I can def say plaster of paris takes a long time to cure and if you mess with it before it cures, it breaks super easily and not so easy to just glue back together. I use it to make small items for fake bakes, like tiny, but easy shape toppings (little candies, etc) and I was thinking maybe this would be a good alt to Plastr od Prs but maybe not if its expensive. So, I’ve used this and the dry and wet stick together very well. However, even if you think you’ve got the color exactly the same, you’re still going to see a bit of a line where the two meet. This won’t be replacing my regular resin anytime soon, but it definitely has its place. It’s a great way to quickly see if you’re homemade molds are any good and for making prototypes.
Look up Steve McDonald Arts and Crafts. He has some good videos on Resincrete and combining it and resin together. He also explains that it takes 24 hours (I think) for the resincrete to fully harden so you have to be careful until then.

I have been working with ResinCrete off and on for about 2 months now. I don’t measure it - just eyeballing the consistency. Depending on how intricate my mold is, the more water I use. The runnier it is the easier it picks up any design in the mold. Also, I wait at least one hour before I demold. This is especially important if you have some delicate molds. Another tip - I never sand these pieces. If necessary, I use my deburring tool and smooth it out with a sponge under running water. It works like a charm.
It’d be great to cast that hexagon in resin to have one of each, then start drop testing them onto concrete at increasing heights to compare breakability. I’m guessing the Resincrete would break by three feet up and that resin might make it to six.
This looks like “faster plaster” a craft I did back in 90’s. Not that it’s a bad thing but certainly not a replacement for resin in any way at all!! Thanks for doing this video so we could see before buying!
Thanks for the share. I haven't used this product, but i make my own simular to it and they look the same. I use fine concrete and plaster of paris, then add epoxy resin into it, making sure the concrete and plaster are completely mixed 1st. Then add Epoxy to it. It has the same effect and I'll bet the same durability. Cure times will very.
Interesting! What ratio of Concrete to Plaster of Paris to Water do you use? Gonna have to give that a try! I've always used PoP the fairly standard way and the only variance is how much water to use depending on the thickness I wanna work with. Thanks for inspiring me to think further outside the box :)
Try mixing the pigment with the water beforehand that way you don’t have to worry about the mix time, I assumed the wax was for mould release rather than finishing.
I have worked with Resin Crete since it came out & it take a few days for it to cure completely & yes it will brake if it falls on the floor because it is like ceramic.
I’ve been using Resincrete for awhile and I really like it. I’ve tried 3 different kinds and I prefer it over the other two eco-pours. I’ve mad all kinds of things. It should not be demolded too quickly for deeper pours and leave the delicate things like the strawberry topper in for a little longer. Also you shouldn’t wax or paint till the next day to give it plenty of time to cure completely. I also use wax on some things but other things that I paint or tattoo no wax of course and also use a spray varnish on a lot of my pieces. Good luck. Ps I use it more than resin because I live in a house without an extra room so the Resin Crete is safer for me and my dog.
hey, what kinds of paint did you use to paint it? i watched another video and someone used craft acrylic paint (Folk Art i think) and it didn't stick to it
I’ve used Resincrete quite a bit. It’s very breakable. I only use it when I can top it with resin. I’ve used it to make phone grips, key chains etc. and covered it with uv resin. I don’t have the wax but from my experience, I would wait 24 before waxing it unless the directions say otherwise. It’s very smooth. I love the finish. I just wish it was stronger. I dropped a trinket that was about 3/4” thick and it broke in two (no air bubbles). And it was dropped on laminant flooring. I can’t imagine how it would do on ceramic lol Just an fyi, you can paint it after the fact. I haven’t found a pigment that works as I want it to. Jesmonite is much much better in strength than Resincrete but it is a bit harder to work with because it’s thick and cures really fast. Isn’t it strange how if feels really cold once it’s out of the mold? It goes to room temperature after a day of sitting. I’m thinking it the water that evaporates.
aw that’s a shame it is breakable. I was going to do a drop test with the half strawberry I ended up with the first go haha. 🤔 I LOVE the feel of it. 🤣 So silky smooth.👌🏻

I was skeptical and thought resincrete was just an expensive version of plaster of pairs at first. However, I quickly realized how wrong I was. The smoothness it offers and its ability to effortlessly fill in intricate details won me over completely. ResinCrete definitely exceeded my expectations!

