The number of times BMW has snatched defeat from the jaws of victory (within their control or otherwise) this season has been staggering. Running 1-2 with 10 minutes to go and they both get binned within seconds of each other.

A huge difference between competitions... Nascar would take, at max, 10min to take the two cars and clean debries out of the track. I think is a shame a competition like gt world challenge take almost twenty min to do the same thing.
Anyone know what happened to the BMWs on restart? My guess is transmission overheated.
I was at the race this last weekend, paddock announcers were saying Sam Tan got a ton of dirt up in the grill and intake while trying to dodge the Kurtz / Kiebler accident. So most likely overheating from lack of airflow.

Edited as I thought the incident was at turn 7, not coming out of the carousel.
Still of the opinion Kurtz stays on-line this isn’t an incident. Kiebler was in a bad spot.
I am not sure what series you race in, but please stay there if you think this was a safe re-entry. Nobody with a clue enters and crosses the track (esp at the carousel) vs entering parallel to the race track and slowly pulling on the track on the left - hence I was pulling to the right. I think the stewards see it the same way given the penalty “Car 77 was wholly and. predominately responsible,” plus they gave 77 a 2-race suspension. The good news is the Merc is a tank, and everyone is ok. And thanks to everyone for their well wishes and for reaching out. Much appreciated.

@@bwest6275 I'm in class A and pretty much always place top 5 unless someone hits me so probably not. The BMW is just way slower than the mclaren, amg, and porsche. BMW GT4 has great handling/trail braking but feels like it has no power in straights.
terrible data management on the position board...you guys are on sotne age on data management and display for the fans....
Is it me or when the ladies get in the cars they are faster than with the other driver, regardless of rank. Been noticing it for a few races since last year. I wonder if it’s the weight advantage they have over the heavier men so the car is effectively lighter when they drive. Verhagen did not seem to have that kind of acceleration/top end as she had in her stint. Nice win Sam.
Saw this for years in pro bike drag racing when Angele Seeling was money at the tree. Interesting thought if that’s also the case in car racing.
The BMW’s need to be BOPPED or they need to give the Porsches and Mercs more power. BMW has a clear BOP advantage.
Kiebler should be banned from racing for that move. Could have gotten them both killed.
I think it comes down to weight advantage - Sam Tan always drives a shorter stint than her teammate, as you want to have the pro driver in the car as long as possible. So she can use fresh tires much better for pushing. Nevertheless, I am very impressed by her - already very fast, seems to get better and more controlled with every race she drives, straight out of the pit faster than everybody else (not the first time), takes risks in a controlled way (there is a way out most of the time when an attack does not work), seems to know her strengths and weaknesses.
