It’s because he probably doesn’t have strong sustain but stronger sprint. Same as me when I was track and field team. Couldn’t maintain high speed like the first place at start so I usually stay at the middle or the back. But usually I can have extremely fast sprint at the end which can always earn me high placement.
@ Caleb Mariotti, this reminds me of the famous horse Secretariat with the same running style. If you don’t know him, check the movie by the same name. 😉👍🏽
That form isn’t weird it preserves energy. But keeping your shoulders relaxed and not swinging em too much. U can see that he had a more traditional form near the end when he started pumping his arms. I do the same thing, but that’s just my take on it. Now the guy who was leading the race....
Had to watch this twice! First time fascinated with the lead runner's odd running style, like running through water. Then had to watch again to see Rayjay's race. He was so so relaxed - just cruising for most of the race. He had so much in the tank even his finishing kick looked easy but he was moving. He's thinking "No problem fellas, I got this" as he ran just fast enough to win and move on. He had it all the way!
it's not a sprint I did long-distance running for a long time and trust me you will see a lot of runners running like that it doesn't look great but they are working aerobically so they probably have a lot of slow-twitch muscle fibers hence why their form doesn't look that solid but it will help them run for longer periods of time. long distance isn't as technical as sprinting and the strides are completely but most of the time runners are just really tired so breathing and relaxing is their main focus not form coaches won't nag you about form mostly unless you're a sprinter.
@@Adzdaathlete has nothing to do with muscle fibers. It's their training. Someone allowed them to run like that for long enough to become a habit for them. It can be fixed
@@greggarey4068 while the person you’re replying to is wrong, you are also wrong. Running form for distance running is not something to be practiced and improved. I used to be a runner. #99 has a very unusual running posture, almost like he's leaning backwards. I mean, it obviously works for him, but it is unusual.
1535 - who has taught this guy how to run seriously? His coaches really have some questions to answer. he shouldnt be at that level running like that. Its so inefficient.
I used to use the same tactic but not as a strategy but a way to flex my speed on my friends! I'd just chill in the beginning and give them a false sense of victory until the very end when I'll zip past them with an all out sprint.
I love watching track because seeing people run, especially if they have good form, is really attractive. But I have to say everyone's here was kinda terrible
Long distance races are generally that way. Everybody jogs at the start, they speed up a little to shake some people, and at the last couple laps they start running.
This guys chilling in the back for literally 95 percent of race, and for the last 5 percent just sprints to the top! I don't mind that style!😂😁
mo farah😎😎

that must be hurt you are leading all the time and you get beat up , close to the finish line hahahahaaa

Buddy just out here jogging in last like 🥱
Truth
😂🤣
Unbelievable. The leader till the end reminded me of watching Forrest Gump though.
💀
😂😂😂
I was thinking run Forest run too, lmmfao!
😂🤣
"61seconds...a pedestrian pace!" MAN , I would LOVE to be able to run at that pace!😃❤🏃🏽♂️⚡⏱🚀
Isn't that slow though,
@@CADigitalCity no
buddy has an interesting running style to say the least
Whole bunch of weird running forms in that race
What's your form like John? 👍
I got a sky add before this haha
He runs like an ostrich

He was never last. He was just being patient.
We should put your comment on a Tshirt! ☺️
@@debt.2210 Now that's an idea 💡

Exactly.🗝️
He was preserving his
energy for the end, where it really counted.

Yeah I had to do a double take too.
Me three! Love a surprise "kick"
I'd love to hear an elite level form coach break down the strides of each of these guys.
All the strides are fast.
The End

@Glenn Beck what?
Saving all of his energy for a final boost..👏
“This is pedestrian pace right here” 😂
He's not wrong
Dude!! I COULD WATCH THIS OVER AND OVER AGAIN! Look at his strides compared to everyone else!

