I know this is sacrilege to our Ace faithful, but this was always my second favorite Final Boss in the series after Pixy. The music is spot on, and it was the one time I thought DRM really worked in a narrative sense. Sure, the story, characters and DRM overall irked many, myself included... but this final mission is a worthy one in the series even if people feel they HAVE to make sure they diss the game as a whole.
say what everyone wants about the on-rails dogfight mode but the choreography makes for good shots especially how a lot of targets are given close up once defeated. Also the attack helicopter missions are good enough although a bit dragging, considering how nowadays the other one is the underwhelming Comanche.
Story wise, AH was not particularly bad. A bit bland and simplistic compared to international conspiracy a la AC5, but decent. Gameplay wise, its not even Ace Combat.

Maybe it's too scripted or caters too much to the casual, but Ace Combat isn't exactly known for hardcore gameplay.

Markov is good at dodging because he has an infinite flares so don't shoot him just follow him save your ammo until the part when they say he his attempting to drop trinity shoot him down there
no. if you at least hit him once he will attack you less, if you do nothing you have more difficultys with him. as hi will counter attack more frequently if you dont shoot him.
infinite flares with no reload times, can maneuver vertical 180' in a second with a big ass bomb on his wing, fire missiles in front of you, and not destroyed after 20+ missiles. So yeah sure he's an "Ace"
For those of you who have not gotten this far in the game good luck taking Markov down because he's a royal pain to take down and be ready for a long fight and be prepared for it to take you a few tries

Somehow, that last moment- Markov attempting to deploy Trinity as Bishop hammers away at him trying to stop it, with the music, followed by that desperate scramble to shoot down the missile.... actually pretty intense.
Are we just gonna ignore that he was dragged at over 5000mph by his the enemy, survived a tactical nuclear explosion and didnt get vaporized in the process, but only unstabilized and slightly damaged the aircraft?

Markov was truly a amazing foe. I understood his reasons. His devotion to his wife was no joke. He was really set on doing what he felt was right. It was tragic and it was not right what happened to him. It also was not right what he has done either but damn he really put it all on the line.
Seeing this game being played by another guy its kinda awkward, but when you play It by yourself actually feels good, its like hooking up with the weird goth girl from high school.
This game was nothing special but, shit, the final fight with Akula was chilling. The OST did half of the job and Markov storyline had a good part in it, too.

Cause AH is set in a timeline closer to our own while AC7 is in strangereal where ADFX-02 and all the other super planes (not to mention in lore the fact the planes are made extremely durable and easy to make and repair due to Gründer) exist as well as the inhumanly skilled pilots... It's just that Mihaly is another one of those pilots and he's still got multiple wingmen as well as the fact we shoot him down in one of those super planes (the Strike Wyvern) and even in prior fights he retreated after taking a certain amount of damage to his plane meanwhile Markov managed to launch the Trinity while flying an SU-57 and getting absolutely riddled with bullets and hammered with rockets... By himself...
I remember when my dad got me this game has a surprise for having good grades, I was shocked at the graphic quality for an Xbox360 game and the gameplay left me out of words
Well, dogfight mode is widely unliked, and I don’t like it much, though I will say one thing. The scenery and the movement are the only things that makes it good. It gives you the time to focus on it while “taking out” an enemy. It’s like a cutscene.

Bruh ERS was just a completely choice thing and only has to be used in one mission properly,the OFF mode is really good aslong as it's in expert mode,like comparing expert and starter in ac7 it gives proper control of the plane
I had a hard time with the last mission bc of akula’s frequent dodging and flares, and when i finally finished it i couldnt even watch the ending because i pressed the skip button accidentally
Gotta admit this game especially its ending stuck with me more than Ace Combat 7. The music and the final dogfight though mostly scripted felt amazing.
If you think that this is good, than check out the original ace combat games, you actually have to use skill to dogfight which makes the game more fun.

I was struggling at first but i figured out his tactics. Markov makes you chase him in DFM and while you are busy trying to land a hit on him, he fires a group of missiles and those missiles scatters around you and shortly later, they are on your tail, coming at you in a straight line. That's when you cancel the DFM and out maneuver the missiles then chase Markov again
The DFM is forced and oversimplifies the gameplay, the final level is scripted bullshit, the plot is Modern Warfare (they even have the same credits style), but absolutely bland and every character is so boring that I would prefer Varcolac squadron (from another horrendous real world Ace Combat game) over them. "Lore nerds" my ass, cope more.
The soundtrack is something that makes this mission special and completes this dogfight and Markov story like nothing else.

The DFM is forced and oversimplifies the gameplay, the final level is scripted bullshit, the plot is Modern Warfare (they even have the same credits style), but absolutely bland and every character is so boring that I would prefer Varcolac squadron (from another horrendous real world Ace Combat game) over them. "Lore nerds" my ass, cope more.