Creative freedom will be your best friend for this product I'm thinking of. 🤷🏽♀️ I would love to do this myself, but unfortunately, I have issues with my hhands.
I keep picturing that white tray as a frame. I wonder if you arranged dried flowers or pictures or little trickets and then filled it with clear resin if it would stick.
My guess about the colour being more intense at the top of the mold than the bottom could have been related to the dye that you're using. If you're using something alcohol or oil based it's going to have a lower density than the water it's dissolved in and will migrate to the top of the solution over time as the emulsion breaks down.
It looks very chalky and brittle. Is there some way to shore it up?? I think it has applications, just not sure what is made would be durable. Also interested to see how it plays with epoxy resin.
I wonder what the items would be like if coated with epoxy resin? Would they be more durable? Small flat items and topcoating might be the easiest way to test. I would be concerned about the amount of invisible dust particles in the air. 🙊 How are you guys doing with wildfire smoke?
I want to try using it with resin next! So Ill have to see how it goes. The resincrete seems to be very absorbent so Im very curious to see what happens if I pour resin on it.🤔 Where I am is far from the fires but its really bad! Resincete works great!! I find plaster of paris to be a more cost-effective alternative. Nonetheless, resincrete delivers better results, wither, smoother, not to mention that it is much more easier to work than plaster.
I recently bought white concrete and mixed it with resin and it did leave a few air bubbles. I made a medium size planter container with a coaster for it to sit on. I colored it with some mica powder and the planter turned out beautiful with a velvety finish. I used the exact same mixture for the coaster but this time it left a very shiny finish. Both came out beautiful.
It's durable once it cures all the way, it's super fragile when it comes out of mold until it fully cures. And definitely wait till it's full cure to wax or seal
I have only just purchased this product today so I'm a little bit nervous about using it I thought there was a spray or something like that that sealed the resin Crete once your mould was complete. I have to say what you made was very brave especially the top for your strawberry nice job 😊
Have you ever used Jesmonite? It's a really great resin plaster from the UK, with the final casting feeling more like stone than chalky/porous plaster. I'd be curious to know how the Resincrete compares to it.
This reminds me of plaster projects when I was a little girl except we painted our pieces. I don't know this for sure but it's my opinion (which probably isn't worth much - LOL! 😄) that if someone happens to be making something one solid color, I think it would be easier to blend the color pigment into the water before mixing with the powder Resin Crete. Either way, great job on the demo!👍 Thanks! 🙂
OHhh.... I don't even work with resin, and knew the outcome, as you did too 😂 These are the "Testing Stuff out Tutorial Video's" on here that I Love xxx 😊

Thank you. I had to quit epoxy resin due to my severe contact allergy. I got rid of most of my molds and i am heartbroken. Maybe this would be an alternative for me as well as uv resin.
*{Slightly off topic question;}* I’m new to the world of resin, so this might be a really common thing to do… but has anyone mixed some plaster of Paris powder into their resin? This video made me curious if it would give you the strength of regular resin, but would have a “softer” feel/texture to it…? 🤔
I was wondering that, too...sort of, anyway. I was wondering if anyone's mixed cement and resin together. I thought that's what "ResinCrete" was implying: that it's a mix of resin and concrete. But judging from the other comments, it seems like ResinCrete is just hyped up plaster of Paris.
Yah would love to see a strength test. Even a simple side by side comparison with resin, Plaster of Paris etc drop test :) Given how porous I've heard this to be I'm so curious if a person could soak resin into this and make it super tough. Vacuum chamber infused perhaps?
That looks like just Plaster of Paris. I bet the company is just using Plaster of Paris and calling it Resincrete to make more money since Plaster of Paris is cheap.
This reminds me of that product Faster Plaster they used to sell years ago, I don't know if they still sell it or not. It hardened very quickly and looks the same.
Did you let any of these pieces cure for the final 24hrs before you applied the wax? I haven't heard many folks talk about the feel/durability of resincrete post full cure.
I applied the wax after I demolded it but I think I did it wrong. I should of waited 24hrs. But I have been using the white hexagonal piece as a coaster and its still like the first day. I was planning on doing an update video in a couple of weeks. :)
This looks like white dental stone aka Orthostone (what is used to make moulds for orthodontic prostheses etc.), and the mixing ratio is about right...
Steve McDonald did a video of mixing resin and resincrete!!! It makes it a lot sturdier! I don’t think it would be good for coasters either with drinks sweating! I would say earrings, little figurines and trinket trays! Maybe brush or make up holders!
Good luck on getting a darker color they stay pastel because of the white color! The pieces you did are so cute!! 🥰 if you do find a way to dye it darker please share a video!! ❤

