The rise of china today was not foreseen, even by Deng. it would come as a complete surprise to Deng, and he would be amazed at the result. My grandfather was a capitalist before 1949, and he owned one of the largest chinese machinery companies. my grandfather suffered heavily during culture revolution. in the 80s Deng asked my grandfather to be a part of a task force to negotiate china’s opening up to the world. my grandfather asked Deng to allow my mother and my grandmother to leave china because my grandfather thought the opening up would create such chaos in china surely he would be facing a firing squad afterwards! deng told my grandfather he would stand next to my grandfather and face the firing squad together if things go south😂. the rest is history as they say. sadly, my grandfather past away in the 90s, overworked trying to get china into WTO., and my grandmother never returned to china after she left in the 80s. i wonder what grandpa would say to Deng if he saw china today

When Deng came to power, he de facto changed CCP‘s ideology from classic marxism-leninism to what we call today as state-capitalism. Mao rigidly exercised class struggle, especially during the cultural revolution period. It emphasized that only the proletariat can be creative, which was not true. Deng understands the problem crystal clear, he knew that the only way to keep CCP regime legit was to develop economy. Like the title said, Deng is the architect of modern China and he picked an excellent successor, Jiang Zemin. He painted the big picture, but Jiang was the one actually made all the changes happen.

Too simple sometimes naive, Does the China success only depends on Deng Xiaoping opening the door? Did ASEAN, India, Africa or Latin America closed doors to the West?
Can we stop explaining China from a foreign perspective? Chinese said "The 30-year historical period after reform and opening-up cannot be used to deny the 30-year historical period before it," so why only Deng Xiaoping is the architect? modern China is only just from 1978??
Modern China is from 1912-Present, so Sun Yat-sen is the first architect of modern China, It was he who overthrew the Manchu feudal monarchy and established the Republic!
Mao Zedong to 1976 is also the most important architect of modern and new China. Foreigners should not slice up Chinese history at will, like Modern America is from 1890-Present, not just after the Cold War, two Roosevelt and Kennedy also belong to the modern history of the United States!
    Chinese people often say:
Mao Zedong made Chinese stand up,
Deng Xiaoping made Chinese get rich,
Xi Jinping makes Chinese great again,
Foreigners often ignore Mao Zedong's contribution but only remember Mao Zedong's Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution in his later years.
But don't forget that Deng Xiaoping's evaluation of Mao Zedong was 30% wrong, 70% correct!
Without Mao Zedong, China cannot be unified then PRC will be another ROC. Illiteracy cannot be eliminated, women cannot be liberated, and religion will still suppress Chinese people's mind, landowners will still block infrastructure construction, then China's social structure is another India!
Without Mao Zedong’s resistance to the United States and the Soviet Union and their proxies in the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Sino-Indian War, the Sino-Soviet War, the PRC would not be an independent country, Chinese will be still encircled and contained by both the West and Russia militarily economically, Deng Xiaoping also fought back Soviet's containment in Third Indochina War, the Soviet-Afghan War, if there's no military rise then PRC might be a communist colony of the Soviet Union like Eastern Europe or Mongolia, or a liberal satellite state of the United States like Europe Union or Japan, I would like to ask if American or Russian troops still stay in PRC today, Could Deng Xiaoping still control important national assets instead of selling them to Wall Street? Could Xi Jinping to counter the trade war, technology war, financial war, even media war from the West??
Even the Great Leap Forward had a positive effect, because it was an example of Mao Zedong rejecting Soviet control and choosing technological independence. Radical industrialization caused severe famine for sure, but at the same time Radical industrialization also left a strong heavy industry foundation, without dams and power plants built by Mao Zedong era, how did Deng Xiaoping take over the light industry transfer from the West?? Isn’t Vietnam always short of electricity today becasue they don't have heavy industry foundation?
Remember, if China got rich it was only because Deng Xiaoping embraced free trade, market economy, so why India, ASEAN, African Union, even Latin America, they have never implemented a communist planned economy, they have always welcomed Western investment, their doors have always been open to the West, China was sanctioned by the West and the Soviet Union simultaneously from 1959 to 1979. But why can China surpass them just by opening the door? Then you have to think about what China did before opening the door!
    too simple sometimes naive

