Yeah when TG cut costs so much it's sad that even at their home base the lounge is sad looking! SQ I feel also sad that jsut becos of cost cutting took away the silver cutlery. It's to me really sad even our menu were such classy stuff and yet took away that too. I hate to admit our locals forget how tough it is to serve esp short haul flights and yet they keep calling for service. I always try my best not to disturb the FAs. Pls Singaporeans don't press the bell unless you really need to. Help yourselves if you can . It's tough for short flights becos I got friends who are FAs and really it's a nightmare for them to deliver the kind of SQ standards we are proud of. Thank you. it was good you had an upgrade to premium economy seat, to compare between the two. the food look delish and so did the Singapore Sling.. lol. shame you got a window seat with mainly the huge wing covering the views, but you could see some. I really love how you show us some of the interesting places in the country you have just landed. those lit up buildings looked awesome. thank you for the report... loved it.

Amazing review, Jayden! I was surprised that Premium Economy seats are not for sell between BKK and SIN, but glad you were upgraded to a good seat. I didn't know either the story behing the cocktail you had, so thanks for those little details. I think the food on board must have been really delicious because it was prepared in Thailand and food is fantastic there! It was so nostalgic to see Suvarnabhumi airport and makes me miss it. Gardens by the Bay are impressive at night and more agical; I only saw it by day and I was already impressed. Hotel reviews? I'm all for it! Keep the good work Jayden :)
yep not for sale, so if they suddenly throw in a long haul configured aircraft onto this route, frequent fliers are in for a treat :)

I used to really enjoy intra Asian flights, but it looks like there have been many cutbacks. The glory days of the 80s & 90s are long gone, alas. Lots of happy memories and humorous arguments of CX vs SQ among friends. Keep up the good work OWF.
Haha yes Anthony! The arguments about CX vs SQ still happens today within my circle of friends 🤣 While the service and hospitality are still present, the food and other soft products have definitely been cut…

Singapore Airlines are decent! I just landed on a flight from Singapore to London onboard their A380 4 hours ago!
Interesting that Singapore Airlines don't sell premium economy as a separate fare on BKK - SIN, but I suppose there are enough locally based passengers with FF status to fill that cabin. However, they do sell all three travel classes as a 5th freedom flight on the tail leg sectors Milan - Barcelona and Rome - Copenhagen. Would like to try one of those sometime.
Even in a box, the lunch service looked quite designer boutique. I was wondering whether the spoon and fork might be bamboo rather than wood, but maybe not.
I've always preferred the more intimate atmosphere of the Royal Orchid Lounge and even the TG domestic lounge, but as other people have mentioned the more recent TK lounge is also pretty good.

Probably due to the extra catering costs an extra dedicated cabin crew for the Premium Economy passengers didn’t justify the price increase over the cost of a standard economy seat. Flew that route in 2019, when they were still using the A330, which was a two cabin configuration ( Business & Economy).
normally they use a regional aircraft for this route that doesn't have premium economy. So if they roster a long haul aircraft onto this route they will upgrade some lucky economy guests to premium :)
Their intra-European flights come from Singapore so it's 100% a long haul aircraft :)
@@JaydenWong I did see on flight radar24 the were using the B787-9 last year(SIN-BKK) They also use that plane on SIN-PER flights, and they also used to fly the A330 to Perth.

From the video it seem true that the lounge is quite sad. However, The lounge @ D concourse is so great in my opinion. There are lots different from the concourse E lounge such as a view , food or seating(maybe because I haven't been to a concourse E lounge for a long time). So maybe next time u visiting BKK again make sure you check out there. Looking forward to see that vid Jayden!

That movie with the walking shark ripping that poor man in half (length-wise) is THE Suicide Squad, not to be confused with the 2016 cinematic cluster f*ck Suicide Squad. They basically screwed up Suicide Squad (2016) so bad, they decided to re-envision it to reflect a style closer to Zack Snyder and The Watchmen (more dark comedy rather than straight doom/gloom for over 2 hours).
Great review, although I was looking specifically for the reclining position as I may have to go with Prem Econ rather than Business from SIN to IAH in the future.
They also just revamped the awards chart, to which they increased the redemption required by about 12.6% across the board.
Hi Ryan! Thanks for explaining the difference between the Suicide Squad movies. I was very confused before LOL! And sorry that I didn’t show the recline! I tried to do it during boarding but the plane filled up quick. And flight was full and it would be annoying to others and awkward for me to recline than take videos of it haha

I’ve never been lucky enough to get a free upgrade but i still love Singapore airlines and am looking forward to flying with them again in October from Brisbane to Delhi. I made the mistake of flying with another airline once and my journey was awful. I’ll not make that mistake again!

SQ does not sell premium economy class on this flight. The agent simply relocate you to a premium economy class seat with economy class service. If you are non-status member, you can pre-purchase those PEY seats online...

As I know the A350-900 in SQ has three different configurations, last time I took from SIN-SZX just only 2 class-business and economy
This is what I experienced on my trip just before Jayden. One trip was VTL 20 passengers. The non VTL was 45-50% full. Yes just the two classes also on my flight.