Thanks for sharing your experiences! I have had an unopened bag of Resincrete for a few months now, just waiting for inspiration on just what project I wanna use it on. I guess my biggest concern with the product is that there isn't really all that much in a bag and the water really dissolves it from what I can tell. That brings me to a question. Having dissolved 108g of water into 360g powder about how much volume of resincrete mixture did this produce, could you guess?? I am kinda guessing not much more than 200ml?? Its a lot of product dissolved into a little bit of water. Maybe I shouldn't be internally comparing it to Plaster Of Paris where I have a great big ole bag/sack of that stuff to work with :p If you've read this far thanks for taking the time! I've really been enjoying your channel! Not many straight white males my age into this kinda stuff so I don't have many people to learn from or talk to on the issue but this resin hobby could be appealing to many personality types it all depends on what you wanna create!! :D
Interesting naming, 2 things it definitely is not. I see that it says not compatible with resin pigments. I'm assuming this means metal powders too? No coldcasting bronze resincrete? I see claims that it's high gloss but it looks very satin. Are you just using molds that give a satin finish?
I have that strawberry mold. Hold do you get the resin down in the leaves? I’ve tried different ways but I cannot get a solid topper yet! Dang leaves come out all pointy and sharp because the resin doesn’t fill the full mold. Thanks!
Mist the inside of your mold with 99% alcohol right before pouring the epoxy resin, this breaks the surface tension on the mold and allows the epoxy resin to fill the small spaces without the tiny bubbles. The resin pushes the alcohol to the surface of the piece where it evaporates so there are no issues with the epoxy resin when it cures.
I know you were wearing a mask, but is the toxicity the same as regular resin? And is this similar to plaster of paris? OH, and I wonder if you could use it WITH regular resin.

May the resincrete need more time to harden? Looks nice and seams that the texture is good.
I’ve never tried Jesmonite. Its quite pricy here in Canada. But I hope to one day!😁
Hydrocal.
It's a form of plaster of Paris. Try adding the plaster mix to the water. Never add water to the mix.
Great video!!!
Wow had never heard of this but this seems really nice. Do wish they had a way to make it clear but also can't believe how vibrant that white is.
OHhh.... I don't even work with resin, and knew the outcome, as you did too 😂
These are the "Testing Stuff out Tutorial Video's" on here that I Love xxx 😊
yeah, this looks more like a maybe stronger plaster, rather than a resin alternative, which while im not surprised, but still kinda disapointed. been wanting to start experimenting with resin crafts, but it's quite expensive, which has been making me hesitant to start
Used a similar media (mix2mold) with the strawberry mold and i absolutely love it 😭💚 its so cute
According to the Q&A section on their Amazon listing this product is basically like gypsum.
Q: Is this resin or jesmonite?
A: ResinCrete are the compounds of a variety of calcium-containing inorganic, which has been deeply processed and refined the essence.
Its physical properties are similar to gypsum, but it is better and durable, strong, ideal for handmade creations.

