      @@heyitsagoodlife I have no idea what that Bethany is talking about, lol, I heard every word loud and clear and I really enjoyed your edits, beautiful shot of the sun through the leaves. Overall, this is a really cool topic, but I would like to say that your smile is gorgeous and your love of nature is wonderful and ignites the spark of love in others and I really appreciate what all of you do. As far as what I would like to see more of if your interested in knowing, I would really like to know more about what plants have what effects on the soil and what kind of rotations of crops are capable of being sustainable for regenerative agriculture over yearly cycles. I would also love to know each individual ingredient that goes into the compost from the start of exactly what gets thrown in the floor to the end when It is fully prepared to go into the garden for growing, and how long the stages of composting generally take and what it should look like at each stage, because sadly, I have never grown anything. I live in the city, so stuff that may seem obvious to someone who has had a garden is foreign to me. lol. I'm sure I can find all this around the web, but I thought I would let you know what I was really hoping to discover on my journey into regenerative farming. I would love to know how an ecosystem of different plants works together in order to help fight against bugs naturally and different tree barks with oils that work as natural repellent that are safe for scattering across the garden and or inserting into the compost. What plants add to those goals and also help attract the pollinators. Again, I loved the video, I would love to see a sudden demand for small farming and a shift to more community driven goods and services that can replace the monopolistic corporate overlords that just till and spray and ship, oil oil oil. Or to help replace the overstuffed coupes of a million chickens in a warehouse. I can't wait to learn and create my own sustainable environments that provide not just for my diet but for the animals and nature as well. Thanks for the ideas. Much love.

      @@heyitsagoodlife Glad you learned to NOT "enhance-worsen" your intro or the whole video with unnecessary "film music". It is sensory overload, indeed, there seems to be a generational gap (for the most part) who is able to filter out the unnecessary sounds and who can't.
      Brains after the 1970s process information differently (things in the work place speeded up, different requirements, the advent of "multi tasking", children watched more TV, video games, etc). and now there is the digital age with a lot of switching back and forth of attention, and (attempted) multitasking.
      People also seem to be more and more unable to stand _silence_ and filling up every time slot with sound when they are not super engaged mentally, spills over to the habit to add background music even to low level productions or all daily activities. Silence is not bearable and a person "just talking about something interesting" (hopefully interesting) is also not enough anymore.
      Filtering out information while not getting too hung up / engaged with the background sound is also a form of multitasking.
      Our brain is NOT made to do that, when he have to think harder or learning new things, even if people think they pull it off, that does not stand the scrutiny of scientific testing. Even now in the digitial type not every (young) person can deal with sensory overload.
      Seems to be that many content creators think that adding music (often quite random music) is something you have to do, "everyone does it" etc. It is O.K. if you do a cut, or show an area w/o spoken information.
      Nope - if you have content = information to be absorbed it does not need any "embellishment".
      the movie industry uses film music very deliberately to enhance the emotions and experience of the audience, if they have a decent budget they have a "score" for main characters or scenes (motives), they prepare the audience if things take a good or bad turn etc.
      Documentaries also use music but if they are well produced they take it easy and usually they do NOT use music while information is given. See professional productions of National geographic, BBC, PBS, ...
      No music is needed in a good content rich, informative amateur video.
      One can see already that they do not get it right in cheaply produced "professional" documentaries. On the other hand good film music does enhace the experience - but then this is about emotions not information. Think the score of "Dances with wolves" or "The Last Mohican" or "Lagaan".
      The production quality of your videos looks really good, (and thankfully you also have a nice voice to listen to, no voice fry).
      this is the first video I saw of your channel, and of course you got an interesting market gardener as subject. Steven is an information junkie and you can be sure he tested the things he talked about, so that is why I am going to watch his older videos.
      No embellishment needed for sure.

    Hey neighbor!
    Back in 2019 I set out to buy a plot with a house and 5+/- acres. But my big idea at the time was to build a backyard haunted attraction. I also needed a house to live in as I was playing music and was done with apartment life. I’ve dedicated my effort to herbalism and raising goats instead. Best decision. Infinitely rewarding. Whereabouts in TN? I’m in Marshall County.

    Thank you for these videos!!! it's deffanitly an encouragement. I was hoping to start a backyard garden and chickens when we moved into our new home. After putting in a lot of work I found I had a major flooding issue during the rainy season! The water from my neighbors lawns ran into mine and pooled all over my lawn killing my first years garden. This year I'm trying to figure out how to collect what I can, hold as much as can be expected in one location of my lawn, and move the rest of the water along so it doesn't kill off my vegetables. I was frustrated at all the work I'm doing and about to give up when your video popped up in my feed, just when I needed it! Thank you!

    • @heyitsagoodlife
      @heyitsagoodlife  3 роки тому +1

      I’m so glad!! What a nightmare with the flooding. Have you looked into hugelkultur at all? Perhaps creating some hugelkultur beds around the perimeter would help? And lots of wood chips as well, maybe? Good luck!! Don’t give up :)

    • @donnkasten4111
      @donnkasten4111 3 роки тому

      @@heyitsagoodlife I love composted wood chips I've made some beautiful Raised mound beds with it. Part of my problem is the back lawn is very uneven, hard clay. I tried just filling the low spots and leveling with topsoil. When we hit the rainy season Those spots fill with water and basically became puddles. Not only does it rain a lot, but water also drains from my neighbor to the norths lawn into my own.
      This year I'm actually digging out the high spots, and running a couple of trenches to move the water away from the house (It's been within feet of my house but hasn't come in yet. I was planning on doing a dry bed toward the street drain,
      DON"Tgoing to look into one instead of the dry bed to see how much more water I can capture.

    Thank you so much for sharing this, this can really help people who have small space make it possible! God is amazing he designed this planet for us to be sustainable, somehow along the way it all got distorted! Now people are wanting to go back to way it should be. I will add him to my friends list. Wendy❤️🐞

      @@heyitsagoodlife I was spolied with the machines when I worked at Starbucks. The espresso is great but I still don't love how long it takes to steam the milk. I've gotten better with it but... I still mess it up some days by being too impatient.
