- G’DAY OWFsquad, welcome to my 36th flight in 2019! On 26th July, I flew Singapore Airlines from Hong Kong to Singapore, the aircraft was operated by a new A380. Singapore Airlines fly seven times daily from Singapore to Hong Kong with one that goes onwards to San Francisco. Singapore Airlines also utilise a variety of aircraft on this route including the A350-900, A380 and B787-10. Cathay Pacific fly nine times daily with a variety of aircraft types including the A350-1000 and B777-300. One of the daily flights go via Bangkok. Jetstar Asia and Scoot also fly between the cities.

Well, hopefully it’s not a trend, and thanks for asking. There’s been numerous comments using inappropriate and hurtful language labelling the passengers in the cabin I was in. UA-cam has removed some themselves, and I have removed more and will continue do so.

Very good of you to not identify the grumpy crew. You never know what rude customer she just endured or private matter she had to deal with. Some vloggers live off having crew run ins which is petty and unfair. Thanks again for your great videos.

I’ve flown on this very flight and it’s the best way to experience an A380. The new cabin looks very good too! I like the SQ cabin crew and I’ll never forget someone saying “they don’t walk the cabin they glide through..”. Lol

Height of bad manners..not even looking at the crew member ( who's not his bloody personal servant..just doing his job poor chap).. and scowling and shaking his head.. shameful..
I have only flown a 380 from London to Singapore. The crew were great .I had a chat with them during the quite times. Back in my seat I was handed a note signed by the crew thanking me for flying with them. They also gave me two pack of playing cards. great airline.

I had great experience with this airline and plane. I was on a 13 hour flight from SIA to LHR and it was great. The amenities can be easily accessed by anyone in the toilet (but you have to ask for the eyeshades) . Unexpectedly I believe a crew member saw me filming the cabin and they gave me some headphones that aren't given out in economy but premium economy 🤯 I love this airline

Lovely flight, glad you blocked out the not so friendly CC, everyone has a bad done at work and we don't know what was going on in her life so no need to expose her. What a packed flight, the CC certainly kept busy on this route. Why does Hagen Daaz always taste better at 30,000ft? When l buy it at Coles never tastes the same. Thanks for sharing 👍
Yep a totally packed a380 this was! No idea why ice cream tastes better on a plane, Google shows nothing much about it too. But it just does haha!! I would love to try sundaes onboard US carriers one day!

I flew on the old A380 - Heathrow- Sydney and back- in October 2017. The one that had the wired remote for the entertainment screen. I was very pleased and enjoyed all four flights.
I am returning in February 2020 and will be flying on this 800 model.
Looks like a great improvement on the previous one. After watching your report. I am getting excited and really looking forward to it. Singapore Airlines are great to fly on long haul flights. I found all the flight attendants very friendly last time.

Indeed great improvement, old one was good enough but why say no to a new seat. The only thing with the new seat is that there’s no footrest but other than that it’s perfect.

I dont think that grumpy crew was grumpy. she had to control her passengers in order to complete the service for everyone in the area. if not, she may not be able to serve everyone with their choice. some passengers are very demanding, as if he/she is the king/queen. some crew are used to these passengers, some aren't yet used to them. I understand her position and understand why you feel she seemed grumpy. but the service that needs to be completed and the flight time can be very challenging, especially with demanding passengers.
Thanks a lot for watching! I agree some of the passengers were hard to deal with, but the crew have to deal with it and get used to it, her negative attitude can be easily passed onto other passengers. If other crew members can maintain positive attitude throughout the flight, she could've too. Again, not entirely her fault, but she could've done a better job :)

lovely review, as always. I flew SQ861 in economy last month and it was great. 3 hours before boarding, I checked my SQ app to manage my boarding pass and try to change my seat and lucky I got front row for free, and surprised it was empty row, I have it all.
Yeah SQ is one of the airlines struggling with the protests in Hk. My Qantas flight yesterday was 100% full! Thanks for watching!

Great review! Looks like the SQ product is excellent. It’s certainly a concern to see a crew member being rude, but then again, there could be an array of reasons for that. I reckon flying excessively can be tiresome and perhaps could cause a crew member to be tired. After all, SIN-HKG is a turnaround too. But that being said the rest of the flight looks excellent. The treat of ice cream is amazing!

