I’m 14th in line for a hold on When The World Tips Over audiobook. So it will be kind of long until I read the book. Hearing Christine talk about makes me more interested. I do not read a ton of fantasy that centers around a romance.

It's so funny how every type of media has this effect. There will be one book or movie or anime that sparks a massive market oversaturation! Dystopians, romantasy, superhero stories, westerns, etc. Everything comes and goes in waves.

hi Christine and Natasha, I’ve been a fan of you guys for years. so I’m sorry if this comment diverges from the main topic of discussion here (as I’m not sure if I occupy different spaces of social media than ya’ll), but I’ve seen nothing but praise for Charli getting nominated for aoty in the Grammys?
to say that it’s “low brow” diminishes the impact this album had on not just the girlies, but also the gay community!!! just because this album is super dance/edm pop (or “beep boop” as you guys say) doesn’t take away from the fact that this album had very vulnerable lyrics.
for example, “sympathy is a knife” is very metaphorical in which Charli wants to support fellow women in the industry, but she sometimes notices that she gets upset when she cannot compare to them because of her own insecurities. then in “rewind”, she talks about how she wants to return back to her younger self when she wasn’t so insecure about her body and her want for fame. then in “so, I”, she talks about the loss of her friend SOPHIE who tragically passed away and Charli regrets not keeping their relationship stronger, especially now she’s lost her. then in “girl, so confusing”, Charli discusses how complicated female friendships can be and the backstory is for this song is that she never knew if Lorde liked her, so she sent her this song and they have made amends since in their remix track. then in “Apple” (as Christine briefly mentions here), Charli’s lyrics for this song are genius! It discusses the impact that generational trauma has on kids from their parents and it’s so embedded into parents (e.g. the apple is rotten right to the core) that the kids just need to liberate themselves from it (e.g. wanting to drive to the airport, many from the gay community really resonate with this song) and also not wanting to perpetuate that onto their future children. then in “I think about it all the time” is about Charli feeling like while her career is doing really well right now, she feels like she might be missing out on a crucial life experience by not becoming a mother at this very moment.
sorry for this long rant, this is not a hate comment (as I love you guys and am a huge fan), but Brat absolutely deserves to be aoty and all the other nominations it’s accumulated.

I agree with Natasha. Sabrina completely rebranded herself and it's the reason why her music popped this year. Definitely see a romantasy burnout coming soon with the public. I'm already sick of reading so many ACOTAR/Fourth Wing copycats.
