If I can solve a personal problem first, there are high chances that I can solve it for someone else too and that someone could be close to me. Just like how Antony found someone in his church group.
After the first customer, I would then go ahead and compile everything that went right and wrong. Strengthen the right things and find solutions for the stuff that I did wrong.

I really appreciate your commitment to your employees and their financial and professional development. Too often, companies make a large percentage of their profit off of the excess value of their employee's labor. Paying your employees a thriving wage does multiple things. It allows you to hire from a larger pool of talented employees and to retain the employees you have. Great job at running a successful business!

1)find the right people and place when you want to scale

@@UpFlip absolutely. I started life as a mechanic then a logger. After I was injured I went back to school and got a degree in computer science. I spent my career as an IT consultant and was fortunate enough to work in several different countries and several different industries. None of that ever satisfied my desire to own and operate my own company doing something that produced tangible results. Software systems, while necessary never gave me the satisfaction and enjoyment I was looking for. Building home offices provides those opportunities and allows for a great deal of creativity.

Thanks, Paul, this was a great interview. $1.2 million ÷ 26 units = $46,154 avg. ea. It was stated that the $1.2 million was in "revenue", which would typically indicate net and not gross, but the way the conversation went they're meaning gross sales. $40k for a 120 sq. ft. office = $333/sq. ft. for premium materials and quality design & classy execution.

Great interview! Awesome business model. They should approach their building assembly with a modular bolt-together design if they want to overcome that national shipping problem. It might also allow them to overcome local building code challenges (size requirements, stud and insulation depth, hurricane strapping, etc.). That website modeler is very cool and a great sales pre-qualifying tool.

This video is interesting and at the same time a little hard to believe. 40-45k for 120sqft shed? Are there really that many rich people that are also stupid? I'm not sure how he's in business. Scale that up to a 2000sqft home - 750k that doesn't include bathrooms/plumbing/cabinetry etc. I doubt that shed cost more than 4-5k with labor and materials. This is why I'm forced to do everything myself. I guess it's working for him though so good for him.

Not sure how you can say 30 to 40 year shelf life after being in business for three years. Using 2"x4"'s for exterior walls makes it tuff to meet R value. If it's a portable shed/movable, no need for permits if the square footage is small enough. An RV plug eliminates the need for an L&I electrical inspection. That being said- CUDOs to you to find a niche. Very well done

Towns/villages and a home owner association are all different. Some will require permit. Some won't. Some will only allow a certain square footage..some will only allow certain max finish roof height.
