    Great video!!! Just gone combo for my KIA Stinger 3.3TT, I'm thinking of not using the valves for now. I have a dual inlet catch can which works well -- so I'll give it a shot. Car only has 40K kms on it, maybe when it gets a bit older, if I notice anything suspicious, I'll add them in.

    Thanks for the explanation, I thought this piece has an influence on the sound of the valve, but no. It filters the air.

    • @CrazyCarMods

      No prob bro. What makes the difference is the star like insert the blow off valve has in the front. There are actually 3 pieces so you can change the sound if you like. One is the star like one insert that comes with the HKS BOV and then there is another 2 that makes different sounds.

    This is a great video bro, are you able to make a video on how an N54's Oil cap should be like when the engine is warmed up for a proper blowby video?

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods  2 роки тому +1

      Thanaks brother 💯
      There shouldn't be any major difference on the oil cap or any excessive air or pressure when the oil cap is opened. The video shows when there is some serious blow by issues. If anything similar to that can happen, there is a big chance it can be a bad pcv valve. Pcv valves if not change in the past, since our car are older those valve can go bad and create excessive pressure and damage gaskets or even the engine it self. Most of the times since we have as a common issue a valve cover leak or crack. When the valve cover is replaced so is the pcv valve since its already inserted in the valve cover. The piston rings can get worn out be cause of high miles and the cylinder it self can get scratch because of bad oil maintenance (which in turn the piston ring will not have a good seal).
      This scenarios can be the cause of a bad blow by. If you wanna maintain you engine at its best, do your oil changes on the regular bases and never wait to long. Oil has to be one of the most under looked things that can damage engines in the long run.

      If its slightly that seems to be normal.
      Actually, cars that are barely driven or shortly driven have issues because of this.
      When an engine does not get to operating temps, it does not allow for this vapors/humidity to be burned off; in the long run this will cause heavy carbon build up within the engine. So its normal if its just slightly.

    what are all the reasons a bov might change its sound over time? and is blow by one of them? i have blow by and am doing preventative maintenance but could blow by be a reason why my hks bov sounds different and i’ve only been running it a month and it’s brand new. i have a 335i with stock turbos

    Yeah I noticed my HKS bov only after about a week of driving has changed it’s noise, so I believe blow by might’ve drowned it a little. Would an OCC and a new PCV valve fix this?

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods  2 роки тому

      That's kinda odd. Blow by does affect the bov in the long run but I highly doubt it after a week. Having an oil catch definitely helps; not only by minimizing the oil residue to the bov but also to your valves.
      As far as the pcv valve, it works like a relieve valve so your engine (crankcase) don't work under pressure. Having high pressure within your engine is what damages gaskets (main reason our engines have issues with oil leaks) valve cover gasket, oil housing gasket, oil pan gasket, rear and main seal gasket. So a good working pcv valve is a most, so not a bad idea to upgrade to a good pcv valve. Although that would not have anything to do with the sound.
      What diameter are you using for your vacuum hose and where did you have it plugged in at?

    Hey I just Installed My HKS BOV with a VRSF chargepipe, I did everything correctly but for some reason my HKS BOV isn’t working, do you think it is a defective BOV or is there something else you think might be wrong. Maybe a vacuum leak?

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods  4 роки тому +2

      Did you get any check engine lights/codes? and did you make sure both gaskets where installed? the one in the charge pipe and the one in the BOV? Installing the bov it self can be a little hassle, specially when it comes to getting that c clip to seat correctly. Try pulling on the bov a little hard and see if it comes off. There is a high chance this is were the error may be. Check your vacuum line and your fittings. Make sure to push in the charge pipe to the throttle body to make sure it's all the way in correctly. Lastly how did you try to test it out? remember that the engine needs to create Boost first.

      Crazy Car Mods Crazy Car Mods i made sure everything was installed correctly the BOV has no play on it and is sitting properly on the charge pipe, I don’t have any codes either, I’m guessing it might be a faulty BOV, I did a few pulls on my car and I couldn’t hear the BOV at all

    Recommendation on when to change the inline filter?

