Stunning rendition. I walked down the aisle to this. Never gets boring or less emotional.
Mike Scott is the original singer of this song. Ellie Goulding did the rendition.
One of the most beautiful love songs ever written
I keep on coming back to this… so beautiful 💜

Me too! Just watched it tonight and absolutely love this song. So touching.
me too! that movie was brilliant and then ended with this song. A new favorite
Beautiful movie. Bitter Sweet love Bill Nighy.
I feel.blessed at 63 as a single father of a beautiful teenage daughter....we watched it together and both cried ❤😢
Thank you for posting, since I first heard "The Whole of The Moon" in the eighties, The Waterboys have always been on my top playlist.
Mine too!
Thanks for posting this is fabulous thanks Mike Scott!......👍❤️☮️😻🤟
Just absolutely beautiful!🙌🏻☺️🥹
Only been listening to the water boys since I picked someone called Richard naiff up in my cab and he was telling me what bands he was in, he never mentioned the water boys, I was put off the water boys because of the song the whole of the moon, because everyone liked it and every club I went to everyone one was dancing to it, I don't follow the norm in music, but now, I can't get enough of them, Scott's words bring tears to my eyes, would love to see them live as I've missed out on a lot of good music
Look at their great gig at Rockpalast..you'll see Richard in action..The Pan Within especially!
I was there with my then wife. Split up now but happy memories
Fabulous playing ❤🎸
This is the most soulful rendering of the song. It is quite a bit different from the original Waterboys recording, but Mike Scott has perfected it through the years...
He sure has, what a songwriter and a great performer :)
Superb
What a GREAT LOVE song .... great job Mike Scott ......... RC
Saw them in Drogheda on this tour. Wonderful.
This is simply beautiful.
My 3rd & final clip from the superb Waterboys show at Dublin's Convention Centre last night - "How Long Will I Love You"; this one features Mike Scott and Anto Thistlethwaite (CCD's not a very rock n roll venue but the acoustics are good); a lovely way to (almost) end my 2013 gig going, and definitely a contender for top 10 #GigOfTheYear; Happy Christmas to all,,,,,,:)

About Time
this is why the Scots and Irish so close....
Lovely. Thanks Boss. The young man who plays the lead role is the son of one of Ireland's most famous actors who began acting at 32 with his family in tow after teaching 10 years. People have nothing but good to say of him. But he wanted to be an actor and his wife backed him. Like to meet her. Backing your husband, probably working and raising four boys. Only a mother can appreciate that! She helped him follow his dream. That's one strong woman. Four boys, all who are actors and seem to be sweetie pies as well as great actors. This boy O's brother played Ron Weezley. All red heads I'm thinking. Da is. Interesting family.
Hey tnx, the lead role in what?
The beautiful film ABOUT TIME
I am fond of the movie but LOVED the song long before... Long story but back in the day (1991ish) djs on radio didn't always say who the artist was... ended up with everything George Harrison I didn't own already! (a good thing) I found out years later who it was - thanks to my brother who was a big Waterboys fan. (George was the only one who i ever heard warble his high pitched voice like Mike Scott does on the orig.)
Much nicer version than the original album version with the thumping percussion.
I thought I'd search this original after watching Ellie's version and I must say, this version is slightly better although I do find Ellie's version very nice.
Hard to beat the original,,,,I saw Ellie play live once about 3 years ago, and while she's not bad, I wouldn't put her in the same league as Mike Scott (completely different artists, backgrounds, age of course)....:)
bossaddict Experience must be taken into account. My dad and Mike have both been through different bands etc.. Saw Doctors for example. I've never listened to Ellie Goulding's cover, but I'm sure it's good.
Thepeacemaker6342 So your Dad is Anto? Great musician! :)
bossaddict Yes, he is. :)
Thepeacemaker6342 Well he's one hell of a musician!!
How long will I love you?
As long as there are stars above you
And longer if I can
How long will I need you?
As long as the seasons need to
Follow their plan
How long will I be with you?
As long as the sea is bound to
Wash upon the sand
How long will I want you?
As long as you want me to
And longer by far
How long will I hold you?
As long as your father told you
As long as you are
How long will I give to you?
As long as I live through you
However long you say
How long will I love you?
As long as stars are above you
And longer if I may
Came here after Listening to Elle version smone commented saying Mike Scot sang it