Now I am left to wonder how far you have been? (Bahrain to Bangkok on Gulf Air?), & the latest upload of Bangkok to Singapore. I'd be really really interested to hear what you thought of the Hilton Garden Inn in Singapore please? I've thought of using it a few times now, but ended up at Conrad Centennial Singapore & InterContinental Singapore instead. Well done on the upgrade to Premium Economy with a Window seat!. You really should be a travel writer, your trip reports are just brilliant. I'm also sure that the Covid exemption in Bangkok & Singapore put your mind at rest, even if not pleasant catching it earlier. I really love flying with Singapore Airlines. I am planning the next trip now. I just need Japan to open up real soon. Thank again.

Not sure if you heard this, normal SQ PEY catering is no better than in economy as the main courses are mostly the same (just that there's a 3rd main course option and choice of bread, and option to do book the cook from selected cities). Took SQ PEY once and it's worth it for long haul, but not worth it for short and mid-haul. Glad you enjoyed the seat, and I guess the A350's one is slightly more comfy than the one on the A380 and B77W!
I’m very aware of that haha. Short haul is same same. Boarding pass shows economy too. On long haul sometimes one more main option and better presentation. But tbf business is the same sometimes. SQ have nasi lemak in both cabins. Thanks for watching!!

HiJayden, another good video. It’s good to see SQ using their A350 on the SIN-BKK route. I flew that route in 2019, when they were still using their A330’s , which were in the process of being phased out. I think they were only a two class layout.Singapore offered me an upgrade to business class between $270-$400 SGD, but I declined it. Enjoyed your stay in BKK? Are there any special requirements for flying into Thailand (besides a negative Covid test)?
oh wow I would decline the upgrade offer too haha. SQ A330s are gone for good now so all business seats (except for the ones from old silk air) should be the new ones.
Yea BKK was good but entry a bit of a hassle if you test positive 😂 For now you’ll need a Thai Pass and book a test and go package with an eligible hotel (car ride to hotel, PCR test). Test and go should drop from May 1

You should try Business Class at the 737-8. For me thats best product on a single aisle plane for short haul
I only had about 15 mins for the lounge so I didn’t have time for the main lounge :)

OP it is understood that you are a paid advertiser for the Singapore airline you have done a fair job in promoting the said air carrier perhaps you could do a podcast for KLM which flies all over the world including SIN viewer have flown with KLM on different classes to various destinations for years reckon to say their service is top notch fare is competitive and could easily be 15 20% less than that of Singapore airline from the time passengers arrive to the ticket counter until debarkation of the plane all the process are smooth like silk if you are the couple flying within the same class of separation they would automatically rearrange the seating to your satisfaction cabin stewards are friendly and 100% professional Punctuation is the Key Just like the pilot says------- another on time arrival

Jayden, u should totally try SQ to Davao. They just launched on April Fool's Day, but trust me, it's true. They relaunched the SG-DVO-CEB route which was operated by the deceased SilkAir.
So if it was previously with silk air, then all those flights will be on ex-silk air planes ( B737 or A321) which have been rebranded as SIA. So they will all be on narrow body planes.

The meals aren't served like other premium economy class were business class style meals are served you only get economy class meals
Oh short haul flight, it’s the same as economy
This might have been asked, but how is the wing obstruction? From the seat map, the premium economy seats are about above the plane wings. Wouldn't this sort of block a log of the view at the window seat? I know being on the wing or more forward of the plan it's a bit quieter. Just don't like that it has block views for the price. Also, the foot rest didn't seem to help much for you (it nearly touch your legs). Did this help?
Hi there, yes sadly for a lot of single deck aircraft, premium economy happens to be right above the wing.
I usually don't use the footrest because my feet would then be touching the seat in front. I only use it if there is more space (or legroom) between my seat and the one in front

Fantastic the way Singapore Airlines keeps the Premium Economy seats on these flights to reward status/ FF passengers, that shows an appreciation for your loyalty and lm all about that. Note to self to pack reusable plastic cutlery lm one of those weirdos that cannot touch wooden cutlery or ice cream wooden sticks no idea why. I like the seat although it could be interesting for my Miss Teen that's a Giraffe (184cm) for me though not an issue. You captured those storms perfect timing, that was so cool thanks for keeping that footage in. Ummm $45 for Shake Shack 😫hope that the burgers are worth it. 👍

Nice trip report, hoping to visit Singapore soon. In the past, when I visit Hong Kong, I always visit the Shake Shack at IFC Mall, mainly because of the views of Victoria Harbor. Do you have any tips on making trip reports?
HAHAHA YES love the shake shack at ifc, always soo busy though. For tips, just keep trying! Be patient, don’t be afraid to retake a bad shot

We were unlucky when coming back to Adelaide from Bangkok through Singapore in early 2020, had booked our flights to allow a few hours at Changi airport to check out Jewel. However, our plane had been delayed a few hours (we saw another SIA plane land and takeoff haha, also spending so much time at Suvarnabhumi with little AC really gets boring after a while). Apparently some delay in the Phillipines due to volcano or something like that. We literally had to run to catch our flight back to Adelaide at Singapore.
