    Instinctively stopped to help her up, carried her to the finish line, and then let her cross before her. What a show of character.

    funniest thing is, she finished last but she is known by millions around the world,
    who finished first? none of us know! :)
    it goes to show that sportsmanship is more important than whether you win or lose.

    True sportsmanship. I hope it lasts them through college. That you do your best, no cheating. Having money is good, but giving up part of you to obtain it is not. Stay strong.

    Way to Goooo! As a former track runner myself its a underline rule to runners if a runner falls short of the finishline u always help them finish the RACE. Only exception is the short distance sprints cause the race is fast, but the runners come back an get u pick u up and carry u over the line if we got to. Last time I ran was in 1993 so it's great to see runners still doing this now. Its not how u start but how u finish as long as u finish GREAT STORY!!!

    Great sportsmanship - bravo to both girls!
    One question: How could they schedule the start of the 3200 m just 25 minutes after the conclusion of the 1600 m?

    • @BBBYpsi
      @BBBYpsi 8 років тому +2

      it's high school track there are time schedules that have to keep they do event after event after event usually before by 100 or the 4 by 400 is usually the last race

    • @joejoseph3078
      @joejoseph3078 7 років тому

      I do kind of agree. When I ran track in HS there was more time between the 1600 and 3200 because it was pretty much understood that the long distance runners were probably going to attempt both.

    • @ethicalphytophage
      @ethicalphytophage 6 років тому +2

      I think the presenter said just 25 minutes after she collected her medal. I'm assuming that means you can add at least a few more minutes to that. Still, you're right. An athlete who participates in the first isn't going to give her best athletic performance in the second. Except Meghan did give her best performance in the second race. :)

    It was a state championship D3. The race was 3200 meters. Meghan was in last place. Would she have made the same choice if she had been in first place and about to lap the fallen girl? Hmm...

    • @samuricexful
      @samuricexful 7 років тому

      Yeah, I thought the same thing. She basically said she gave up winning right away, kept going back to loser talk. She only helped because she had no chance of winning. I mean, still a good thing she did but this whole situation is so overblown.
