  • I've recently come back from an amazing trip to Singapore. It was my first time flying with Singapore Airlines and I was very impressed with everything - the crew, the service, the food, the planes and the fact that you get a 30kg baggage allowance even in economy. I'd booked economy tickets with Singapore Airlines, but on the way out from London to Singapore I was REALLY LUCKY to get upgraded to Premium Economy. On the way back from Singapore I wasn't so lucky and flew back economy class. This Trip Report offers an inside look, review and comparison of the two classes - Premium Economy v Economy - and looks at what each one offers to help you make a decision what to book. London to Singapore is a LONG journey - the return took 13 hours - so you want to be comfortable. This video review looks at the seats, the space, the seat recline, legroom, the amenities, the entertainment, the food, the drinks, the snacks - they offer particularly great and even HEALTHY snacks actually. Great crisps and even fresh bananas and pot noodles. They also served fabulous ice-cream with lunch on the way out. And in Premium Economy you even get proper champagne, not some cheap sparkling wine alternative. My outbound flight was on an Airbus A380 and my return flight was on a Boeing 777, so it's not exactly like for like, but the service is the same on both. It's only the economy seat configuration that's different in the Boeing. You'll notice how exhausted I am at the end of the video, it's not just from the long flight but also from an amazing, but hectic trip abroad! I actually think that Singapore Airlines is a VERY good airline and was very happy with it, even in economy.

It’s hard to find a video where the seat is actually shown and spoken. Perfect balance between spoken review and music footage. Keep up the good work, thank you!

Thank you so much for your video, it was incredibly helpful. I booked premium economy and was surprised at how much more expensive it is … but you’ve reassured me that it will be worth it as I’m very tall!

If you're very tall and with long legs then you will definitely be grateful for that extra room. flights are SO expensive at the moment - it's painful...hope you have a fabulous trip....

Thanks for the upload. This was really useful for us, we’ve just booked Premium Economy on the A380 for the same journey, were the seats you had the ones that had the toilets behind you ? I just wondered if you were disturbed by people going in and out and flushing ? We can’t decide between the extra legroom at the front or those at the back. Thanks

We did have the toilets behind us, but it didn't disturb at all. I actually think these two seats had more space than any others in Premium Economy with lots of space behind and around our seats as shown in the video. I would pick these ones again! Though I didn't try the ones at the front with extra legroom so can't say...but my husband has long legs and was very happy with his seat next to me. the choice is yours...

I'm not sure how I missed your comment! Actually I am - I have been super busy and haven't had time to respond to any comments until now. Also, I got Covid (for the 4th time - must be all the travel I do!) and the fatigue that ensued was awful. Took me 5 weeks to feel 'normal' again!!

I really don't know Dean - my name just got called over the loudspeaker about 5 minutes before boarding commenced. It felt like winning the lottery!!

Wow! Those economy seats are tight! I am 5 ft 7 and I travel with my sister who is 5 ft 10. That would be a real squeeze.

I know - although I'm not sure how much tighter that is compared to any other airline's economy. I do think the Boeing 777 is tighter than the airbus....that guy on my right didn't complain all flight and his knees were right up against the seat in front!!

A few months ago I flew from Sydney to Dubai with Emirates on a 777 . The seating looks comparable , and certainly Singapore Airlines offered no less leg room in their economy product . The 777 is very tight in a 3-4-3 configuration , much less room than a A380 , however , that’s become the industry standard . I’m only 5ft 7” tall and my wife is just 5’ tall , so legroom for us is usually never a problem , even on Ryanair 😂😂. Looking forward to your Singapore videos , the “ Lion City “ Is a wonderful destination ..happy travelling 🫡🫡🫡
