the Dedeaux is a winner. I put my own spin on it to make it simpler to tie, I made a punch out of copper pipe, 1/2-in diameter and 3/4-in. Sharpen the end and push or hammer it through the flip flop. Use a nail to make a path for the hook and start tying.
Love this series of videos you are doing. Wish it was around about six years ago when I made the leap and figured out you could fly fish for more than just trout.
Alvin I came here to heal from combat.. im in South Texas and have fly fished some with PHWFF.. I would love to fish some other waters and learn more about the fishing here.
Hi Alvin, Thanks for a great video. In regards to the snake fly, when you mentioned that it pushes water a thought that crossed my mind. We as fly tyers and fly fisherman need to go beyond the visual aspect of our fly and think about creating vibration or sounds that stimulate the fish's lateral line. I believe this snake fly as you described is one of those flies that check the sound box. Thanks again for you informative videos.
Is there a story about that 8.5lb bass? Last year, a guide on the Guad told me that her client caught a 6lb hold-over trout, which also happened to be the first fish that client had ever caught! Of course, that could just be that, a story. 😎
Ever used Arctic Fox in any of your bait fish patterns? It acts a lot different than rabbit fur... add a bit of flash and you'll nail them. Top water I always use the traditional deer hail poppers.
Great video !!!Man there is alot of bass in my lake ( white, largemouth, smallmouths) can't wait tell the ice is off and tey to get a bass on my fly rod.
Is floating line fine with 9 foot 6-8lb leader of normal mono or fluro to through clousers minnows and poppers also how durable are those clousers minnows they should last a good season or 2 right?
Calvin, where can I buy your lures and flies? I am just getting back into fly fishing after several years. Used to tie lots of stuff, but not ready to do it all just yet. I have looked everywhere. I live on a small lake loaded with largemouth bass and want to get out there and give it a go.
I like a 6 weight, sometimes use a 7 or 8 weight for bigger flies. I'm making a video with all my favorite bass gear. Keep an eye out for it in the next couple of weeks.
Thank you for your time making this video, my question is (except for your #1 fly which I like) what fly line do you use to throw the others on? Sinking-floating
If I only had 5 bass flies!
The chartreuse and white clouser might be the most productive multi-species fly of all time. But it is especially productive for smallmouth
I agree!
I fish the surf 4-5 times a week and never leave without an assortment of clousers. They are great for halibut inside the balboa peninsula as well
Your flys are my favorites, after using for a few years, they have produced some spectacular fish! Thanks so much Alvin! 👍👍🎣
My pleasure!
Thanks for the video! I used your Dedeaux popper in Bimini, Bahamas recently for large jacks and barracuda on a wire leader. They were blowing it up!
Aw man, that's awesome!

The Dedeaux popper works well in yellow on the smallmouth bass of New England!
Good to know!

Glad you like them!

Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment.
Thanks Alvin. A good refresher was this.

There is a story, guess I need to tell it! 😂
Yes please do! Would love to hear it. (Don’t forget to include the GPS coordinates also.) 😜😂

Not yet!
Some good patterns in there. I am a fan of the flip flop popper myself.
Thanks!

Man I’m with you on the sometimes it’s just easier to buy. I tie a lot but some patters are just good to buy.
after tying the flip flop popper i thought it was the most dinky fly ive ever seen. i now know it smacks bass from the depths bro
Just tied that popper yesterday!
Good luck!
The fly you call snake fly . Umpqua makes them and calls them wool head sculpin. I have some in #4 black and have caught crappie to catfish on it
Another great video! Really enjoy them!
Thank you very much!
is the snake not just a sort of bunny muddler

Crayfish are annoying to tie I buy mine too. I no longer feel shame
No shame, I tried a couple of times to tie them and gave up.
Hey man I’m wondering what weight rod would be good for largemouth bass

@@AlvinDedeauxFlyFishing ok thank you
What size hook is on flip floper, thanks for your time
I think these are a 1/0, but you can make them bigger or smaller. Just size them so the first layer of foam covers most of the hook shank. Good luck!
What size and weight fly rod do you recommend for bass

@@AlvinDedeauxFlyFishing thanks man
Hey do you know a good 8wt fly rod for bass under 250-200$?
Check out TFO or Orvis.
Ever notice the fickle similarity between fish and women...?
😂
Perfect timing. I am tying up some Dedeaux Poppers & Clousers for an upcoming smallmouth trip.
Good luck!
I love the orvis crawfish fly. With an 7foot 11inch bass fly rod. It’s casts amazingly
Thank you for your time making this video, my question is (except for your #1 fly which I like) what fly line do you use to throw the others on? Sinking-floating
Great question. I would use a floating line most of the time. In the winter when the fish go deep I throw the Clouser and the crawfish on a sink tip.
@@AlvinDedeauxFlyFishing Thank you for the information Alvin
Nice line up! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Ive watched this like 4 times but cant commit myself to buying em. Thinks its time…
Really neat channel
Welcome aboard!
Hello Alvin! That was an interesting selection. Do you use these flies for bigmouth bass or smallmouth bass?
Both sort of. We don't have many smallies around he. Closest would be our Guadalupe bass.

The popper looks so silly its cool that it catches fish so well lol thats hilarious
It's true!
Thanks Al…You have me stoked for season!
You and me both!
I just tied my first foam popper using your recipe. Very Cool…I do not see a way to share a pic but thanks for the great tutorial!
For the claws, you might can use felt or foam. Cut out the shape
