I was recently at my annual doctor visit and I mentioned that my period had started coming more frequently and asked if that could mean I was in peri-menopause. My doctor simply said "menopause is when you have less periods." She didn't even acknowledge that I had asked about peri-menopause vs. menopause and I felt like she completely shut down the conversation. So thank you for making these videos because not everyone has access to a doctor knowledgable about this phase of life in their local area.

I had an ablation at 42 while I was bleeding very heavily. I had debilitating periods and would gush blood and clots. It was a complete success, and I never had a problem after that. Best decision I could have made for myself.

I’m in Houston as well and just visited my NP at HWCA today as I was concerned about frozen shoulder pains I’ve been having since April, bone/joint pains in my hips, legs, knees and hands, trouble sleeping due to my shoulder pains and/or being wide awake, ringing in ear, mild hot flashes, among a few other things. I was told that my hip/bone page could just be aging and I know it’s not! I’m 45 years old and because I still have monthly cycles, she said they can’t really do much until they see results from my bloodwork today. I’m on day 18 of my cycle so hopefully they will get a good reading of my levels. I had a meniscectomy in Nov of last year and all these things just happened over the course of 1.5 years! Despite my knee and shoulder pains, I’m still trying to make it to my gym at least 3x/wk to do resistance training and HIIT class. I’m going to call your office and get pricing information tomorrow because I’m looking at other options as I’m not too optimistic after today’s appt.

Great video Dr. Susan. Way too late for this 72.5 yo who went through about 14 years of hell from perimenopause but I’m glad it’s available for the kids!
Miss the doggie. Still love “our.”

I started symptoms at 38 and thought there was something seriously wrong. Hot flashes, night sweats so bad the sheets were wet, rapid weight gain, brain fog. Lots of tests and ultrasounds later, turns out it was perimenopause. I found one of your previous videos about a year ago that really resonated with me and inspired me to find a menopause specialist in my area to address this, because there was NO WAY IN HELL I was going to put up with that for another 15-20 years. I have been on Kariva (low dose birth control) for over a year and haven't had a hot flash since. The weight is still a struggle but I can do my workouts again because I am sleeping through the night! I can feel confident at work because I know I won't turn beet red and sweating every hour. Thank you for bringing this important topic to the forefront and letting so many women and people with female reproductive organs know we have options and we don't have to suffer through it.

I am almost 48 years old, few symptoms like joint pain, frozen shoulder, period is less and less, sometimes only traces when going to bathroom. I am on 100 mg progesterone every night and taking Mg helps, a bit, with the sleep. Sometimes lack of energy and saddens but not depression. I am not yet on estrogen, still manageable symptoms so I am waiting. And no hit flashes, more cold periods mostly at night. So I am not sweating but freezing 😅

Great video! Thank you. Is 0,025 estradiol and 100mg progesterone is ok at the age of 49 while I do not feel like estrogen dominant? No more heavy bleeding and breast tenderness. One skipped period. Thank you for your answer.

I had a menstruation or bleed in early June this year, and then an annual physical at the very end of July....I had been experiencing frequent daily and nightly hot flashes and poor sleep for about 4-5 months prior to my physical... Told my doctor, he did bloodwork to check my hormones, and his nurse later called and said the results were 'normal' -- how could that be??
I've not had another bleed since early June (and the bleed previous to June's had been way back in January!)
Should I call my doctor and ask for the hormone bloodwork to be redone, or just ask him to prescribe me the Pill to alleviate my daily (almost hourly, actually) hot flashes and insomnia?

Estrogen dominance (when progesterone decreases) - periods. too heavy, lack of consistency. High estrogen - water retention, breast tenderness, moodiness. Low estrogen - hot flashes etc. With such drastic changes, brain fog, memory loss, mood swings - almost a diff person! Dim by Thorne, 150mg/day. Or low dose birth control.

Can you take DIM and progesterone at the same time?

Can I take the low dose pill if I have had migraines with aura approx once per year? I’m 48 with lots of perimenopause symptoms that aren’t fully resolved with .1 estradiol patch, oral progesterone and testosterone cream. It sounds like the pill will help me more than HRT?

Is it possible to have perimenopausal symptoms while on combined pill? I'm 39 yo , have been on pill for 12 years , and started to expierence mood swings , low libido , nausea, brain fog, vaginal dryness , could it be perimenopause? When I spoke to my doctor she dismissed me saying I'm way too young

what would you reccomend if perimenopause, 46, vegeterian, single , and going through prolonged period.. currently at 7 weeks. Doc gave me medoxyprogesterone which has helped with most symptoms, less bleeding, but still there. He is recommending pill, but im worried bc all my symptoms are estrogen dominant, With the progesterone i sleep better, less chest tenderness, less ankle swelling .

Yes ! Progesterone has a lot of benefits other than uterine cancer prevention
