    In my opinion, this was Eva Green's greatest moment on film. It made her career. It certainly made Casino Royale.

    Such a simple scene. This is what makes a Bond film, in my opinion. Not gadgets or grand set pieces, but two humans at the peak of their abilities fighting for dominance, with their minds or with their fists. I still stand by the claim that Casino Royale is the greatest Bond film ever made, and is also a phenomenal film in its own right.

      New Bond movies are a total crap, I don't know on what drugs are you people. There is no Boris the invincible or satellites of mass destruction or cars full of rockets and machine guns. Damn gadgets are what these movies were about. And Pierce Brosnan was the best Bond.
      New movies are, As Immortan Joe would say: Mediocre!

      Maybe you didn't understand what I mean when I said "simple". It's simple in that it's two people meeting for the first time on a train. We know Vespa is James' contact, but that's it. The scene's grandiosity and depth comes from what I hinted at: their chemistry and dialogue. The scene itself could have been left out in a film of lower calibre as it adds very little to the main plotline. In this case, however, leaving it in was invaluable.

    Probably the single best scene ever written and acted in a James Bond movie, including some of the best by Sean Connery. I still chuckle out loud every time I see this, almost 12 years after I saw Casino Royale for the first time. Kudos to the director, scriptwriters, Daniel Craig and Eva Green. Well shot, well written and well played ---- and there's not a gun, explosion or villain anywhere in sight.

      Mark Stewart Yeah i remember the 00- status he gets in the start of the movie but didn't know it was the first novel of Ian Fleming :) Watched spectre last night, loved it. Perfect ending for the 4 Daniel Craig movies, opening a whole new era for the new Bond actor after Bond 25, that is the last on Daniel Craig's contract, we'll see if he will finish it.
      He is bored to death he said, "I will rather cut my hands and bleed to death then play one more bond movie" he said while doing Spectre, kinda weird when he is one of the producers lol. I surely hope there will never be a "dark" James Bond, i can accept another agent with another name because James Bond is a white person in the books right?
      Idris Elba was going to be the new Bond, but then they need to change the characters name too.

Though I have to say Eva's French is not as polished as her English, despite it probably being her native tongue. And this is a beautiful woman who looks better without makeup than with.

    Great scene in Casino Royale. Bond meets Vesper. Eva Green is a very attractive woman but as she chats to Bond these 2 both realise that on first impressions neither is stupid. Its a cunning chat to find out a little about the other. Vesper gets a bit of joy out of Bond, then vice versa. The first meeting was great fun to watch. Just saw the film again today after years of not watching it. It was more interesting now than it was when I first watched it. Vesper Lynd (Eva Green) plays the role of a bond girl very well. She is a great actress and I love her in this film. At first I thought Daniel Crsig was going to be an aweful actor for Bond, but when I watched Casino Royale again O relized he fit in perfectly for the role and how his character evolves from Casino to Skyfall it's amazing. Casino Royale has made me want to read the Bond books and watch all the bond movies starting with the very first one. 15/10 for this film it's that good.

      Matt Confidence and quick wit. You can tell by the frequency of eye contact that he gives her. It's all about seamlessness and getting the other person to do what you want by stating what you want implicitly. Bond appears unfazed by her beauty and intelligence. She herself knows that she's beautiful, which is why she doesn't break eye contact with him either. She wants to see if he'll crack under pressure. Most women would think that gives them the advantage, but men must remain level headed like Bond does in this scene.

      +josevonbuergenwader2 I agree. As much as I love Lea Seydoux and Craig's Bond, I don't really understand how their relationship works? To me it felt rushed and forced, especially when they don't really have much of interactions. It's just some dialogues (nothing special imo), and then her character suddenly went from 'fuck you' to 'fuck me', but I guess that's just attraction (I mean it's a Bond movie, what do you expect). But didn't they fall in love with each other at the end? I can't understand that part. The whole dynamics between their characters was just not enough.

    I've seen every Connery and Moore Bond film, and I can't think of a single one that beats Casino Royale. They got so much right, but the relationship between these two is perfection, and it elevates the whole experience in a way none of the others ever accomplished.

      Connery, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan, have the character of Bond that we see in the final scene of ''Casino Royale''.

    I detect that Vespa got to Bond slightly just from the subtle nuance of his reaction after she leaves, and then casually brushes it off, although acknowledging she is a force to be reckoned with and on a par with his intellectual level, if not more so. She has smarts as well as class and beauty which make for a formidable combination.

    So this scene alone is 10x better than Spectre. Who could've guessed Craig's first shot at Bond would be his best.

    • @jazzx251
      @jazzx251 6 років тому +4

      The director, Martin Campbell, is 2 for 2 in rebooting the series successfully!
      First, with Golden Eye. Brosnan's first go at Bond.
      Then 10 years later with Casino Royale. Craig's first attempt.
      I think Campbell's action scenes are the best in the whole series - old-fashioned perhaps, but you can see awesomely everything that is happening.
      Whether that's the truly amazing parkour chase - or a brilliant wide shot of Bond bungee jumping down the wall of a Russian dam (real locations, real stuntmen - no CGI).

    Daniel Craig's portrayal is the closest to how Bond was in the Ian Fleming novels.

    • @TheGore1021
      @TheGore1021 10 років тому +38

      I agree. Because I believe that Daniel Craig's Bond is getting close to the character just like how Bond was in some of the Bond stories that were written by Ian Fleming, because of his behaviour.

      That is a fact. He almost has the grey/blue eyes that Ian Fleming describes Bond to have, among other traits Daniel Craig portrays. Since reading the Ian Fleming books, I always picture Daniel Craig, even when I try so hard to picture Connery, Moore or Brosnan, my imagination always goes back to Craig.
