This reminds me of the 76 British GP when there was a biblical cloudburst that came from the direction of what is now Vale. Half the circuit was dry and everyone was on slicks. The rain came as James Hunt was challenging Emerson Fittipaldi for the lead going into Stowe. Fittipaldi obviously saw the rain first and Hunt slithered through somehow and headed towards Club corner in the lead only to lose it under braking along with half a dozen back markers who had already gone off. These were the days when 'catch fencing' was being tried as a 'safety feature' and, although some of the cars weren't damaged, because of the chicken wire catch fencing prevented them from rejoining. Luckily no fuel was spilt and there was no fire which would probably engulfed the lot of them. The race was red flagged and taken back one lap which gave the win to Fittipaldi.
In South Africa we had a Sierra XR8 which was the only production V8 Sierra ever and prior to that we had the 1970 Ford Capri V8 Perana, the only production V8 Capri to exist. Both powered by Windsor 5.0 L V8's
For the 1999 BTCC season, Matt raced for Team Dynamics, the team his dad co-founded in a 1998 Nissan Primera. In the second race meeting at Donington Park in Leicestershire, he went on to claim his first BTCC win and claim £250,000 for being the first independent team to win a race in the championship.
No he had 8 years experience, racing BMW M3s from 1991 in BTCC. Team Dynamics was started in 1992 using the championship winning car of Will Hoy which Neal wrote off. He currently has a 7.8% win rate.
@@chadakoin1They used that engine, because they already had it in the Mustang SVO, and the Thunderbird Turbo Coupe, so it didn't need to be certified for emissions, and was more power than the 2.8 or 3.0 V6. My guess, anyway.
Thanks for the reply! I remember that was the story at the time, but that engine was peaky and unreliable. The Yamaha 3 L V6 they used in the SVO Taurus would have transformed this car.@@ramblerdave1339
Car 22 is an Australian car. It was raced by Murray Carter back in the era. The livery is as was raced by Murray, so not sure how it was called a recreation.
yes but.. they seem to stop. break.. this is mainly historic.. not 2024 tech.. plus, bathurst is am bs race.. last decent race was 88.. all garb after.. holdens with ford parts, rules to suit holdens.. bs race brocky drove a sierra, without ford badges.. fkn hypocryt..ass hole..
I’ve just found your channel and this is the first of your videos I’ve watched. I wish you all the best for future videos. Just a couple of suggestions to improve your viewer’s experience: A. Adjusting the volume of the music down when you have your voiceover. Keep it up when you are not talking though. But make sure it doesn’t go up and down all the time…as that could be another issue. So music - voiceover (for the entire section) very soft music - music (end of section). B. Reduce the ‘black screen’ time. I personally thought the video stopped. (It’s like radio, as they are not allowed to have a long silence). I’m sure you will learn a lot and greatly improve your videos over time, and covering this subject is long overdue…great stuff!
That safety car needed to pick up the leader, completely messed it up for the drivers. Im not sure the GTR's are running 4WD they'd be smashing it in the wet which they weren't , I'll ask as Im there later this month.
The Goff Sierra was ripped off. Pits with a 13 sec lead comes out behind the skylines then the safety picks him up as the race leader.. seriously... Piss poor management of the race with the safety car.
Dramatic scenes as Capris take on flame-spitting Cosworths, Skylines, Cortinas and so many more of your favourite touring cars from the late 60s, 70s, 80s and even early 90s! Didn't Matt Neal first win in a red Nissan Primera and not a BMW M3..........? Nissan then took the engine back and detuned it, so he didn't win again in that car. Late Brake Show has an interview with him on youtube.
What a mess. They really need to look to nascar for their rules As the commentator said it was confusing for the fans and for the commentators. I wish that the coverage was better and the rule package was a little bit more balanced and understandable.
No, not history's race, You will be bored without zaz Forza, Ukraine participating in the World Championship of Touring Cars wtcc and domestic btcc championship.
touring car racing is by far the most entertaining wheel to wheel racing. love seeing these old cars ripping it up
love these old school cars

Man, these old cars sound so much better than the new ones, like they've actually got engines in there.
Those 4WD Skyline’s are having a blast in the rain😂
So much want for most of these. Proper cars. Lovely jubbly Rodney.
Can’t wait for the other touring car race with the minis. I was down at copse for it and watching them go through there was incredible
Coming soon!

Very nice!

I was on the wing watching this live.... sound was fantastic. Just wish there were more grandstands open and more screens around the track.
All down to costs unfortunately.

Great stuff. 👍
Mercur XR4-Ti was available in the US with a 2.3 turbo 4 cylinder, but dont know if any raced here.
Was thinking about that. Always thought the car would have done better in the US if they had stuck with a V6 of some sort.

why 90’s Japanese group A race touring cars are running in England ? At that time, they mustn’t have run there, I heard.
