Endometriosis is an estrogen dominant disease. I have struggled with " bad periods" for years. I started having episodes of Vomiting and it turns out that I had ovarian cysts rupturing. I had surgery 2 years ago to remove the cyst that grew to 10cm and had my ovary removed as well. I was diagnosed with endometriosis at that time. I am glad that you are working with a naturopath Doctor. Keep us updated! Your videos are always so informative!

I love this! I recently got off of the pill because it made me SO SAD all the time. I’m not sure if I was legitimately “depressed” but it definitely made me very emotionally unstable and unlike myself. Now my husband and I have been following The Creighton Model (cervical mucus method) for our fertility awareness and it’s been such a blessing for our marriage! I agree there is something so empowering about knowing (and even my husband knowing) my body so well! I hope doing this helps you figure out what’s wrong and manage your symptoms! 💗

This was super helpful!!! I personally had horrible periods when I was younger. There were multiple days in high school where I would stay home from school and times I would literally pass out because my period pain was so bad. Just bad overall, without getting tmi. I've been on the pill for about 5 years now and it's so much better but in the back of my mind I'm always wondering about other options and/or getting off the pill but I'm currently just nervous and not knowledgeable about it all. I'd really love for you to continue sharing your story and all your experiences throughout your journey! Thanks for sharing and starting this conversation!

Please share more on your story! I have also been doing a whole lot of research in regards to hormone imbalance after suffering a miscarriage due to low progesterone. I think this topic is so important and that hormones should be the first thing "checked out" when we are experiencing any weird symptoms (joint pain, inflammation, anxiety) and unfortunately they are usually overlooked.

Becca I love this! I’ve struggled for years, not with painful periods necessarily but with spotting for days before my period, horribly sore breasts and terrible indigestion during ovulation and pms (which felt terrible and no doctor believed me when I said it was related). I was terrified I wouldnt be able to conceive bc I felt so out of whack but I actually did get pregnant rather quickly. However, after weaning my symptoms came back same as before! So I’ve been on a Maca capsule for the last 3 months or so and I’ve noticed a HUGE difference. I just figured it out for myself because western medicine wasn’t any help! You’re smart you will figure it out what works best for you but it def does need to be discussed because a lot of women don’t just skate through the month so easily! Xoxo

I have endometriosis and have a lot of the symptoms you describe. Unfortunately it can only be diagnosed by surgery which I’ve had. BUT ultrasounds may show some warning signs. My ovary was behind my uterus due to adhesions and they saw that on ultrasound as well as ovarian cysts. If you’re not ready for surgery, I suggest pushing for a transvaginal ultrasound just to see if anything looks off - say you have ovary pain and want it checked out. Also, you can do a blood test called CA 125. It’s a test for ovarian cancer but it’s also elevated in many women with endo. Mine was elevated. I didn’t feel comfortable asking my doctor for a cancer test, so I got it from walk-in lab online and went to the closest labcorp for the blood draw.

New subscriber here! Great video! You are definitely not alone--I'm in the same boat with estrogen dominance, and I know how awful it is. I have an extremely healthy lifestyle, but, like you said, stress can be one of the worst things for causing hormonal imbalances. Whenever I go through an extremely stressful period, I'll flat-out lose my period for a few months, and, the more that's happened, the worse it continues to function moving forward. I started acupuncture about a month and a half ago and immediately experienced the best period I've had in about five years. So we'll see. Good luck, and I would love to hear updates about your experience!

Growing up I had really bad periods because I'm estrogen dominant. I would have excruciating pain accompanied by vomiting, hot flashes, weakness, body tremors, the whole nine; and this was EVERY SINGLE MONTH since I was 12. When I started college, I stopped eating meat because the meat at my school didn't taste as good as the meat at home and literally ALL of my symptoms disappeared. It's like my body was like "THANK YOU!" I finally was doing what it wanted me to do.

    • @CycleCoachAcademy
      @CycleCoachAcademy 3 роки тому

Wow - that's an amazing story! Usually with estrogen dominance, we are sensitive to the prostaglandins in meats - they make some people's periods heavier. 100% yay for listening to your body! Does your cycle still feel pain free?

I have been thinking about coming off the pill because I don’t like the idea of putting artificial hormones in my body every month, but I do love how clear my skin is and how light the periods are. I would love for that to be possible without the pill. Also, I think a video about any oils you use for hormone support would be super interesting! Hi Becca! I would LOVE to hear about your journey with a Naturopath! I am about to turn 36 and this last year my body has been going through some really weird shifts with hormones. I have developed fibroids on my uterus and my dr is telling me that I may be going through early menopause :-( She just wants to put me on birth control to try to regulate things but I am really hesitant to do that. It's been about 13 years since I have used hormonal birth control and I don't really want to go back to it because of all of the adverse reactions I had with it......unbearable yeast infections (I'm allergic to yeast so mine were out of control), terrible mood swings, and just generally not mentally stable. Not using hormones though has caused me to have an extremely heavy period and crippling cramps. I am going to pelvic floor physical therapy to help with the pain associated with the fibroids but I would love to learn some natural ways to help with the hormones. Thank you so much for sharing all that you do with us! I loving opening up youtube and seeing that I have a video of yours to watch. :-)

I’d love to hear you touch base on this subject, speaking of hormones and the menstrual cycle, PCOS is something that comes along with that, and I’m sure there are a lot of other suffers out there who would love to hear more about this as it’s highly undiagnosed. Please! Thank you! Xx

Karlee Jamieson have you looked into the inositol supplement? I take it as part of my supplement regimen per my doctor. I buy it from amazon, and a lot of women in the comments say it helps PCOS.

