SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES
Once every eight years, the fantastic Witchlight Carnival touches down on your world, bringing joy to one settlement after the next. Its owners, Mister Witch and Mister Light, know how to put on a good show. But there’s more to this magical extravaganza than meets the eye!
The carnival is a gateway to a fantastic Feywild domain unlike anything found on the Material Plane. Time has not been kind to this realm, however, and dark days lie ahead unless someone can thwart the dastardly schemes of the Hourglass Coven.
The Wild Beyond the Witchlight™ takes adventurers from the Witchlight Carnival to Prismeer, a Feywild domain of delight, and is designed for characters of levels 1-8. This book comes with a poster map that shows the carnival on one side and Prismeer on the other.
• This is the first official Dungeons & Dragons® adventure set primarily in the Feywild, the Plane of Faerie.
• The Witchlight Carnival, which serves as the means by which the characters enter the Feywild, can be dropped easily into any campaign setting.
• Players can create characters using one of two new races presented in this adventure, faeries and the harengon (rabbit folk).
• Two new character backgrounds are included: the Feylost (for characters who grew up in the Feywild) and the Witchlight Hand (for characters who work at the Witchlight Carnival).
• All encounters in the adventure include a non-combat option, allowing players to think and roleplay their way through the adventure if they wish.
• The adventure features the return of Warduke, Strongheart, Kelek and other classic D&D characters from the 1980s.
For use with the fifth edition Player’s Handbook®, Monster Manual®, and Dungeon Master’s Guide®. - Ігри
Player: My kalastar bear totem barbarian is resistant to all types of damage.
Dm: take 10 points of custard damage
To be fair. the bear totem is resistant to custard damage too ;p
"While raging, you have resistance to all damage except psychic damage. The spirit of the bear makes you tough enough to stand up to any punishment."
If the DM can throw it at you and its not psychic then you have resistance ;p

Unrelated to the topic of this video, I'm so glad you're still doing this stuff, Todd. You're such a likable, well-spoken, informative member of this community. Appreciate'chya homie!
Okay, now we need a Shadowfell book. 😃
Yess Raven Queen gang rise up
Vecna please
@Forrest Taylor which one
@@snazzyfeathers Van Richtens. Ravenloft is part of the Shadowfell
@@jackdizzy123 I mean true but it doesn't capture the entirety of it you know? No shadar kai, no raven queen (as far as I know you don't meet her or anything like that) its more focused on Strahd than anything else
the way the 2 carnivals are linked, you can use VRGR & TWBW to make a massive Shadowfell meets the Feywild adventure!
Wait so we get a book in september, one in october and one in november? That's awesome
Plus a new DM's kit in August
@@samtheactualkenku6205 what kit?
@@LeBigsou they announce another DM Screen kit for August

@@chronowolf137B compared to most companies "nothing for eight months and then six product releases in the week before Gencon", this release schedule is a dream come true.
I wasn't sold on this book at first. Now I really want it. It seems whimsical and like I could run a game for mixed ages which would be amazing and I love being able to let my strange flag fly when roleplaying NPCs and this seems perfect for that.
Kelek in the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon episode he was in, had corrupted druid vibes. Where thorny vines would move out of his way as he walked through them (Land Stride in 5E) and had worg (I'm assuming, they were more intelligent than dire wolves) companions.
If anything else (I don't know much about the Strixhaven subclasses), he'd be a multiclass character in 5E if he had the powers he'd had in that episode.
Thanks for diving into the specifics on the carnival plot, excited to play this adventure! Great video!
I've already homebrewed a custard pie based cantrip of one of my campaigns so Custard Damage is something a sOOOOOOO need in my games as it will make that cantrip work so much better than it does in its current form.
I so love this!!!
@xXzeroDXx Roxy's Custard Pie. takes a bonus action to cast, currently does 1X D4 bludgeoning damage and blinds the target (Who has just been hit in the face with said pie) for one turn. used properly the cantrip is actually Soooooooo OP
Got this book a week ago. It is freaking amazing. Can’t wait to run this adventure.
This is why I am subscribed. Thanks for this info!
This is amazing, and the tie-in for the D&D cartoon is very welcome (by me at least). Watched that so much, and other old toons like Thundarr the Barbarian.
Thundarr! 👍🏻
lords of light! demon dogs!
If Warduke is in this I am 10000% on board!!
