To be clear, the prices I mentioned are the lowest prices for the wheels, adding suede or leather bumps it up... I didn't actually realise this at the time of recording, apologies.
Also it seems the screen is capacitive so the lack of responsiveness that made me think it was resistive must be something else, CPU perhaps?!
Thanks for the great review Karl and yes, the wheels do come in different prices depending on the options you choose.
The screen is indeed capacitive but you are right in that it takes a bit of time for when you enter the setup and when you switch between the different layouts. This is because to enter setup the Display has to switch its wifi mode as well into Access Point mode so you can then conifgure it using your phone/tablet/pc. The other time consuming operation is the change of the layout from F1/GT and Rallye - thats because we basically have to dump the whole memory contents and rewrite it with the newly selected layout. But once thats done, flipping through the different layout screens, adjusting the screen brightness or LED Revbar brightness, all works speedy and as intended.
If this was simply a HDMI/USBC screen using Simhub, then this would be cheaper and easier to do but we made the PCB ourselves with an ESP32 chip so that it could work on consoles as well. No other display on the market can do that wirelessly.
All that said, we have also written our own Simhub plugin so you can map all functions onto buttons on your wheel/buttonbox/keyboard.
Just wanted to say @Karl Gosling thanks for the idea for the cork and 50p. I also did the same thing with my clutch pedal with a combination of 2p x cork x £2 coin. I also have the F1 Hamilton wheel and it really transforms my G 29's look and appearance. I too have the telemetry and did wonder why the response was so slow to touch. I found the cable too short so I purchased a metre one. 6 magnet shifter definitely better.

Had a corvette racing GT wheel made about 2 years ago by MVH. Absolutely worth every penny. Suede is still in great condition as well as all the other components.

I finally received my F1 wheel, got it installed today and have to admit it is an awesome mod, especially since I could only dream of getting Logitech's new DD offering.

I have one of the F1 wheels. I bought a Mercedes’ badge and hot glued it to the Center of the wheel, fits perfectly. They’re a pretty fantastic option to enhance the look of the wheel, for sure. Also can reccomend the magnetic panel shifter and progressive spring. All substantial upgrades for the G29!
how long did it take from when you ordered to when you got it?

What I did for my dash display is get a cheap 5 inch monitor off Amazon for about 40 quid and then mounted it to the front of my csl dd with a bit of plastic from a dvd case and a few screws. I use it with sim hub and it’s fantastic.

It's always nice to have more options, especially at a reasonable price point. Personally I couldn't get past investing more money into a Logitech product, it's served me well but I'd rather put the money into a new wheel. I say that when the DD Pro from Fanatec, pimped as the "affordable" option is close to a 1000 euros all in. It looks like the Redbull sticker is actually a decal and I suspect there maybe brand infringement to using it would be better left off anyway.
I have no regrets with mine. Went with a McLaren one, the stickers are still perfectly stuck down after months and months of use, and it adds an extra level of realism to our f1 nights. Considerable cheaper than any kind of upgrade over a g920 wheel

I highly recommend using an old mobile phone with simhub as a display. The battery started to bulge on my old mobile last year (non replaceable) so I performed some surgery to remove it and use that phone as a display. Just a usb c cable for power and connects via wifi.
Boosted media have a good tutorial on this, mounting is the only headache unless you have a 3d printer.
Yeah I used a tablet with Sim Dash in exactly the same way.
We need more companies like this in Ireland and UK
Just to clarify a point on the pricing, it varies by your choice of grip. For example, the GT Series wheel starts at £43 with the PLA grips but the one they sent you with the Suede grips jumps it up to £65.

Hi Karl! I have the same screen, and it is a capacitive one. Resistive screen has softer touch feeling, because of a foil on the front. The key for this display is a long press. Instead of quick taps, try to keep you finger on the desired point for a second. Anyway you don't need to use the touch too frequently, you can set up hotkeys for everything in the SimHub plugin. Ohh, and you should have showed all the different designs the display has. The rally style is my favourite! :)
All mvh screens are capacitive btw. You have to wait for the setup to enter...
@@808GT Oh really! Why was is it so horribly slow to respond, slow CPU? I see it did actually register my first input on the cog for setup but swapping between display layouts was terrible.
They just dropped an active shifter. looking forward to trying that out.

bought idk 8 months ago, no complaints at all.
Tried going back to the wheel, no way.
Karl first recommended the g29, never had any issues.

If you get the genuine leather grips, dont ever use armor-all on them.

