, "Hold On" from the album The Game. Not to take away from this great song, but it's even better and just as empowering...as BJ put it! I remember those report card whoopens all too well...Seriously , check out the studio cut of "Hold On" their first hit out the gate! You will love it! The masses sure did! FYI... the drummer also sang lead on songs like "I can Survive" it was a hit also!
If you're a fan of guitar please listen to a song called "Rock and Roll Machine" from the album "Stages". Rik Emmett is the singer and guitarist. In my opinion, Triumph was a criminally underrated band. Rik Emmett made it look effortless.
Just imagine hearing this first album hitting America in 1978. I was 15 years old. And then they came to Dallas and played at SMU McFarland auditorium ! I think it only had about 400 seats. The tickets were 8 bucks. But when they performed their show, it was like nothing I had ever seen or heard. They had an amazing LOUD show, with pyrotechnics! We thought they were gonna burn the place to the ground. "The blinding light show" was spectacular!! Was lucky enough to see them 3 more years in a row... Thank you Triumph !! For the amazing memories !! Will never forget !!
All of their songs are positive and uplifting, thats part of what made them so different from the rest! I've been fortunate enough to have seen them in concert 4 times with excellent seats each time!!&!
I seen Triumph in 1984 outdoors with 6 other top bands at Timber Ridge Ski resort in Kalamazoo Michigan!! That was a show!!! The drummer can sing just as well. Follow Your Heart, Tears In The Rain to just name a few he sings. Great band!!!
Every once in a while you guys will play a song/group that I loved as a teenager but over the years have kind of forgotten about Or forgot how much I liked them I should say , You guys are literally reintroducing me to the music of my youth ! Gotta Love that !! ✌️... I still have a couple 100 albums from the 60's 70's and 80's in my storage !
Thanks! Love me some Triumph. I would suggest "Fight The Good Fight US Festival LIVE 1983" or "Never Surrender - Live at US Festival 1983" for them. 😎❤
I played this cd in my car 13 years ago with my 10 year old daughter in the car she absolutely loved this song and strangely enough the cd disappeared she finally told about a year ago it became hers she still listens to it.
Great reaction - another power trio from Canada. Like the prior posts said- You MUST complete the trilogy with Fight the good fight and lay it on the line. Really well structured Power Songs. Air Guitar City - legit
Another great Canadian power trio. Rick Emmett is the singer and lead guitar. Mike Levine on bass, keyboards and backing vocals. Gil Moore drums, backing vocals and did lead vocals on a few songs.
Rik Emmett (lead guitarist) was the singer on this one, but their drummer Gil Moore also sings. Gil's tunes are generally more straightforward rock/party songs (ex. "Tear the Roof Off Tonight") where Rik's almost have an element of progressive rock to them (check out "Ordinary Man"). Definitely recommend you continue your Triumph journey. *BTW as an aside I am enjoying your movie reactions recently, look forward to more!
A definite must listen to if you like Triumph is Fight the Good Fight without a doubt. The lead singer and lead guitarist is Rik Emmett and he wrote Fight the Good Fight for his mom who was dying of cancer at the time.
Asia and BJ, imagine being 16, laying in bed listening to this with headphones on, parents downstairs, that’s a memory from a boomer, we were all about making love, music, and a weekend party. 40 years later the news says be less of my skin color… I will dance with anyone with this wonderful music playing, so blessed to see you two enjoy it, brought tears to an old grey haired mans eyes. that is the energy rock guitar gets in your brain that why we have love it for 30 -40 years that is why we still love it...canadian power trio from canada..
One of the guitarist in a band i use to be in went to see them live. His main reason was that He wanted to see if he (Rik) could really play that guitar while also being the lead singer. His answer was that Emmett did both effortlessly! Note for note and smooth as silk. A man who could give both (Steve Perry and Neil Schon) a run for their money at the same time! Canadians.. hands down.. have produced some of the best musicians in the world.
Fight the Good Fight is a very empowering song!
Everyday
Live in Halifax is one of their best.
@@hunterns37i would argue US festival their best but they were always great live. Better than studio..saw them 3 times. Always exceptional
Lay it on the Line is another song that really puts Rick Emmett’s vocals on full display. Their song Rock and Roll Machine is a rock classic in Canada and the US.
Most definitely..
Or the song from his solo work, "Stand And Deliver". Of course really good guitar work.
Triumph is so underrated, so many of their songs have a great message to them like Fight the Good Fight.
Rik Emmett is one of the most talented rock musicians ever. Lead vocals and lead guitar is rare, and he pulls it off flawlessly
Also his songs are mostly about positive things. I respect that I learned this song on guitar during lock down fun tune
Agreed..in my top 3 of guitarists...Love Triumph
100% Agree
Excellent showman as well
Love this band. They are so under rated . They make so much music for 3 guys. All are so talented.
I'm 61 years old and I'm still young wild and free. Music is the magic..
Keep digging through all this music and you will be young wild and free.
Isn't it an amazing feeling how listening to the songs from your youth can make your heart soar and change your dark day into a bright one.
I LOVE Triumph! Rik Emmett is awesome. Watching them in concert, front row, he played so effortlessly. We got to go back stage & meet them. What a bunch of nice guys! You're right, BJ. There's not a bad song by them.
Jan....not a bad song by them? It's fantastic!!
@@michaelasay8587 I agree. It's fantastic, as are the rest of their songs. This is in my top 3.

Rik Emmett is truly a national treasure. For Canada, but still. Dude is just amazing.
Lead singer AND lead guitarist= Rik Emmett.
He also writes the lyrics and most of the music
A true artist !!!!!
Such an under rated classic rock band with so many great hits.
The song When the Lights go Down, really puts Gil Moores vocals on display.
Everybody seems to forget Gil sings and he's pretty damn good too.