That FA that you covered is the real face of Singaporean. Everytime i go to Singapore, some of them acted same way... So no surprise at all..

i dont think the crew memeber was that rude, to be fair Indian passengers are extremely hard to deal with and also control even when youre trying to just do your job. it's an issue for lot of airlines. specially Emirates, id say singapore airlines is the same.

I’m always also visiting HongKong :) one thing to add about Indian passengers, it’s not racism I am speaking about it’s just when different cultures collide and I do understand where you’re coming from, as a crew member myself she did seem like she Didnt want to be there. The majority of Singapore girl (crew) are lovely

I really enjoyed your video. You were flying my favourite airline, too, and I always like watching flight reports of Singapore Airlines. In late December I am flying to Tokyo, but unfortunately not with Singapore Airlines. It is with Cathay, an airline I have not flown in a while. It should be interesting to see the comparisons. If you are seriously concerned about the way the flight attended treated you, you should let SQ know, giving them your flight details, seat number etc, I did something similar and actually heard back from SQ about it, too, so my concern was acknowledged. I thought that was impressive. They really are a very good airline.

It’s a real possibility flying Singapore to Kuala Lumpur from London . Emirates economy is my wife’s preference but I’ll try to convince her to try Singapore airlines as I like to see other products

I have flown quite a few sectors with SQ since 2015, and only encountered two FA that I was unimpressed with. One was on a flight where there was an issue with perhaps the tray table or something, in sin aisle exit seat. The FA said ‘ that’s the way it is’ which I thought was pretty slack. It. Clearly wasn’t. Also, I recently used my points to upgrade from PE to Business on one sector, from HND to SIN. The FA in my cabin could not quite deal with me speaking Japanese with her, and as a result, I think I missed out on a classic SQ Business Class total experience.
Always look forward to thursdays to watch your videos 😊 never flown by Singapore airlines but would love to one day!

Its been over two years since I flew a Singapore A380 PVG-SIN. The cabin looks quite nice and economy appears relatively spacious. I will say though, the only time I have had a rude flight attendant, was on Singapore Airlines.... I suppose we all have bad day's, but in his role...hmm. Great job and I love the close up shots of the wing! Super crisp image! Cheers.

Actually every airline knows how to store ice-cream onboard. But it takes an innate effort by the crew in ensuring the right amount of time to thaw the ice cream. This effort, many other airlines don't wish to pursue Coz not every airlines are as passionate.

Good evening from the UK Jayden. I'm sooo jealous of flying on that plane. I had 4 flights on an A380 (MA and Qatar) and loved every minute. I'm still chuckling about your mild outrage at being given a kiddie's toy :) Such a pity that SA is following the herd with litter left in pockets and a dirty tray table mirror. Passengers really need to start bringing this to the attention of the airline managements (not by social media) ... after all, if there is dirt that you can see, there will be a lot more bacteria that you can't. Good Review !!! Great cattle class. When was this ???? There are ride FAs in cattle class. One guy ( probably an Indian on the middle section, next to the aisle ) actually joked about throwing beer in your face. He spoke Hindi.

I also flew the very back row of Singapore Airlines economy on the A380. It was great because you could recline as far as you could (it was just space behind the seat) and the toilets are just behind you

Also even try the Singapore Airlines a330 economy class and Philippine Airlines a330 business class as well (MNL to ICN, NRT, HND, KIX, AKL, SYD, MEL, SIN, BKK or HKG). These are the routes that they use if the PAL A330 with IFE