The notion of a slump in China's economy is a misunderstanding of media terms. When compared, the annual growth rate of the G7 industrial countries has remained at around 2% for nearly two decades. Even after the epidemic, China's growth rate has maintained a trend of above 4%. Moreover, considering China's economic scale of 18 trillion US dollars, such a growth rate is still considerable! Additionally, the media, especially those serving Western regimes, may focus on the current real estate bubble problem in the Chinese economy while neglecting the economic modernization transformation (supply-side reform) that the Chinese government is promoting. The best examples are new energy vehicles, solar energy industry, semiconductor industry, etc. Looking back over the past two decades, these cutting-edge technology industrial chains were almost monopolized by the G7. However, the efforts of the Chinese government have broken this deadlock today! This is today's China. It is abandoning the real estate industry, which once accounted for more than 50% of GDP, and focusing on cutting-edge technology industries that will be indispensable for human society in the future. Such seemingly contradictory economic strategies have given Western media, which controls the international Chinese discourse, the opportunity to promote a new round of "China Collapse Theory"!
Therefore, we should take a long-term view. For example, review today's situation in a 10-year period, and China will surely grasp the future and become a truly powerful country!

Even Stalin was contemplating on a Cultural Revolution in USSR after 1930s but couldn't because of the Great Depression in Capitalist countries and the consequent development of European war (WW2)...So its not merely Socialism with Chinese Characteristics but the real path for achieving Socialism in a backward countries..

Without Xiaoping, of course there would be no Xiaomi or other cheap Android cellphone brands on the market and I still have to save money while lamenting that I want to have a new cellphone from a luxury brand at an expensive price.
In the past, people laughed at the words "Made in China", as if Chinese goods were low quality and cheap, compared to similar products made in Japan, South Korea, America or the European Continent which were considered high quality prestige goods.
But now look, Chinese goods are of high quality and flooding the market.
I own a car wash business, and of course Chinese goods such as water jet pumps, diesel electric, snow-foam washing machines are very helpful, which are of course cheap and durable.
Thank you Deng Xiaoping, who not only lifted hundreds of millions of Chinese people out of poverty, but also helped people outside China like me to get the goods of their dreams at low prices and long-lasting quality.

No, the USSR was hostile to China since 1957, due to De-Stalinization under Krushchev. That created a big rift between the two countries. China was left alone in a world where two superpowers are hostile towards it. So, Mao finally decided to make peace with US. Deng followed that trend to make economic ties with the US, only as a way to advance the productive forces, to secure the revolution from succumbing to western Capitalism. The economy was opened with strategic planning, to make the revolution and Socialist construction stronger. And the era was finally over, with the collapse of Socialist block in Europe. Xi Jinping's arrival and reversal of some policies of Deng only shows the changes needed to be implemented in this era.

@@morningstararun6278I ponder what China would look like today if the Sino-Soviet split never happened. Would China have never pursued economic ties with the US and never become the world’s factory? Would certain foreign policy blunders, like the Sino-Vietnamese War and the Soviet-Afghan war (both of which were exacerbated by Sino-Soviet relations deteriorating) never culminate the way they did? Would the USSR still be around today? So many variables can be changed by one event.

    • @morningstararun6278
      @morningstararun6278 21 день тому +1

@@shockwave2291 There is utterly no doubt that if Sino-Soviet split didn't happen, US would have been history by now. When USSR became hostile to China, it shot itself in the foot, as its only trading partner in the hot water seas was gone. Vietnam was also there, but to get to Vietnam, Soviets needed the Chinese. If Stalin lived a decade longer, he would have continued to support China in every way possible. Remember, that the 156 critical technology industries that Soviet Union transferred to China for free, were all dismantled and taken back to USSR, after the Sino-Soviet split. And the split wasn't just a split between two countries. The split had global reverberations among all the Communist parties and movements. Many strong Communist parties that were on the verge of coming to power in many countries, split into two factions, one supporting the Soviets, and the other Chinese. My country, India has seen a huge split in the Communist Party as well. CPI supported USSR, and CPM and CPI(ML) supported China. That one split became a devastating fatal blow to the world Communist movements. But it wasn't the fault of the Chinese comrades, rather the Soviets, who had adopted the policy of De-Stalinization. And Mao, who knew Stalin very well, was well aware that Krushchev was making a whole lot of lies. As much as a serious Communist Mao was, it became impossible for him to see Krushchev's face after the secret speech of 1956. But yes, if they both were together, US would have lost the first cold war itself, no need for Sino-Vietnamese war, Soviet-Afghan war, and many more countries would have become Socialist as well. My country India would have become completely different by now.

My condolences to *all Chinese🇨🇳* who lost their freedom of speech and independent thinking, now become victims of
    *lies of the century:*
    - It's inevitable that China will "rule the world" and the USA is a "declining power,"
    *- Taiwan🇹🇼 is a "province" of China,*
    - South China Sea belonged to China "since ancient times,"
    - Wuhan virus originated in "Fort Detrick, USA,"
    - Uyghurs are herded in concentration camps "to curb terrorism."
