  • For obvious reasons we got the OMEN in as soon as we could. 356 IBO with a stable platform what's not intriguing.

    Finally someone shooting realistic hunting arrows. 👏 still not much upgrade from the Xpedite which I currently shoot 510 grain arrows set at 80lbs, 29 DL putting out 315 fps.

    the omen pro was the first bow I bought brand new. Then switched to the Axe 6 which is 1 if my all time favs. Shot good with the omen pro but in typical fashion for that type of bow struggled past 40yd.

    Love this review!!! And your honesty about ibo lol ! Something I never really thought about when it comes to ibo with a super light arrow and how it maintains speed with a heavier arrow. A Bow can be more efficient with a lower ibo rating ! Mind blown 🤯! Awesome job keep it up !

    It's super interesting that this along with some of the other bows you've run, some rated real fast like this, when punched into an IBO calculator are running within a couple FPS of what an IBO calculator says they should with a 500gr arrow.
    But bows like the Spectra E that is rated ATA 330 fps pushed the 500 gr arrow at about 305fps. That equates to about 365fps IBO from the same calculator. Ive seen some other reviews where lower rated ATA speed bows pushed arrows faster than higher rated IBO bows.

    Honest review, thanks. I've owned the original Omen, the Full Throttle, and the original Xpedite. Started shooting the original Evo 31 & 28 (non-speed bows) and realized how harsh the draw cycle and hand shock was on the speed bows. Since moving to the Mathews V3, I didn't realize a bow could be so smooth shooting. Shot the Levitate this year at a shop after a year of shooting the V3 and I was shocked (no pun intended) at how much hand shock that bow had. If I was given the Levitate, I would sell it on eBay and buy a V3x. With the limbs on the new Omen sweeping more forward, I can only imagine how much more hand shock there would be than the Levitate. All this for maybe 10'-15' more speed? Just not worth it to have your shoulder ripped off every-time you have to let down or those cams hitting the top of the blind or raking against tree limbs on a shot. Thanks for the review.

    • @brokenarrow6491

      The Levitate has much more hand shock than the Omen.

    • @RealRadNek
      @RealRadNek Рік тому

      I was speaking about the new Omen from ignorance as I have not shot it and it would make sense that the Omen being heavier would have less hand shock than the Levitate as I think about it. But my guess would be the Omen has more hand-shock than say the new Evo XF? I assume you've shot the new Omen. Have you shot the Evo XF? How does that compare to the Omen?

    • @BackyardBows
      @BackyardBows  Рік тому

      The omen is my favorite pse bow from this year, little more hand shock than the evo xf and the levitate (levitate had less vibration than I expected being a carbon) but for a speed bow very nicely constructed

    • @RealRadNek
      @RealRadNek Рік тому +1

      I would love to demo the omen and xf. Have you shot the Mathews V3 or V3X? When I made the switch from PSE to Mathews I had to retrain my brain since it felt so weird not feeling either the bow move in your hand or vibration. Also, since I hunt out of blinds and tree stands 33” bows can be more cumbersome.

      @@RealRadNek first review we did was on the v3x, personally I think the v3-v3x is a step back in the right direction for Mathews. I shot Mathews for years, but for the past 5-6 years I really hadn’t liked what was being put out, until last year v3 got me back on board, I currently have the v3x 29 and love it

    I wish there was somebody that compared this bow to others while using the s2 cams on shorter draw lengths. To me it seems like it would shine there because brace height is less critical with shorter draw lengths and the s2 cam was purpose built for short draws as opposed to like the prime inline not having a cam designed around short draw

    • @BackyardBows
      @BackyardBows  Рік тому

      I didn’t shoot all of them because we sell most after a review, but the three we still had I ran through new crono and they all varied 6-8 fps less with the g2 from Caldwell, so again any tested. In 2022 I think can be accurate comparison between bows since all were tested the same, everyone’s cronos varry slightly but I definitely trust this new one more
      Just reread your question I hope I’m answering it correctly

    I know this isn’t a hamskea review but I was told by my tech that a 7” brace can be manipulated to a shorter brace with a hamskea by mounting the rest further back behind the shelf. Do you know anything about that? P.s I really like your channel man. Very easy to comprehend what your saying.

    I’d be curious to see how this bow does at lower draw weights compared to other bows. Is it significantly faster at 60lb than a comparable Hoyt, Mathews, Bowtech, etc. at the same draw length? I don’t know, but it’d be interesting to see.

    • @BackyardBows
      @BackyardBows  Рік тому +1

      I would also be interested in that, rep suggested it be shot at 80lbs Limbs, said it’s what it was designed for

  • @StanielP
    @StanielP Рік тому +1

    The stability at full draw “tech” is not just the wider limb pockets it is also that at full draw the geometry of the limbs let the cams come towards the archer away from the riser thus making the brace height feel longer at full draw. PSE calls this the dynamic brace height (aka the brace height at full draw). I hope you understand what I’m saying. If I was to simplify it the limbs are not parallel lol that’s all it is it’s not “new technology”

    • @StanielP
      @StanielP Рік тому +1

      But yeah it’s marketing wankiteering at the end of the day. I heard they do ibo and ata testing with a un fleched hollow shaft with no insert and nothing on the string no d loop no peep. They also might be adjusting the number of speed nocks and the amount of strands used in their strings. You can also get more speed out of a bow by not having serving around the cams and the cable slide/roller. I think it’s possible all of these tricks are being used in ibo tests for every bow manufacturer.

    Wouldn't 355ibo at 29.5, 70#, 500grn effectively be 295fps? So it seems like the IBO works for the Omen while the other bows you mentiomed outperform their IBO. 🤔

    • @BackyardBows
      @BackyardBows  Рік тому +1

      I have mentioned this before high Ibos don’t always hold up with a heavier realistic arrow, and some bows have what I call strength to them, when the arrow weight is increased the speed stays at a higher fps, so high ibos don’t always come out on top once arrow grains is increased, so out perform the ibo calculator is correct
