Paper magazine wrote in a September 2019 issue that we have forgotten what human faces actually look like and they're not wrong. We see such altered human beings both in photos, and in person that we've started equating beauty with a standard that is unachievable by natural means. Unachievable without going under the knife and unachievable without editing our photos to the point where we look unrecognizable.

Yes, there's like three fake lips look, the inflated balloon lip look, the Joker mouth, & the elongated upper lip + philtrum that gives them sort of a horse-face... then there's that "pinched nose" look/pencil nose makes their face look bigger than it really is.

Honestly this whole “being curvy but with an extremely flat stomach and beautiful face” thing is literally part of the reason why so many teenagers are developing eating disorders-

When did making oneself look like a _Bratz doll_ become the 'beauty standard to aspire to'? It looks absolutely _alien._ And these women are giving the next generations of girls a complex because they _don't_ look like that. I'm so glad social media & the concept of 'influencers' didn't exist back when I was super impressionable. So many people's mental health is harmed by this insanity.
I couldn't have said it any better myself. Beauty standards continue to get more and more out of touch with reality as time goes on. When and why did it become considered attractive to look like an alien with no ribcage? So MANY girls who idolize Marilyn Monroe have NO IDEA that as beautiful and statuesque as she was, she wore a size TWELVE. She's a fashion and beauty icon who actually looked like a real woman (let alone a human being).

@@gina_st.george I love the fact tht Marilyn Monroe was a size 12/14 (she was a 12 on the bottom and a 14 up top, probs due to her large chest but she also had a wide back) and all of the curves and beauty she is known for were most of the things and areas I struggled with myself when I was a teen & young adult. It was learning about REAL women like Marilyn that helped me learn to accept myself and all my flaws. I don't think I'd make it thru teenage life in this day & age, I'm SO very glad I grew up b4 the age of the interweb😶🌫️

P!nk is the poster child for 'real'. Only about 50% of her photos on Instagram have makeup and the other photos wearing makeup are usually for events or shows. She makes ZERO attempts at being fake. 🤬.
Tyra did not look drastically different, lol. She looked like no makeup, then makeup. Not everyone has 1-toned skin. Especially women of color. 😉😀

When you actually aknowledge and realize that most "influencers" and "celebrities" either alter their photos, get plastic surgery, get professionnaly photographed, have access and can pay for expensive procedures and skin care products, you start understanding that there is nothing wrong with you. All the pictures of them that you see are most likely not what they look like IRL or "non-attainable" for "non-famous" or "non-rich" people.
Its funny I use to hate having big lips but a ton of people have payed a ton of money to have lips like mine 😂

I had an 18 inch waist when I was younger. I'm 4' 10" and at the time weighed 85 lbs. I used to wear a gold necklace around my waist. I wasn't anorexic, but I was pretty close to it. I'm almost 60 and there's no way I'm ever going to be that way again, lol!

I had a 34"bust , 22"waist, 34"hips figure through high school and when i was first married. I had a hyperactive thyroid so i couldn't gain weight. I remember reading how tiny women in the Victorian era were. They had corsets to help them get a 15" waist. After i had my first baby things finally slowed to normal with my thyroid. Now if i could get a 31" waist i would be totally happy. I am 61 after all. Cuddly grandma shape is good for me.
That’s why I don’t use Instagram often anymore. It is very tiring to see these overly “perfect” people living their lavish life.
I love it when my friends tell me that I am pretty in person. I am not photogenic and I don't usually put filters in my photos 🤣

I always laugh when someone says „bella hadid is the most beautiful women in the world (scientifically proofen)“. Yeah....after plenty of surgeries, faking the golden ration like punching a blob of clay into a pretty shape. Thatˋs no achievement at all. Google pictures of carla bruni in the 90ies and you know where bellas face is from. The difference is, Carlas face was not a bag of fake back then. The title of bella hadid is the same betrayal as people loosing a ton of wheight, getting sugeries, change every feature and then tell others to love themselves how they are....yeah of yours (there is nothing bad about surgeries but honoring something fake is just wrong imho)

I'm naturally a redhead. Redheads often have blonde or red eyelashes and fair skin. That's why we look so drastic without makeup.
I'm naturally a redhead, but my mother is almost 100% Native in, so luckily I am slightly more tanned, (and tan well instead of getting sunburnt) I don't have any freckles on my face, (I have some on my hands and knees though), my eyebrows aren't blonde, more like light brown (same with my eyelashes), but luckily the hair on my arms and legs are blonde. I'm not bragging, I just think I inherited more of my mom's Native American genes, because two of my siblings have red hair also, but they are VERY fair, they sunburn fast, and have really light colored eyelashes and eyebrows. What's even weirder, is that with me having the dominant genes, I ended up with green eyes, but my siblings have the recessive genes, but they ended up with brown eyes.
Almost all of these girls look exactly the same after editing. I’m sick of this trend.
And the most beautiful one in this video is the one who made it.