Also I recommend DMs do not limit what the through-line is to the carnival. There is no reason you can't allow all three paths. Is it harder to run? Absolutely, but you can meld them together.
Hey what 3 lines do you mean? The beginning with the quest and the lost things or what? I'm preparing the campaign right now so
@@MrColdwindowthrough-lines. He means the story hooks or plot hooks. I already plan to meld them together, we got a Harengon who has no sense of direction and a Feylost druid so far.
If I know Chris Perkins, and I don't, this is going to somehow be the never-aired finale to the 80s D&D cartoon.
Sorry, which light?
I see what you did there.
All I'm hearing is Heckna's Revelia from Hit Point Press
And that seems more interesting than this 🤷♂️
I know this is a really small thing but the audio being out is really throwing me. Thank you for the great insight though, really looking forward to the release!
Looks like this could be a fun adventure to play or run.
What i am despredly waiting for is something equivelant to the Pathfinder first edition "NPC Compendium" With all kinds of statlines for NPC´s, from townsfolk, to guards, to thiefsguild members and more. Plz give us a Humanoid focused Monster Manual! Pritty please!
Never really considered a need for this 🤔 mostly cuz almost every book gives at least a couple human stats you can shift and port over to other games
@@astridstarr2787 well, from a DM point of view is a book that is all about humanoid stattlines a real blessing and a treasuretrove for NPC´s generation. i have both books from pathfinder, the NPC handbook and the villans handbook and i used them all the time.
@@GirlPainting from my standpoint as a DM I’d never really had issues making NPCs with stats mostly because the commoner statblock and veteran stat block work for 90% of cases. After that it’s more or less just tweaking those. And for really big NPC giving them various class levels.
But for someone who doesn’t enjoy that I can see the value in it. I just think there are bigger things we need
@@astridstarr2787 i hate building npc profiles. i have enough to do with the story. just grabbing prebuild profiles just like from the monster manual is my prefered methode.
@@GirlPainting Ah I see. Makes sense. My party is too bonkers to pose a real threat with stock monsters and their stat blocks so I end up having to tweak everything anyways. Which is probably why just going “this I a commoner is woodcarvers tool proficiency and a 16 in the required that” or “this librarian is a 2nd level wizard” was never a huge issue for me.
Fellow Kelek fan. Can’t wait for the miniature
I can't wait for this. This is how I'm going to get my wife and daughter (8) to play more with me. Daughter has an Elf Druid (Twilight) with a Wand of Rainbows and a Unicorn friend. This is the world I think I can get her invested in long term, especially if she can be a Fairy. Then I can get my wife to join more as well. Short sessions. Baby steps. 🎲🧝🧚♀️🎠🎡🔮
soon they will be running games for you :D
@@Piemasta9000 Not my wife, but I already told my daughter she's a way better DM than me. We're in an encounter, and she starts moving the NPCs saying: then they do this, then this happens, then I do this... It was better than anything I would have come up with.
Your daughter's unicorn friend would definitely be an interesting encounter with Kelek the evil sorcerer.
I feel u bro, I'm in the same boat.
Warduke! Can't wait.
Uh so we can new vegas the entire adventure? Very nice
It's a nice change of pace if you've been playing in different modules that have a lot of stressful situations involving combat. I'm excited, could be lots of fun to try to silver tongue through a lot of it
@@snazzyfeathers I'm the DM actually, I'll have to explain to my players that they can do the entire thing socially instead of murderly but I wonder if they'll agree to it or even try to, they aren't murder hobos but they aren't really the ask first act later kind of group
@@LeBigsou explaining all that gives things away.. why spoil it?
SOILERS
1) Arrival in Hither should trigger con checks for exhaustion. 2) Perpetual twilight would produce sleep effects, possibly resulting in levels of exhaustion. 3) There is a fight where you can throw hot liquid sugar at someone, resulting in 1d4 fire damage. Hot liquid sugar would result on 3rd-degree burns. That damage can be raised to 6d6 logically. If you throw 20 quarts of hot liquid sugar on a halfling or gnome could ABSOLUTELY kill them, albeit slowly so can't go below 0.
Thank you Todd.
good to see back
I criticized the lack of fey for years. Hopefully they do a elemental plot next.
I really hope they expand on the concept of Domains of Delight as I can't find any info from older editions.