I have the gt wheel and the triple magnetic set doesn’t fit the gt wheel as it rubs under full rotation, try it I got the lando wheel colours fantastic wheel and helps with steering input , muscle memory ect … ps great service from mvh
The display did register your touch in the first attempt. There is a message that immidiately appears with it 'entering setup, please wait'. So it was loading in the background while you tapped it 3 more times.
yep i just seen this last week i wanna get that lcd screen looked dope. probably printed with carbon fiber pla or something make it a lot stonger
Resistive screens work much better with a stylus. Wii U, Gameboy DS, HP pocket pc. Definitely yesterday's tech.
Hey Karl! I think it would be cool if you could compare this with the Acelith ones. They are not much more expensive, but made out of steel. Mvh is lighter and Acelith heavier than the G29, so that might affect performance in both cases. I see a challenge vs f-gt lite video 2.0 haha. Great video as always.
Shame they can’t put the screen into the f1 wheel. I have attached an old android phone to my g923 using a go pro mount and run sim hub.

I had that paddle shifter mod and had to take it down after few weeks. The strength of magnets require you to apply quite lot of force and I often "miss-shifted" in heated up situation because I only pulled the paddle enough to unstick it from the magnet but not engaging the microswitch thus not changing gear.

Great content as usual. Just dipping my toe into sim racing. Just got a Fanatec GT DD Pro with a McClaren GT3 wheel Just wonder what your recommended settings would be for ACC on PS5/series X. I know your more hardware based but some recommended settings videos would be a great addition

i must disagree on the quality of the prints from mvh studios. they are some of the best i have seen. have my own 3d printing company, so im not just disagreeing for the sake of it.
Quality rating on the Red Bull seems to be low, maybe the sticker peeling is the reason for an E / F rating?

I bought their F1 style wheel for the G920 and the magnetic paddle shifter. The shifter is pretty good. It is very noisy. Extremely disappointed in the wheel. The top right handle cover either came apart in shipping or was never glued, the left quickly fell off after as well. Then followed by the left retention piece that keeps that buttons attached to the wheel. Aside from the wheel falling apart almost immediately, the tolerances are weak. The button panels do not lay flat against the carbon fiber plate, (that is 1 or 2mm thick) and all four buttons feel entirely different from one another. Thankfully the return of this item was an easy process, but I was surprised the MVH Studios rep did not attempt to retain my business with a replacement. The actual wheel is comfortable to hold and is visually appealing even when just sitting on my desk. I would have kept it as a paper weight had I not spent $120 on it. I cannot recommend this modification unless their build quality and QC improves greatly.
Oh wow it really sounds like you got a bad one! I'm sure they are hand built so this is surprising.

I'm currently on a G923 myself and hoping to change and modify along the way. These wheels look like a great improvement but I'm also looking at Acelith wheels, could you maybe compare the two or tell me if you have any experience with the two?

@shredded yeat, I have the acelith L style(lambo)and the F27(mclaren 27 cm) for my g923 and the mvh F1 S and just ordered the mvh mclaren.
The acelith L style is so Nice, comfort, size (30 CM ) wise.
For me a size of 30 cm is the Best overall.
Mvh got Nice thick grips vs acelith, Also a plus When you Got big hands😂

Is there any advantage to using the gt3 wheel over the stock wheel ? Also for someone who plays both acc and dirt rally, is it better to stick to the stock wheel rim or get a gt3 mod ?
You need a round wheel for Dirt Rally so would be no use mate.

What do you think of the NLR F-GT, especially compared to the GT Omega or Playseat Evolution? (To be honest, I would probably settle for a Challenge, going off your review as Evo doesn't sound too much firmer when it comes to flexing and Challenge is much easier for my flat.) I'm looking to upgrade and have those three options right now.
I made the big mistake of buying the ADX seat almost two years ago as I was a bit excited to get started and your review wasn't out on it by then 🤦🏻♂️
It's ruining the experience for me.
Evo is poor, I've not used the NLR F-GT but the GT Omega Titan is a great cockpit for the money.... ADX oh dear! lol

Is the wheel wider than the standard Logitech wheel? I’d also like to point out that the option of suede leather is £70, still a reasonable price. Just don’t expect it to actually be £43, that’s the starting price for a basic one. I’m thinking of getting a McLaren Gt wheel from them.

I am thinking about buying a cockpit don't really know which one was either thinking the next level f-gt or the sim hound chassis but I wouldn't know where to get a decent but cheap seat from and help or advice would be appreciated
Can you put the stock wheel back on without doing a full reassembly? Like just undo the center screws and swap it out. I like to switch between open wheel road corse and oval stock cars.
You can but the buttons remain in the current position.

I had one, feel like the quality of the build wasn’t very high quality 3d print and the suede wasn’t great, as well the buttons weren’t very consistent and noticed a lot of the time they weren’t registering. Paddle shifter mod was great although there are better alternatives for the price. You are better saving the money towards a CSL DD or a TS-XW don’t fall into the trap of getting one of these cheap 3D printed wheels that don’t do anything.
The CSL DD costs around about 700 quid all in and this costs 50 quid so I don't think you have a valid point