Facts 😂😂
Haha ong
That first guy that was leading has the weirdest arms string 🔨🤣
Glad that I watched this at least my day has ended with laughter n thank you all for the comments.
The second guy looks like a drunk man whose trying to walk properly
😚😚🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Excellent race bro. Just unbelievable the way that you won it. The last came first. Keep it up and keep going. 🙏👍✋. Love and hugs from me in Sri Lanka
Never really watched this kind of stuff. But it's interesting and it's in my recommendation
He looked like he was about to skip around a couple of those turns, he seemed so laid back!! Brilliant strategy!
The guy who led most of the way and got passed at the end looked like his legs were trying to run away from him. Very odd style.
Leaning back the whole way sticking his throat out
😂😂😂😂
It doesn't matter how one runs, but the position you are at in the end, brilliant run, timed to perfection!
Nice!!!! Great timing
The old story of the tortoise and the hare, lots of folk wisdom there.
The first runner looks like the wind is blowing him ...my back hurts the way he runs.
Great style...warming up at the back letting everyone in the front enjoying the lead until...👌💖💕🙏🥰
When you start so slow you’re inviting a crazy finish.
He runs like Captain Jack Sparrow but he still came in second because of an amazing kick
😂😂😂
I picture Sheldon running how Justin Thorstad does.
When was this race? Flotrack, you’ve got to be better about posting something that looks brand new but it’s actually footage of an old race.
It was great to see anyway.
No need for that - make a suggestion if you wish or do it better
Giraffe boy set such a slow pace, nobody hit the 'bubble' time. The only one to advance was the winner.
I feel like running too while watching 😁😂
Man who led most the time looks like hes just hurting his back. Still fast ah tho
Runs like Michael Johnson
Forest Gump
Hold on to the lead till i come and win the race, said the guy that won it.
I used to be a runner. #99 has a very unusual running posture, almost like he's leaning backwards. I mean, it obviously works for him, but it is unusual.
I thought Sheldon from Big Bang Theory was gonna pull it off with his ostrich-like running style but he got nipped at the wire.
😂😂😂😂😂
That was amazing you go 💥
He was at the back at 400, but he was just jogging along with a really easy, fluid action.
1535 - who has taught this guy how to run seriously? His coaches really have some questions to answer. he shouldnt be at that level running like that. Its so inefficient.
That better form for him i thought....inefficient but time clock better than most of us...and he got 2nd spot...
@@dryodi6879
Not even second spot, his time didn’t make it to the finals. He got second in his HEAT, which doesn’t do much.
Awesome! Fantastic pacing!!!
Superb one should have that stamina to pull in the end very good congrats
OUTSTANDING!!😄
his running form just doesnt look efficient at all lol
only 1 man beat him
@Sean Giffin Right?
He number is also 9. So his time trial is pretty low.
Natural form is the best.
2:33 look at guys face when he realizes that he’s being caught up to 😂😂😂
Finally a video that doesn’t look like it was shot on a bong mid hit
He was just being patient
ReJay 🏆 FloTrack Great Stuff!
Wow!! Just wow...
Patience
Amazing
Rayjay you slickster!
Is there a replay of the final available somewhere?
There’s something unique and special about Africans that Africans needs to identify for themselves. I am a proud African who believes in a human race.
Most of Africa is kinda flat and several predators can climb trees. Figure it out. :D
I can’t imagine how anybody could watch this as a hobby. Holy cow. I fell asleep twice
great call on that race.
That's the SPIRIT.....brohh...👍👊

The turtle versus the hare........and the turtle smiles in the end.
Congratulations on the Jayhawk Conference represented!
Holly crap that was a race he came from the back of the pack to take the lead at the last minute.
I had to watch this race 3 times, just to watch Justin's style. 🏃♂️😂
I love watching track because seeing people run, especially if they have good form, is really attractive. But I have to say everyone's here was kinda terrible
Did 2nd place get disqualified for cutting in lane before he was aloud ?
you are right, I saw it too.
The leader till the last lap was so confident lol
Good kick
that guy that was wearing bid #9 wanted me to put bleach in my eyes because of him form
Rajay was like "Ya'll go ahead... I'll catch up"
anyone else noticed that they missed the qualifying time by 0.2 seconds?
So impressive👌👌
How many times did 9 (Thorstad) step over the line before the break?? (Spoiler: too many, DQ)
correct observation.
2:33 for 1000 meters would be around 2:01 for 800 meters, correct??
Wow great finish by Hamilton.
It ain’t over til it’s over.😳😬😮
I had a dude that ran like second place here almost beat me in a 5k once. I could not let that shit happen😂 Actually, my profile pic is from that race
Justin Thorstad, the runner who finished 2nd, looked a lot like Lasse Viren.
That was epic
They got us in the first have not gonna lie.
Never seen a running style like thorstat's
Awesome ✔
1:46 lol thought he was speed walking
Lmao
Why the second guy looks like he competing in paralimpic games?
Rude
Whats up with the camera position?
He turned on the turbo mode?
What division is this?? Those times were so slow lol
His last name already gave away he would be the best.
1st lap. "They're moving at a pedestrian pace" bahaha
Ostrich style running takes second!
He waited until it was time !!
It was soooo sloooow until the end. Why did he wait for so long to kick?
Long distance races are generally that way. Everybody jogs at the start, they speed up a little to shake some people, and at the last couple laps they start running.
"Ridiculous?" Poor choice of words. More in the area of tremendous, inspirational, courageous but NOT ridiculous.
First time I've heard a kick being described as "nasty" :)
then you weren't there when my girlfriend caught me cheating
I feel like Capt.AmericaWhen the commentator said .Nasty!…Me: “I do,I understood that reference”
"Pedestrian speed" that was an insult to every Pedestrians top speed that's slower than that.
I've seen little old ladies cross the street faster than the pace of this race 😆
Hey Thorstad has gotta remove that stick!! Hahahahaha
he has titanium rods in his back give him a break 😤
wait so who won?
Nice
Thorstad has the most awkward running stance I've ever seen
Having the last laugh at the last lap
