You had me till the conversation went to "Code". Code is a D-, the absolute minimum allowed by law for health & safety reasons. Any less is immoral and unethical. Code is not a certification of quality. Code says, "our homes are just bad enough". It's a cursory glance that takes just minutes. We can do better and we should, for Health and Comfort and Efficiency issues. If your family spends all their time indoors, you should have superior IAQ. If you don't have a filter, you ARE the filter, trapped with VOCs. I thought they were at least LEED or low, low HERS. I wasn't expecting Passiv Haus or even Zehnder HRVs. Now I see the houses (not "homes" anymore, sadly) as all icing and no substance, sizzle but no steak. That's a lot of glass to not factor the losses. I do like the icing and sizzle, and the pivot to fewer, better clients. Thank you for that.
We have “custom built” Holmes in my neighborhood and the builder used the cheapest windows and siding and materials like 10 houses have massive water problems to this day now . Beautiful POS
Guys, homes can still be built and sold in Texas for 250k with decent profit margins. We the consumers are just imbeciles that’ll pay 500k for the same home.

That one house with the white sprinkler coverplates is stressing me as a sprinkler fitter. Spend a couple extra bucks and get black or even a custom color match to the dark wood/black aesthetic.

Because these houses are so tiny and without headers lol it’s easy to build high end homes. No way on earth I’d use regular Osb for sheating. Nore that much pine/cedar ship lap. The long term maintenance will kill the home owners. But over all this is a market game we all gotta make money! Houses do look nice.
@@UpFlip ZIP this best sheating! If you use Osb you have to use house wrap, and house wrap and stucco don’t mix long term. Same with to much Pine or Cedar don’t mix well with Sun and rain, don’t matter what you put it. With in the new home warranty you’ll have to send the painters back out before warranty is up. That’s why lots of builders keep that style minimal but any how every one builds differently, oh yeah last even though there using iBeams for hoist and short span I’d use 2x6 headers no matter what. That’s mabe $100 bucks of wood and 1 Osb board ($30) to cover the entire house. But eliminates future (years/yes) of sagg. Only time code don’t require us to skip headers is manufactured Roof Thrust. But anyhow our code is Texas is different I guess. We do go by IRC International residence code! And that changes every 4 years . Mabe the city can change their own but never seen that.
I like that he talks less and listens more let's the audience get a better grasp of how steps gets done
Thanks for the feedback M Rainy. We definitely want our audience to feel informed. Should we do more videos in the home building industry?
Yo, this is the best content, I have seen in a while. Crazy great info on these stories.
More to come, Will! What would be the most interesting industry you'd like us to cover?
We have “custom built” Holmes in my neighborhood and the builder used the cheapest windows and siding and materials like 10 houses have massive water problems to this day now . Beautiful POS
Do you think it's an issue with supply shortage Big Beeg89?
50-70% yearly or total (which could be 25-35% if project takes 2 years)
Guys, homes can still be built and sold in Texas for 250k with decent profit margins. We the consumers are just imbeciles that’ll pay 500k for the same home.
To the excellent team, first of all I would like to express my appreciation for your channel and your amazing work, i learn from every video and see that the basis is similar in every business, your questions are precise and sharp, simply a pleasure to watch. I am from Israel and I have an insurance business, I would be happy if you would bring up business owners who provide services such as insurance agents, lawyers, accountants and the like. Thanks
That one house with the white sprinkler coverplates is stressing me as a sprinkler fitter. Spend a couple extra bucks and get black or even a custom color match to the dark wood/black aesthetic.
Always Valuable Content 💰
Very good video. Learned a lot. Thank you.
Windows and wood in Georgia are behind and insanely expensive. I build new and remodel and you need hundreds of thousands to keep these items in stock. I find it really hard to believe that it’s possible to just keep these custom pieces in stock
Do you feel location has a lot to do with availability of certain items Holden?
I too have built with cardboard sheeting in the watershed and I can tell you that it is not a great long-term option
Man these are some really nice houses he is building. Super nice and comfy, much better than the usual McMansions.
They're very unique Martin. Thanks for watching. Would you like to see more content like this?
Great episode.
Could I request a couple on the topic of ultra small businesses, to help inspire and encourage sole proprietorship entrepreneurs.
Great suggestion Whiskey sour. Any business type in particular?
@@UpFlip Idk about anything specific, but maybe pop up shops, retail arbitrage, Etsy/social media businesses, crypto speculating, home/garden/pet sitting, local business promoting, event planning (concerts, comedy, talent shows, art exhibits), gem/mineral hunting, teaching/tutoring, clean up service, videography/photography, gambling, inner city carrier service...That's all I can think of at the moment.
*Many people will panic to find a charger before their phone dies, but won’t panic to find a plan before their dream dies*
Thanks for always supporting Mikk. Did you enjoy the video?
33:50 He doesn't see other builders as competitors. The more I hear from successful people, the more I hear this sentiment. Viewing people who do what you do as competitors is a "scarcity" mindset.
That's right! Focus on how you can improve. The world is waiting for what you have to offer! 🙌
I can see how he makes all those margins. He cuts out on H&S! Who let's a member of the public walk on a roof while filming without a handrail!!!
Can't stop laughing at how often the metal is being bent honestly.
Same 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wow. 50 to 60% margins. Thats nice business strategy. Inspiring.
Thanks for watching Caspar! Are you in the same type of business?
Thats not sustainable long term.
@@MrNanah38 yes it is. These are specialized and unique homes and his clients are rich or well off.nthey spend for his creativity
Be safe on your projects. Need safety railing on your skywalk and your 2nd floor opening. Top rail, mid rail, and toe board. Have your framer put them up and maintain them. Stay up on OSHA standards. Save a life.
Well said! Thanks for watching, Michael! ☺️
LET'S GO!! I'm starting my career as a builder with a Ford focus as well lol! I always get looks with a 8ft ladder in my trunk.
This is great A G. Congrats.😀 How long have you been building?
@@UpFlip Right out of college worked for a big national builder for almost 2 years so far. Crazy time to start my career! You all asked PERFECT questions. Keep up the good work UpFlip! I'm also on the Dave Ramsey train V!!
Customers are people one delivers street medications to..
Clients however are people you collaborate, design and build homes for.
Here in Rosarito Baja California we have built and flipped some homes and made as much as 100% on our investment. Looking to do a lot more of it and less selling of real estate.
By the way in regard to price increases. Here most are made in block. I use brick as the cost have not changed much. We also use a lot of reclaimed lumber. And have a good group of specialist for cabinets granite, windows... the biggest challenges is plumber/electrician.
The content is great with a lot of information to consume.
You just need to do it. Cause if you don’t do it. Someone else will. Then you will see that someone and be like, I could also do that! But you didn’t…. didn’t you??..
Thanks for watching Dimitry! Would you get into a business such as this?
@@UpFlip yeah sureee

