funniest thing is, she finished last but she is known by millions around the world, who finished first? none of us know! :) it goes to show that sportsmanship is more important than whether you win or lose.
Great job Megan, you are a perfect example of what a person with a great heart of compassion and the spirit of patriotism, you don’t leave anyone behind....
True sportsmanship. I hope it lasts them through college. That you do your best, no cheating. Having money is good, but giving up part of you to obtain it is not. Stay strong.
Hahah I guess to win a rice make people tummy so happy.but in the other hand yeah seriously your right it is just a tittle what matters is how you show up your character by helping who is in need
Way to Goooo! As a former track runner myself its a underline rule to runners if a runner falls short of the finishline u always help them finish the RACE. Only exception is the short distance sprints cause the race is fast, but the runners come back an get u pick u up and carry u over the line if we got to. Last time I ran was in 1993 so it's great to see runners still doing this now. Its not how u start but how u finish as long as u finish GREAT STORY!!!
Somebody once said: "If big conflicts were resolved by women, they would be resolved not with warS, but by sitting down and discussing the issues with a cup of tea..."! Bravo, Ms Vogel! You were SPECTACULAR.
All you people knew what .. she is an angel .. i mean she is a human but have an angel heart .. and it's difficult to found out another girl like this .. a real hero girl,,i am shame with myself ..
Great sportsmanship - bravo to both girls! One question: How could they schedule the start of the 3200 m just 25 minutes after the conclusion of the 1600 m?
it's high school track there are time schedules that have to keep they do event after event after event usually before by 100 or the 4 by 400 is usually the last race
I do kind of agree. When I ran track in HS there was more time between the 1600 and 3200 because it was pretty much understood that the long distance runners were probably going to attempt both.
I think the presenter said just 25 minutes after she collected her medal. I'm assuming that means you can add at least a few more minutes to that. Still, you're right. An athlete who participates in the first isn't going to give her best athletic performance in the second. Except Meghan did give her best performance in the second race. :)
yeah, you can call it pollyanna or even dangerous to help out and help a runner to the finish line who could be having a cardiac arrest, seizure, whatever. but lets just say it was a nice story for once, ok fellow cynics?!
It was a state championship D3. The race was 3200 meters. Meghan was in last place. Would she have made the same choice if she had been in first place and about to lap the fallen girl? Hmm...
mothertree Why would I need to ask that question of myself? I already know the answer. I would have leaped over her like a world class hurdler and leaned at the finish line.
Yeah, I thought the same thing. She basically said she gave up winning right away, kept going back to loser talk. She only helped because she had no chance of winning. I mean, still a good thing she did but this whole situation is so overblown.
And what does this contribute to society? its not like she´s taking care of peoples garbage, fixing people as a doctor, repair roads, farm to keep food on ppls tables, you get my point i hope. Sports, whats the bloody point? I mean not sport as a hobby, but sports as big money "jobs"
All you people knew what .. she is an angel .. i mean she is a human but have an angel heart .. and it's difficult to found out another girl like this .. a real hero girl,,i am shame with myself ..
Instinctively stopped to help her up, carried her to the finish line, and then let her cross before her. What a show of character.
funniest thing is, she finished last but she is known by millions around the world,
who finished first? none of us know! :)
it goes to show that sportsmanship is more important than whether you win or lose.
the girl who took first is very easy to find her name is in the record books for the state meet for that year
you kind of missed the point of the comment .. lol
Raptor Jesus Amen...god bless her kindness...
Meghan Vogel, winner on and off the track. A true champion and role model.

Beautiful! Never underestimate the acts of kindness! 💞
That's exactly what it's all about. Sportsmanship is like love; it's when you care more for someone else than you do yourself.
Beautiful moment in sports!!! God bless you both.
I'm touched.
I LOVE this story
True sportsmanship. I hope it lasts them through college. That you do your best, no cheating. Having money is good, but giving up part of you to obtain it is not. Stay strong.

winning a rice is just a small matter when compared ,winning hearts of many people. ...u r the winner.
Hahah I guess to win a rice make people tummy so happy.but in the other hand yeah seriously your right it is just a tittle what matters is how you show up your character by helping who is in need

It's not up to you.
McMath and her family are perfectly okay - and appreciative - with Vogel's actions.
Except Arden's mom wants attention and had to hog the spotlight. She didn't even let Arden's dad talk. Smh

You're forgetting about SUPER running
WOOPS?! Sorry, I meant to say 'goodness'
Doesn't helping disqualify both ??
yeah, you can call it pollyanna or even dangerous to help out and help a runner to the finish line who could be having a cardiac arrest, seizure, whatever. but lets just say it was a nice story for once, ok fellow cynics?!
Things like this give hope to humanity. But let's give "Caitlin" Jenner a bravery award.
Michael Moran caitlyn wins woman of the year and isn't even a woman
Michael Moran, exactamundo.
Why were there so many puns
That girl kinda looks like Kristen Stewart o.o

No
Nice girls finish last.

I was thinking the same exact thing I guarantee she would not have stopped them would have ran around her because she wanted that state championship
perhaps you are asking that about yourself, jesse
mothertree Why would I need to ask that question of myself? I already know the answer. I would have leaped over her like a world class hurdler and leaned at the finish line.
Yeah, I thought the same thing. She basically said she gave up winning right away, kept going back to loser talk. She only helped because she had no chance of winning. I mean, still a good thing she did but this whole situation is so overblown.
meh not really.

***** what i mean is she is a human who has an angel heart in his body unlike people commonly and i really respect and proud with her pal ..