Hello sir, where might one find the old animated series to watch?
Sounds interesting
Some cool stuff coming out soon
I have been running this adventure and just noticed that the carnival is mapped like a 8 *whoosh myself*
The cartoon? Ironic. Back in 89'-90', It was because I made fun of that cartoon growing up that my DM decided to make Tiamat my Ranger/Monk's BBEG. I fought Her for multiple campaigns of over a decade. Its a great idea, playing with time in this way. My GF, in particular, is going to love this book. I'm sending this video her way. Thanks for sharing Mr. Kenreck!
How can you say EVERY encounter can be solved with non combat when Warduke is in the game?
I would know nothing about new D&D products if it was not for Todd
Love it
I want a Dungeons & Dragons Cartoon Campaign Guide!
i´m SOOOOO excited to play a fairy
Um, how exactly is an encounter with Warduke gonna have a non-combat option?
Lol
@@jackdizzy123 No, seriously, Warduke is a Chaotic Evil warrior type. One look at the guy is enough to tell he's gonna hack you to pieces if you cross him. How is an encounter with him gonna have a non-combat option; is some random fairy gonna pop out from a portal and tell the party to follow them?!
C'mon guys a little imagination!
He might be someone who's chasing you and you gotta find a way to lose him. He might have an important interest that aligns with yours. Maybe a spell was cast that prevents him from fighting for a time (like he's ethereal and can affect physical people). Maybe he knows something about you that makes him wanna keep you alive. So many options!
@@metatrix4251 I'm currently the only one questioning it; being that, let me assess those possibilities.
1) He's not gonna be able to be outrun on foot. You'd need teleport or find a way to increase your speed.
2) His only interest is self gain; and even you manage to buy his services, there are two things he can be counted on to do: 1. leave a trail of blood, death and destruction in his wake; and 2) betray you if a better opportunity presents itself.
3) I doubt it. If that were the case, player intervention would more than likely be necessary to fight him; that's just how Wizards has been doing there adventures
4) He's not very cunning. He's a brutish sell-sword who likes to let others do the brain work. He's currently a member of the League of Malevolence, the evil adventuring company advertised for this adventure. They are a collection of villains from the TSR days; and as such, are clear cut evil. The only reason he would keep them alive for that reason is if Kelek, the sorcerer leader of the league, order him to; but that's still not Warduke's line of work. He's being paid to slaughter people, not kidnap them.
In short, he's as treacherous and blood thirsty as any demon; he's drawn like a muscular, half-naked, half-armored, dreadhelmed, gladiator for a reason.
@@videogollumer Oh ok haha.
I see you are convinced that it is impossible. Do you think they gonna have a cheap idea just to give him an appearance?
Well, I'll know the answer soon enough =D
Are you going to start doing an actual play? I miss seeing you do those.
As cool as Kelek and Warduke are ( i mean I really want Wardukes official stats) I would much much much rather have Venger!
I have a campaign in a fey wild with a giant tree ent except mine is a clock tower not a tree house.
The only thing that interests me about this book is the D&D Iconic characters.
Who are warduke, strongheat, and kellik?
I really hope the Fairy race in in this sourcebook unchanged from the UA! 🧚🏻♂️
ok so we will probably see Isolde and Nepenthe.
....next.. eventually they have to release Spelljammer... eventually..
I'm still waiting on the promised Dark Sun setting.
No Owlfolk?
They are probably going to be in the Strixhaven book I think?
@@nomadking5749 yes they are. in the strixhaven setting the race are called Owlins and that's what the owlfolk's canon name has been confirmed as.
no don´t tell me it will have a VGR format that focusing on demi planes instead of the actually feywild! that not what folk have been asking for whats so ever, i really hop it dos not do the same mistakes like making archfey simpli having the stats of normal monsters in the MM and that type of Crap;
it's an adventure, not a sourcebook. calm down, use your brain.
C'mon man, action figures should be played with! Take him out of the box!
Yeah .
Knew this for weeks already .
I'm not really looking forward to this - dont get me wrong, it'll be very interresting, but I just cobbled together a working and intterresting Backgroundstory for a Character wh's born in the Feywild, I hop that won't fall apart completely by newly added lore...
Wait, wasn't the carnival in Ravenloft run by an actual angel? What happened with that?
Lip sync?
Ridiculous.
Lol this video didn’t age well
