I must agree with Mr. Smith, my old hands don’t work as well as they once did, so I find hand tools of any kind are a blessing. I had to watch the clinch knot method about three times to make sure I was doing it right, but now that ive mastered it, it’s a fantastic knot. I like it much better than the hand tied improved clinch. Thanks for the great info.
I believe you are tying a 16-20 Knot and not a clinch. The clinch knot passes the tag end back through the loop formed at the eye of the hook. The 16-20 goes passes the tag through the loop formed at the end of the standing line away from the eye of the hook, which is what your video shows. 16-20 with forceps is a great knot.
With the surgeons knot I would be concerned that I would either serrate or flatten the line with my hemostats? The clinch knot would be fine since I am only pinching the tag end which will be cut off anyway.
Dennis Boyd it will pinch the line but if you leave the hemostat just a little open you can sort of hook the line and pull it through, at least enough you can pull it the rest of the way through with your fingers. It’s kind of hard to explain, but if you try it and leave your hemostat a little open at that part I think you will see what I mean.

ahh! now i see! You open the hemos after the tag end is through which releases the tag and keeps the knot from tightening early, but you’ve still got the long end hooked.

As my eyes and fingers get older and less nimble, I am becoming a huge fan of hemostat knot tricks. Thank you.

Yup-you’re right. He accidentally tied a much better knot.
Am I supposed to only be grabbing one single tag?