@alidahart143, it's possible that it is especially finely ground gypsum or gypsum-adjacent mineral.
I wonder if there's any paints that will work well or less well if you were to paint them after....like acrylics, gouache.....
Thank you. I had to quit epoxy resin due to my severe contact allergy. I got rid of most of my molds and i am heartbroken. Maybe this would be an alternative for me as well as uv resin.
You did it! The strawberry was so elegantly put together. Resin queen! New friend here to stay ❤
I think it’s plaster and Portland cement. With acetone pigments. I’m guessing. Could be done much cheaper, your pieces do look pretty. Good job.
I love resincrete as an alternative…Claire’s Crafty Corner, she does a lot of beautiful pieces using Eco pour (resincrete).
yeh. I feel this resincrete is rebranded plaster of paris. but maybe finer
I forgot to ask how tough it is or does it break as easily as plaster does? Thanks
Haha who knows. Could be a possibility!
It reminds me of the plaster of Paris kits I had as kid
It looks very fine, so it may be an extra finely ground gypsum powder such as used for dental castings.
I think it'd be cute to break the hexahon tray. Put say 1/2 back into the mold then pour epoxy resin to fill the mold!
I'd vote to see that too :)
This reminds me of that product Faster Plaster they used to sell years ago, I don't know if they still sell it or not. It hardened very quickly and looks the same.
Thankyou for doing this I wanted to try this but wasn’t sure. This Video was really helpful 😊
I agree that this looks like plaster of Paris, specifically, I think it is ultra cal.
This looks like white dental stone aka Orthostone (what is used to make moulds for orthodontic prostheses etc.), and the mixing ratio is about right...
How about using this to make a diffuser. Glaze the bottom and half of the sides to put oil in? Like the strawberry maybe smaller.....
It seems pretty cool, Im wondering how heavy it is once cured compared to resin though!
Ooo I should weigh it!
Aww the strawberry is so cute and the resin crete seems to be good to work,so with love them all xx
Does it shrink or warp at all? Thx for this video.
Steve McDonald did a video of mixing resin and resincrete!!! It makes it a lot sturdier! I don’t think it would be good for coasters either with drinks sweating! I would say earrings, little figurines and trinket trays! Maybe brush or make up holders!
I recently made tea light holders and they came out so cute! But yes resincrete isnt for everything.
Good luck on getting a darker color they stay pastel because of the white color! The pieces you did are so cute!! 🥰 if you do find a way to dye it darker please share a video!! ❤
I definitely will!
@@JBKonsCreations I’m thinking about trying milk paint powder! It’s saturated and all you add to the powder is water to make the paint so it isn’t gonn hurt anything!
I’ve tried something very similar but it was expensive because I was only able to get it from England 🤦🏻♀️. I felt the same as you do. My mix was 2.5/1
Probably nothing I will be using. but, none the less, kind of cool. Thanks for sharing.
I wonder If you can use acrylic paint on it to help the colour?
Interesting I may Purchase some Lets Resin Resin Crete. Greay video.
I would use a wax brush to apply the wax.
You could try to make dry shakers possibly
challenge accepted?😂👌🏻
Haven't heard of resincrete before this was fun to see but Im curious how it would do on canvas id love to see a video of that if you are able!!
I think this would be fantastic for like decorative plant pots.
yess I think so too.
Maybe I shouldn't be internally comparing it to Plaster Of Paris where I have a great big ole bag/sack of that stuff to work with :p
If you've read this far thanks for taking the time! I've really been enjoying your channel! Not many straight white males my age into this kinda stuff so I don't have many people to learn from or talk to on the issue but this resin hobby could be appealing to many personality types it all depends on what you wanna create!! :D
I didn’t use wax on mine, but a very thin layer of UV resin or CA glue.
Interesting naming, 2 things it definitely is not. I see that it says not compatible with resin pigments. I'm assuming this means metal powders too? No coldcasting bronze resincrete?
I see claims that it's high gloss but it looks very satin. Are you just using molds that give a satin finish?
I wonder if it will be harder once it sits and cures for a while.
Looks like it is just Ultracal (high strength plaster) used in dental labs and sfx makeup production.
I have that strawberry mold. Hold do you get the resin down in the leaves? I’ve tried different ways but I cannot get a solid topper yet! Dang leaves come out all pointy and sharp because the resin doesn’t fill the full mold. Thanks!
I squeeze the tips to push out the bubbles and then also use a tooth pick to help push them out :)
@@JBKonsCreations I squeezed the ends but did not try the toothpick trick. I’ll try it again.
You can paint resin Crete too!
Looks like Stewalin/Xyrarock tbh. Which is about a third to a fifth of the price if I am correctly remembering it.
Do you still need the respirators and ventilation that epoxy resin requires? What safety measure are required for this type of resin?
Will any wax work? Or do you recomened a type/brand?
I know you were wearing a mask, but is the toxicity the same as regular resin? And is this similar to plaster of paris? OH, and I wonder if you could use it WITH regular resin.
Is it easier to clean up than resin? Cleaning up uncured resin has been a real pain for me.
Can you use this stuff to make vessels for candle making?

I would like to know if Wax is Vaseline or not? It will be very useful to me if you answer.
thats to cute am liking the alterative thank you xxx
I'm interested at how durable these are. Smash something!! Also, if used as a coaster, would it absorb the water?
Ive been using the one I made as a coaster. Still seems intact and still feels so smooth. 🤔
@JBKonsCreations Why do I want one just to enjoy its' softness. I want to pet the coaster. Hmm. That means he needs a name. Benjamin. Benjamin, the soft coaster. 🤣
