“Life would be ecstasy, you and me endlessly”
Here’s another entry into the soundtrack for the “Summer of Love”. “Groovin’” is the actual #1 song in the country today for its second week in a row on both Billboard and Cashbox. The Young Rascals will become known as simply The Rascals starting with the release of their “Once Upon A Dream” album in January, 1968. (they are one of my all-time favorite groups)
Who’s “Groovin’” in the studio today?: Frank Vanderpuil & Dona Waggoner in front of the riser at 2:49, Famous Hooks & Deborah Anderson at 3:10, Laura Bravo at 3:31, Bill Lawrence & Linda McClay with Forest Hutchins and Jodie Briscan behind them all at 3:37, John Pollard snapping his fingers and feelin’ it at 3:48, Don Sanuskar & Peggy Waggoner at 3:59, Mike Langham at 4:05, Buddy Schwimmer & Olivia “Liver” Favela with young Michael Michaud spinning in the background at 4:18, Lauren Montgomery at 4:35, Patty Barden at 4:37 and Robin Morris dancing on the riser (anyone know her partner’s name?).
…..And if you need a little more of Felix Cavaliere, Eddie Brigati, Gene Cornish and Dino Danelli, The Young Rascals will be on The Ed Sullivan Show next Sunday (June 4th) to perform “A Girl Like You” and, of course, “Groovin’”.
Thank you for your comments and thanks for watching!

The Mini, the Midi, and the Maxi. We all wore them in 1967, '68, '69. The sixties were so much fun, the fashion, the music, so much fun!

🙂...In ‘67 I was 10 years old, I watched ABS because my 17 year old sister Yolanda always watched it & danced along ....I love this song , funny how I had one of the lyrics wrong , I thought it said “ You and me & LSD “ LoL it’s you & me endlessly......my sister Yolanda died from cancer 8 years ago at the age of 61, I am now that age .,,. All these teenage girls remind me of her , my sis was a kind soul , and model beautiful too...I miss her tremendously....❤️

Amazing! The detailed info you - our "YouCanDanceToIt" author. Following the guidelines of "who's who" in these episodes of American Bandstand sure bring the viewers to a more personal level of appreciation in the people back then.
As said before by me: Dick Clark was a master in showmanship during his life time. He obviously like that 1960's collection of youth for the most part.
I was seventeen-and-a-half when this March, '68 show was on. Sometimes I wish I had been in that select group of teens for an episode.

Watching these girls dancing I'm reminded of my teenage years in the 60's. Pretty girls, who took a pride in their appearance. Slim, pert bottoms, not like the kettle drums they seem to carry around today. But most of all NO tattoos. ai'm 74 now, but night after night I come back for my nostalgia trip. Better than any drugs.

I was put in the cotton fields w my bro & parents; all to teach me to stay in school! I was also told, "Don't get pregnant!" No instructions about how not to except, " Avoid every occasion for sin.". Someone should teach kids that people come from either a taking/hating base or a giving/loving base. I didn't learn that until I was 38yrs. old. I remember thinking long skirts below the knees was awful and that I would never wear them. Well I ended up wearing them below the knees in the late 70's when maxi skirts were in style and years later short skirts looked strange to me when they came back in style. By then I didn't have the legs for short skirts anymore so to this day I wear them long but mostly wear pants.

Hi Peggy! I was a little confused when Dona said she was 16 and you are 17 here. I thought I might be mistaken thinking she is older than you. I guess it’s a ladies (and men too) prerogative to fudge their age a bit, lol. I love when you guys switch up dance partners too. It seems like they rarely did that back in Philadelphia which I think made the show a little stale at times...just my opinion.
I love watching these clips as much as anyone and I’m really glad you are enjoying them too. And thank you and your friends for not starting the mid-calf length dresses, yikes! It’s nice to see you around! :) -Aaron

That's a very good comment. However I can't remember any great bands from the last decade that produced any outstanding and longstanding hits. Unfortunately we have been overtaken by Rap, which allows people with no singing ability to dominate the charts. The more gangsta it sounds, the more popular it seems to be. Sigh.
