I love that you've shown different genres and techniques in this series. It came just in time, super motivating! When I saw you step recorded in Cubase, it inspired me to explore if Studio One has something similar, and yes, it is named "Patterns", so now I can step record those fast arpeggios for action cues. Now I hope I win, I only miss the Video Game course of the new ones, they are all great!! Thanks
@@ThinkSpaceEducationHello, Guy! Really love your channel for the last 3-4 years (or maybe more)! I hope you don't might me asking, but I have one idea for future videos... What do you think about getting a deep dive in some of your cues from your movies?) For instance, some action cues from Marvel's animation, or themes for Iron Man or Planet Hulk, or some action cues from Jackboots on Whitehall? I'm talking especially about action cues, since I find your orchestral action writing really strong, especially in Jackboots on Whitehall. I think it would be a really great thing for the new year to find out details about real-life examples of advanced action orchestration. Anyway, that's up to you! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! :)
I have thoroughly enjoyed your Christmas series. What fun! I have learned so much from watching you compose using different techniques. Now I am back to finishing your "How to write music" course which I paused to get out our annual Christmas "audio" card, produced using Logic. Then, on to your new course I recently purchased during your sale, Sampled Orchestration. Can't wait. Fingers crossed to win a course! All the best for you in 2024.
Thanks Guy, so pleased you do most of these in Cubase so I can pick up tricks. This would work really well for kick ass Violent Night (my fav Christmas movie now).
Thanks Guy, always a pleasure watching how you work and get you music sounding so awesome and I always have a laugh when watching you, you are a musical and whimsical genius. Thanks for a great series.
Really enjoyed this series, so many cool things to explore for christmas, like bells, and then more bells, and then there is always bells, and never forget the bells. Yea if you don;t like the sound of bells do not even try and write a christmas song❤💙💚🤍🎄🔔. I also had a problem with getting sleigh bells, ended up finding a single shake sound and just lowered the velocity on each downbeat, sort of worked, buit a bit mechanical, trying to get the feeling of the horse trotting. So much fun exploreing music, thanks for all the wonderful christmas vids and ideas, enjoyed them all, I hope everyone has Merry Christmas and a great New Year🎉
Thanks Guy for these videos you are fantastic I love the way you teach and explain all the different techniques for making music. I wish you and your family a very Happy New Year.
Thanks for dressing up silly to cheer me up since I had such a terrible Christmas. :') even though this was probably my least happy Christmas yet, at least I've got you there to cheer me up.. although Arnold has a lot of charisma, I wouldn't be surprised if he talked the producer into letting him be the host of all future Think Space broadcasts..
@@ThinkSpaceEducation that's right, Im pretty sure I heard about that! And if so, I also heard the producers of the show asked Arnold if he knew anyone personally that had a talent for writing music to go along with shows and movies and such, and I guess Arnold just couldn't stop going on about this Howard Shore.. whoever that is... some gratitude there, eh!?
Thanks very much Guy, all of these videos are really inspiring. Do you have any tutorial on how to extend a composition, how to develop to have a full music ? I'm interested in that, sometimes I struggle to develop my ideas.
I love how you in 30 minutes or less you made the main idea and it sounds like an Harry Potter scene , the action scene reminds me of the Quiddich action scene and I mean it sounds really good! happy holidays and happy new year ♥
Happy new year, Guy! Thank you for always posting such fantastic content. As for the sleigh bells: In BBC, they are under 'Toys'. Also, there are some nice (free) ones in LABS 'Christmas'. (These are better than BBC, I think.) Greetings from Denmark!
Thanks Guy! This is one of the best tunes you’ve done. Really liked the track. Btw, how do you survive with that one damn big template? Lol! Seriously a lot of libraries but really worked. Vivasswan SriHarsha
So ... if it has sleigh bells on it, it is a Christmas tune? And if you mute the sleigh bells it is just an ordinary action track? Wouldn't that be something to integrate into Cubases' GUI? A checkbox labeld "Christmas"? :D
We give students a track which is missing one crucial element which they add. So for Sampled Orchestration for example there's a a full orchestral track which is missing the brass. So students can focus on one thing at a time and get a result quickly without having to start from scratch. They then share their work in the discord channels
Great stuff, as always. Poor Arnold, cast out yet haunting nonetheless, like an unwanted house guest. John Williams is a great composer to emulate, but I've always felt James Horner and Alan Silvestri were better at writing action cues. It would have been interesting if you had channeled one of those two.

Ah Video Games is really good - Good Luck!

Thanks for the series Guy and Arnold. Always very inspiring and entertaining to follow along! Happy New Year :)

I can picture John Wick driving in to an old warehouse in his muscle car to save Santa and Christmas altogether.
John Wick 5: Naughty and Nice

Thank you for taking the time to make these informative videos. Always learn something x
13:00. Yep. Good tip, Guy. Quantizing quantized notes can get a bit boring :( PS - 40:56 :). Thanks and Happy New Year.
Happy new year!
Love it! Thanks Guy, really enjoyable series of tutorials - Arnold is an inspiration, ordered my own to help me :)
@rhymevara
Great video series of Christmas, i really enjoy this kind of videos. Thanks Guy.
:)
I was thinking more Die Hard than this sneaky piece. But as always. I enjoy your vid's Guy. Thank you for your talents and skills. :)
Or maybe an overture to the tempestuous British Christmas of 23🌪. Guy 🎅 and Arnie 🦖 thank you for this series 👍 Happy new year 🍾
HNY!
Thank you so much for this.
Any time!

Arnold now has an agent and is auditioning for SNL - sickening - I give him his big break and this is how he thanks me

I think the Christmas lab has Sleigh Bells
Yes it does. I always use those for my Xmas vibes. 😂
Speaking of sleigh bells in action films, listen to the soundtrack of 007: Goldeneye... Perfect for infiltrating the Verzasca Dam OR Santa’s workshop.

Glather Yule... or something like that
You need to make a large bombastic ceremonious celebration track for Arnold for his participation in all this! 😄
Yes he keeps on asking about that
Thanks Guy! This is one of the best tunes you’ve done. Really liked the track. Btw, how do you survive with that one damn big template? Lol! Seriously a lot of libraries but really worked.

The tune is "God Rest Yea Merry Gentlemen"
Wondering: what is meant by a "minus one" project? 😊

Revenge of Arnold.... coming to cinemas
@@ThinkSpaceEducation Scored by some Michelmore chap, I supposed. 😁
Harry Potter helps santa delivering present to all the worlds children, its what the melody sounds like to me 😊🎅
Perfect my work is done
I love you Guy...but seriously that's the most PAINFUL Clipping metronome I have ever heard.
It is a bit isnt it - sorry
lol :) @@ThinkSpaceEducation
