This is all great and all but don’t let these numbers and mathematics distract you from the fact Wooly tried to finesse us out of that promised video about dirtiest places in his house
yup...you got me :( i recorded it and all that jazz, but i screwed up the agar plates and nothing happened. i mean, if you wanna see a clip of a sad shoe box with some plastic in it...idk...respect for the observation my guy!
"3D things look smaller than they actually are and this confuses people and stuff law" is about the most scientific word I have ever heard from a person who is probably not a scientist
Great vid! Once I saw a show which told that the trick to answer these type of questions is to have a large sample size and taking out the average. Don't know if it would work here tho.
yeah i feel like i saw that too! maybe on brain games or something...considering most people i asked said 69 im kinda doubtful hehe :) glad u liked the vid!
the main thing would be to work out the rough volume of one of them, and the volume of the jar, and how much of the jar you think is full and not air (50%-75% usually, more air the larger the item, so an m&m jar is like 75% items, and a jar of full sized apples would be closer to 50%). then just divide the total volume by the volume of a single apple, and then multiple by the amount of the jar you think is actually full of items. hope that helps :) lemme know how you go
@@WoolyCow ok there the lollipops not full caramel apples lol should have been specific specific thanks but this equation should work the same as long as I get the right info right. Thanks
Great vid, but the only question left now is how do I find the RPD of what I'm looking for? How do I know the RPD of an Eminem is 0.65, and why does 0.75 work better?
i googled 0.65, some peeps smarter than me worked it out :) but when i was fiddling around and testing it, i found that it tended to underestimate the amount by like 15% ish, so i upped it and 0.75 seems to work for most situations. hope that makes a bit of sense !
Wow 363, i guessed 323. pretty cool i was about 10% off. not bad. I did cheat a little by pauzing the video and counting the first layer in the jar. and then started making layers in my mind. guess i skipped 2 and a half layers
I got 360 but kinda cheated. I paused it on the moment he filled one full layer (i I think 13) and then estimated ow many layers were stacked on top of each other
This comes up at work functions, all the engineers snicker as they put their 'guess' in. There was a jar of jelly beans, in a very complex shaped jar with a sign that read: "How many beans are in the jar?" .... Can you tell me the Answer without seeing the jar?
why yes of course i can. i am, after all, telepathic. my guess would be around 1700, considering you have engineering friends it is likely quite a large amount, so i would assume this is a reasonable guess.
Same concept random packaging distribution for jelly beans then figure out length of jar using a similar method you would have to go and measure jelly beans for average size but I’m sure you can find that online
So once you have the width and the height, multiply them together and then multiply by 0.75. Then divide by the volume of the m&m (i forgot the exact value) hopefully that helps :)
@@WoolyCow sure did. there is a counting jar at work :D winner gets a convertable sports car for the weekend. Now just hoping it works and that i win on a sunny day.

the main thing would be to work out the rough volume of one of them, and the volume of the jar, and how much of the jar you think is full and not air (50%-75% usually, more air the larger the item, so an m&m jar is like 75% items, and a jar of full sized apples would be closer to 50%).
