This is legit. Creamed spinach is always requested by my girlfriend for Christmas Eve to go with our prime rib. This is the first recipe I followed that didn't include cheese. It was wonderful. Only change I made was I put it in a baking dish, topped with good parm cheese and baked at 400 for 30 minute until the top was browned. So damn good. Thank you for the recipe.
It's on the blog. I found it right away, not sure why you couldn't see it. foodwishes.blogspot.com/2010/02/creamed-spinach-king-of-steakhouse-side.html
I made this as a side dish for Christmas today. One it was the best creamed spinach I’ve ever tasted. Two the addition of one clove with the butter, onions, and garlic was amazing. It does something to the creamed spinach, but you can’t quite put your finger on it, but definitely makes it extra yummy. Thank you chef John for another wonderful recipe.
I never comment on videos, but I owe you a big "thank you" ... I've used your recipe for the last 3 years and is a hit in my family Thanksgiving dinners
I made this tonight with sweet potato fries and baked chicken for my family and it was a huge hit. My picky eight year old even had seconds. It was very easy and super delicious. I'll be making this over and over.
I surprised my husband and made this for him a couple of weeks ago. He loved it and said that it was better than his own recipe. Thanks for teaching me to cook fresh spinach and sharing a great recipe.
I watched a few other videos but I had to confirm with the master and I'm glad I did. I love how you never skimp on fundamentals and technique, the presentation is the cherry on top.
Did this tonight. Oh my, so good. I never could find the measurements/ingredient list as it was posted in 2010 so I eyeballed and guesstimated. It' must be hard to mess this up because it came out great. That one little clove makes such an impact, really good. Thank you Chef.
This is perfect creamed spinach! One of my all time favorite recipes but I could never get it to taste like the high end steakhouse kind. This is so luxurious!!! Thanks chef!!
Hello, I really like the way you explain these recipes...I have already tried the "cream of mushroom soup" and it came out great...now I want to try to do the spinach. love the way you keep the camera steady and not too much blah blah blah...keep doing the way you do it....your awesome!!!!! Thank you very much!
I've always wondered what went into creamed spinach as it's not common over here in Australia. This looks very tasty though and I'm definitely going to give it a try. I make a vegetarian lasagne with spinach and bechamel and this is very similar except for the onion in it so I'm sure it will be lovely.
Yum. I made it and mixed in some parm cheese. Then baked it with some parm on top. Very good. Didn’t have nutmeg or clove. I’ll try those next time minus the cheese.
Oh this looks really good! i used to eat the stuff from Boston Market when I worked there. That was some good stuff, but this looks better. I will definitely try it one day.
Valentines Day, not first date. When someone can overlook the spinach in your teeth, and/or you can overlook the bits in theirs, it's time to really get serious.
My kids' favorite Sunday morning breakfast was creamed spinach on poached egg and toast. So yummy! Your recipe sounds so much better and I'll def try it!
This is surreal. I was over someone's house and they taught me how to make creamed spinach. I swear all he did was cook a bag of spinach then mix it with sour cream and season all!
I know this was filmed a long time ago. I have to tell you...I had this many years ago at the House of Prime Rib, a family favorite restaurant. I've tried to make it here in WA state many times but it never measured up! Thank you for this recipe , I think it's the ONE!!!!!
One important thing to note about House of Prime Rib's creamed spinach is that they use bacon in theirs. On top of that, I highly recommend you add garlic and finely grated parmesan.
Ali Wehr I live in Montana now, but the rest of my family still lives in the Bay Area. My brother has a borderline obsession with House of Prime Rib, so we try to go there whenever we have the chance to all get together. I only found out that they used bacon in their creamed spinach fairly recently, even though I've been making my tweaked version of this recipe for about 3 years. The bacon can elevate it to a whole new level.
*+100nitrog* I'm in Spokane now but I was born in Berkeley and lived in the Bay Area til 2006. House of Prime Rib is my forever favorite restaurant. Lots of wonderful memories were made there!
Even though I had to substitute some ingredientsbecause I used what I had on hand (like cinnamon butter instead of regular butter and nutmeg) , the final product exceeded my expectations. I did add a splash of lemon juice to provide that tang I was looking for. Overall, fabulous base recipe! Screw healthy; I'll go for flavor any day! :)
Your awesome!! Everything was on on point .. extremely pleased with this video!! Thank you soo much my own grandmother wont give me any verbal or written recipes.. she says I'll get them when shes dead.. lol shes 80!! I asked her over 20 years ago😂🤗 thanks again.. #FaithfulWatcher

This is literally the best cream spinach, I have been making this the best 6 years, thanks Chef John!
You're welcome

1/2 onion, finely diced
1 whole clove
4 cloves garlic, very finely minced
1/3 cup flour
1 1/2 cups milk
salt and pepper, to taste
large pinch of freshly ground nutmeg
Awesome

I've made this for years...even my kids love it! Nice job explaining the squeezing process. The most important part.
I made this tonight with sweet potato fries and baked chicken for my family and it was a huge hit. My picky eight year old even had seconds. It was very easy and super delicious. I'll be making this over and over.

I said the same thing
Made this today for dinner. My husband loved it! Thank you!
I watched a few other videos but I had to confirm with the master and I'm glad I did. I love how you never skimp on fundamentals and technique, the presentation is the cherry on top.
Made this a few hours ago. Me and my wife finished it all with steak and potatoes. So yummy.
His videos make cooking seem so fun. I'm definitely using this recipe for thanksgiving.
Chef John is GOD !!!!!!
I made mine with roasted chicken breast and a side a rice !!!
Did this tonight. Oh my, so good. I never could find the measurements/ingredient list as it was posted in 2010 so I eyeballed and guesstimated. It' must be hard to mess this up because it came out great. That one little clove makes such an impact, really good. Thank you Chef.

Great Job!!!
This is perfect creamed spinach! One of my all time favorite recipes but I could never get it to taste like the high end steakhouse kind. This is so luxurious!!! Thanks chef!!
I agree. Although I do add heavy cream instead of milk and Parmesan for buttery thickness and taste.
Made this for Christmas Dinner this year - Delicious! Was the star of the show!
I like the clove and nutmeg additions.
I just cooked this for supper and it was a hit! Awesome recipe.
Made this for Thanksgiving this year. I've always loved creamed spinach, and now I know a delicious recipe! Thanks video from 12 years ago!

Excellent recipe!
I'm going to make it, but I will definitely add less flour and milk to make a thinner sauce.