Karlee Jamieson it’s one of the B vitamins so definitely one of the safer options to try.

Yes please do more videos on this topic! Why is it sometimes that my period comes on the first day, with very low flow, and then it takes time for it to fully start?

As I've gotten older, my periods have become brutal, heavy, with cramps so bad I throw up. I think the worst symptom though is the mental toll it takes, I become super depressed and anxious. I was never like this through high school and I would love to figure out how my hormones became imbalanced and how to fix them!

Great video although I thought there would have been more info on the types of foods you should be eating at certain stages of your cycle.

Becca I would love to learn more about hormones and the things that effect them. I’ve had horrible periods for years and the doc put me on the pill but I didn’t like the symptoms it gave me so I stopped taking it about a year ago. I also have very bad hormonal acne that doesn’t go away unless I’m the pill. I would really like to get rid of all this naturally. I’ve cleaned up my diet and I’m drinking a lot of water and I’m hoping that helps. But I’m looking forward to hearing your tips on this!

I had to eliminate soy from my diet, (its in everything) soybean oil, soy lecithin, soy protein etc...after a few weeks my cycle and hormones leveled out...my estrogen wasn't so high, as it had always been. I didn't find out this would help with infertility until after I had already suffered 4 miscarriages, but better late then never :-) I was on the pill over 10 years trying to regulate everything and all I had to do was change what I ate...Hope its that easy for you :-)

Your period sounds a lot like mine till I finally tried acupuncture. I refused to take birth control despite my crippling period but once I did it helped well after I finished my acupuncture sessions

I am on this same type of journey. Based on the symptoms and signs from my period I am estrogen dominant as well. Just last week I started YL progessence plus and I'm looking into adding dragon time and some other things. I'm sure you are probably aware of YL having many products to support hormone balance, but thought I would mention it just in case. Lucy Libido has a great book and FB group dedicated to this type of stuff.

Have you researched endometriosis? Your symptoms sound very similar to what my mom went through (granted it was about 20 years ago, but symptoms are symptoms; treatments may have changed though). She ultimately had a hysterectomy after fighting her doctors who told her basically the same as you said--oh just get back on the pill and try a new one etc. Hopefully, doctors today would listen to your concerns more and may be able to suggest a different treatment option. I hope it's nothing that serious, but it can't hurt to look into it!

OMG would love to hear more about your journey with your naturopath. My chiropractor mentioned that and mentioned calcium magnesium for cramps. And also what you’re doing to get your body back in balance. I’m the same way you are as far as brutal periods....there horrible!! Lol

Have you check out Jessica Murnane? She suffered from extremely painful periods and found out she has endometriosis. Of course, I am not saying that you or anyone else does, but it is great to have the knowledge of what it is! She has a great podcast (One Part Podcast) but just released a course about endo. Thought I would throw it out there incase you or anyone think they might have it. Super informative video Becca, reminded me the Nourishing Womens podcast that I, and you, love!

If I would be throwing up I would go on a raw vegan Daniel fast...
    As I do...
Processed food puts me in agonising pain
Great video I didn't know endorphin was this good for us.
I am here from Kate Flower's Channel where your video was recommended

Kristy Marie I had a lot of trouble with my hormones, one thing that really helped me was incorporating a lot of plant based foods into my diet. Also Maca Powder is great at balancing hormones and helps your over all health.

Kristy Marie I know this comment was left ages ago, but do you mind me asking how you found out you had a hormonal imbalance? I think that’s what I have (painful periods, mood swings, low sex drive), and I told my gynecologist if I could get tested, but all she said was that she needs to know exactly which hormone I think is imbalanced before testing, that hormonal imbalance is very rare and that painful period has no connection to hormonal imbalance... so now I’m really confused and don’t know what to do. If anyone reading this comment knows about this stuff, please let me know!

Would love to hear more about your journey with this! like how things are going for you now and what you're doing/using to try and balance out your estrogen. I'm in a similar boat where I came off of the pill 10 months ago and am getting to know my body and trying to balance my hormones too. You might like the groups on Facebook 'fertility awareness method' and 'FAM OT' the 'off topic' version.

Hey girl! Interesting video, loved learning a little more about our cycles! Interesting enough, I have been doing some research lately too and have heard that yellow maca root powder is supposed to be amazing for us women and helping to balance our hormones. I just got a bag of it today so here’s to hoping! I figured I would share so maybe you could try too and see if it helps ya 💗🤗

Becca, please let us know what you find out about your hormone imbalance. I have a very similar cycle to yours it sounds like. I used to be in terrible pain, throw up, and have to stay home from school until the nurse recommended I go on the pill. I’m still on the pill but have been considering getting off soon. Please let us know what you find out!!

Very informative!! Loved it! Is there anything you can recommend as far as diet/foods to stay away from for acne prone skin? I’ve tried so many different things for topical but know that it also has to do with the food we consume that can effect our skin. Any recommendations?