We're so glad to hear it!
A video on a video or photography business / studio owner would be nice
Thanks for the suggestion. We'll look into this!
I don't believe there's a 60% margin here
Great video I’m starting out with my first project soon & this really helps 🙏
Great to hear SKY! We're so happy this video was helpful. Will your project be in the same industry as this?
@@UpFlip Well similar I’m renovating homes up here in Toronto Canada. Just started my own company and my first major renovation project starts in 2 weeks I’m super EXCITED! and looking forward to a bright future in this industry. I know there will be ups and downs but I’ll learn along the way…Just wanna say thank you for putting out such great content..really appreciate it, Helps inspire people that if someone else can do it so can they. Much love I’ll be here watching your videos. ❤️
Good luck !
His house designs are 🔥
We appreciate the feedback Ryan. They are really nice. What type of business are you in?
This channel is so good

Great video. Could you talk to someone about ground leasing commercial real estate?
Unique is an absolute. Something cannot be "very unique"

i am not sure how realistic this guy he is in what he talking about spending valuable time with teh family but whatever he is saying man he is an Awsome gu
This man is building “BATMAN” homes. This is incredible 😂
If you are making 70% on the house that seems like over charging. But also good for you.
“If someone has no experience and wants to start doing this and doesn’t know where to start, what would you suggest?”
“Just do it”
Oh okay lmao great advice
What a beautiful "deck", MASSIVE
😂
Washington here sounds a lot like what we see in Toronto (ON, Canada), where the "average" home seems to hover around that 1M mark, and is pricing out a lot of people, or they just end up being too leveraged.
Thanks for sharing! Do you have own an "average" home over there?
Vitali looks like a dude I'll do Business with, Good Luck on your Future projects.. 👍🏼
This is great to hear Tony. Thank you! Should we do more construction videos?
Just subscribed- great stuff.
Thanks for subbing The Marpalm. We're so glad you're here. 😀👍⭐ What other types of businesses would you like to see on the channel?
Great builds! Hat's off to Vitali's success.
We appreciate that Andrew. Would you like to see more Contruction videos on the channel?
@@UpFlip For sure!
What a great partner/boss and business owner. I'm looking to find a home builder near me so that I can get be of value and make it in the industry!
Are you looking to build a home for yourself or get into the home building business MyAudLife?
@@UpFlip well I have a bit of experience doing residential construction and I’d love to be able to get into doing new builds for people. I know that requires a lot of connections and basically a team which is what I’m doing my best to figure out atm. I’ve noticed that the handyman work makes fairly more than some remodels but i also might be targeting the wrong customers. I want to get into the home building business since I definitely don’t want to juggle around multiple customers as Vitaliy was saying but I know I have to start somewhere building experience and making those connections!
@@audiesbuilds You should come over to seattle and start here with me.
@@Matias_Saenz haha that’s a bit far fetched for me in a ridiculously expensive market. Now what resources are you working with?
@@audiesbuilds I've got multiple investors willing to provide cash. I just need to partner up with someone whos got the correct experience.
Great interview, learn a lot, awesome homes!
That's music to our ears! We're you inspired to start this type of biz? 😍
Yes, I have a 5000 sqft lot in Long Beach, CA. I would like to add two houses. @@UpFlip
Awesome Guy. I mean who trades a boat for a lot... like everything about this guy, if he was in my area I would hire him.
I feel like 60% margin is extreme
"How many decks this house has?" should have done another take on that one my dude 😆
H2-B Visa looks very good right now. I'll probably utilize that given how hard it is to find good reliable labor. Profit sharing with employees who aren't risking anything is a bad deal.
No more visas
How about some fall protection dude.. Is that for cost savings too?
Love the content of this channel
We are very thankful that you love our videos slowrider30.😀 What other businesses would you like to see on the channel?
Why is his cap over his left ear?! 😂
I just love this video, amazing .
Can you give advice on alternates that can be used Cristian?
Any how Thanks for your time sorry to the ear. Like I said I like the houses, every one has their own touch and that’s what makes it unique. ✌️
I don’t think you put the right link for his website. I know it’s two years later, but it’s some company based out of Utah.