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods  3 роки тому +1

      It truly depends on how much you drive and the condition of your engine and blow by it self. A regular intake air filter should be changed every 12k to 15k miles, so I would think that can be a good mark. What you can do is to check it periodically to see the condition of it. If its starting to look dirty then go ahead and change it, But if it still looks good then keep it a little longer.

    I have a similar set up as you but the issue with mine is the flapper valve does not have any clamp to secure onto the inlet hose, it is basically just pushed into the hose. Do you know what type of clamp I need to secure this? the oil catch can (out) J hose attaches to the flapper valve which concerns me if the connection is not fitted properly. 5:40 in the video is what I am reffering to.

      I don't remember the brand, but I got the Oil catch can on Amazon for around $48 and it was actually advertise as BMS oil catch can. But it's not from Burger Motorsports. It was a replica, exactly the same (I didn't see any difference) besides the brand name on the can. Do a search on Amazon. Mine has MCR or something like that on the hoses itself on white lettering. You'll notice when you search.

    Lots of catch cans only collect shit in high RPMs when the engine is working hard, or only collect in low RPMs. External PCV systems should be installed for high powered cars to completely avoid blow-by

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods  3 роки тому

      The pcv system work under normal or heavy load but It will actually close when full throttle, which is a big issue. I believe this is the actual problem we have with n54's. we all start tuning it for higher power and start pushing it harder yet the harder we push it the higher the crankcase pressure, which ultimately will create leaks. front / rear main seal, oil housing, oil pan, valve cover gasket. I dont know why the hell would someone design a system (pcv) to stay closed when the engine is pushed to the fullest?
      Guys with big turbos opt for a external pcv system because of this.
      If any of you guys have some additional input Please chip in....

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods  2 роки тому

      Yeah, it will be ok. You won't have any issues as far as functionality, your bov will work perfectly. But throughout time your bov internal parts would get oily because of "blow by", minimizing its life.

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods  3 роки тому

      The filter piece is to protect your blow off valve from oil. It is best to protect it, But if you don't care about that, you wouldn't notice a difference in performance at all with out the filter or with the filter.

    • @Cali4nium
      @Cali4nium 3 роки тому

      @@CrazyCarMods no it wasn't, just started acting up on the road at a stop light. I looked around for a vacuum leak and took those off first, since they were the easiest to diagnose. Once I took them off, the car idled normal again. Those filters didn't have any cracks and air was able to pass when I blew thru them..I think the air passage is too small causing restrictions. Blowing thru a hose with it connected did have air flow restrictions. A member from my grouphad issues with his as well but his actually broke, one of the reasons why I took them off first.

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods  3 роки тому

      Hmmm interesting. What car do you have bro? I heard some guys had issues just by putting installing the BOV. They actually kept the bov and instead of blowing to atmosphere they had it recirculating.
      Which it makes no sense to me 🤔
      I think the issue lays with the computer thinking it will get a certain amount of air back and it doesn't adjust for it or its to sensitive.
      By the way bro also what size of vacuum line are you running for your set up? And do you have 2 BOV's or one?

    • @Cali4nium
      @Cali4nium 3 роки тому +1

      @@CrazyCarMods 2 bovs. I have a q50 redsport. Running the bovs are fine and the rough idle has not returned after running it hard many times. Just recently another member with a tial bov kit, is having the same issue with the vaccum filters installed. breather hoses are 6mm ID, to the intake manifold and 3mm ID to the BOVs.

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods  3 роки тому +1

      With the tial bov it would make more sense that he is going through issues. The tial bov requires a 1/4 inch (6mm) inner diameter all around, and installing the filter can definitely have its restrictions since the tial bov works differently (spring operated) in comparison to the hks which is a sequential valve structure with a differential pressure control system.
      Also the line being 3mm may be causing a slight vacuum restriction. Since the HKS bov needs a ID any where from 4mm to 6mm.
      Even if you don't ran that filter, I would up that line in size. Best to go with a one piece of 6mm and run a oil catch can to lower the oil blow by. At least this way you can protect your inner air flow pieces from oil residue.