Good morning from the US, Jayden. This is Guerry, and thank-you so much for your Singapore Airlines flight review from Hong Kong to Singapore. I always find it gratifying when I can leave you a comment before you have 100 or more, and I become lost in a sea of statements. My usual habit after viewing your video is to read substantive comments from others that go beyond the one-line, “Great video!”. Of those I read, each defended the rude hostess by stating how difficult it is to work with Indians. Unfortunately, I do not know all the details regarding the young lady to have an opinion. Although I have not had a lot of contact with Indians, those whom I have known seem to be intimidated by me for some reason. Thus, I have never had a problem with them. Maybe I could give lessons (JUST KIDDING).
By the way, please forgive me for any typos. I’m trying to write this comment and post it before your post is again overwhelmed by comments from others.
As far as your flight went, I am always impressed with the cleanliness of Hong Kong Airport and especially the lounge. I may have not mentioned it on an earlier post of yours, but every time you show the buffet, it is so well maintained. There is no food spillage and it seems as if they routinely replace serving utensils with clean ones. I understand how you might have not been all that impressed, especially with the number of showers they had. But I only have the limited experience with airport lounges, and those in the US have not been all that impressive to me.
I might be a bit critical when it comes to my evaluations about Singapore Airlines. However, it is rated with 5 stars, so I expect all aspects of it to be exemplary. It is unfortunate that the cleaning crew overlooked the tissue someone left, but other than that, your seat appeared to have been very well cleaned. Even the mirror and small gaps did not have crumbs or dirt, although I could detect smudges on the mirror. Even though you said your seat was comfortable, I think it should have been much more plush. However, the inflight entertainment system did look to be state of the art with a larger than normal variety of entertainment. I also liked the flight map a great deal. As Singapore Airlines issues the small earphones, I would probably bring my own on board, since those small ones keep falling out of my ears.
Unfortunately, the lavatory was not up to my standards when it came to neatness. I do not know how far into the flight you visited it, but I tend to put the blame on the passengers, to include the reason for the broken perfume bottle. I guess that is a sign of the times and people are no longer taught good hygiene habits.
Your dinner appeared small but its presentation was very nice. It even looked delicious. I was especially intrigued with the coleslaw and smoked chicken. That looked very appetizing to me. However, I keep having to remind myself to bring some small containers with different condiments, since they never seem to have enough served with the meal (especially when it comes to butter and salad dressing).
Overall, you seemed to have had a very nice flight. I just wish I was not as tall as I am, because the economy seat pitch would leave me cramped.
As a side note, I could not help but notice that huge cable car assembly on the hillside as you lifted off the runway. As I am incredibly curious, I had to discover what it was all about. Have you ever ridden the Ngong Ping 360 to the top and visited the Tian Tan Buddha? I took a look at it on Google Maps, and it all looks very impressive.

Hi Guerry! The passengers were indeed not easy to deal with, but their negative attitudes can be easily passed onto other passengers. In my opinion, it's not a good excuse to be rude and no smiling.
Yes you are right, I never really paid attention to the neatness of the lounge, and I'm glad that I never have to worry about them!!
Overall, the plane was very clean, no crumbs on the carpet👌🏻They just missed the seat pocket!
It was a really delightful meal! The chicken coleslaw was indeed good too, I also loved the laksa in Singapore! I just showed my mum the video and she wants to visit that lounge next time she flies!

Thanks for sharing another enjoyable trip report with us Jayden. Overall this appears to have been a very good experience aside from the one flight attendant. I like the new economy cabin and am impressed that SQ hasn`t gone the way of many carriers and reduced the seat width and pitch. 19in seat width and 32in pitch is very decent by today`s standards.

Great trip report. This looks like an awesome flight. You say the first flight attendant was a bit rude ... but you didn’t really explain in what way was she rude? 🤔
No smile, and you can see that instead of saying Hello sir or madam, she waved at the passengers... We did have some poorly behaved passengers onboard, but if other crew members were able to maintain their positive attitudes I'm sure that crew could've too. Thanks for watching :D

Enjoy it while you can. I reckon that the majority of these currently in service will be sent for scrap within 5 years. They were a disaster in terms of sales to world airlines, and production ceased a couple of years ago. most carriers are moving towards twin engined aircraft now.
Hii are those complimentary earphones allowed to be brought off the flight or must it be returned back to the flight crew after the flight? What about the cutleries too? Would really await an answer! Thanks for the entertaining trip report :)
Yep earphones are disposable I believe. For cutleries, short answer is no as they’ll clean it and reuse. But you won’t get into trouble for taking them home :)
