Terrible situation that’s being allowed to happen , the death rate and age expectancy of these people would be horrific if studied properly, it’s a plan of someone’s to blatantly thin our numbers , it’s brutal that people in charge are allowing this to unfold .

I used to go shopping on Hastings in late 80s early 90s, I moved to kits from Europe and I bought all my stuff at army and navy, I loved that area so much. Now, I watch my good memories through this video and feel extremely saddened by it and by what our government hasn’t done anything that they promised many times over. 😢

This is sad to read. I heard about how rough East side was as a kid and I grew up in Texas. My uncle who lives in Vancouver told me it has been a rough area well before the 80’s, however it definitely hit a hard decline appears to have reached a beyond crisis point by the late-90s. From what I understand, it followed the same trajectory as Skid Row in LA and moved from primarily alcoholism in the earlier years to harder drugs and it didn’t help that they closed down mental health institutions like they did in the US. It’s just sad. I can’t imagine what it’s like to have seen it close up in comparison.

@@sarbantz Get real. If you offered love but no money, food, or drugs then they'd probably smack you in the face when they realize you're offering the one thing they don't want. This wretched state of affairs in Vancouver, San Francisco, etc. is entirely self-imposed and the result of foolish "progressives" who don't understand that open drug use, homeless encampments, etc. are antisocial behaviors that need to be aggressively forbidden. The ultimate effect of Vancouver's supposedly well-intentioned permissiveness is to encourage more and more lowlifes to set up camp there.

These are street scenes in the DTES --- the Downtown East Side in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
These shots were taken in 2023, as the fentanyl crisis was building up. The DTES has had a drug problem for a long time, and BC has tried to implement a 'harm reduction' strategy to deal with it. They tried to reduce the number of drug deaths by having safe injection sites (Google: Supervised Consumption Service at Insite) and in 2023 BC asked Ottawa to 'decriminalize' parts of federal anti-drug legislation as part of a 3-year pilot project to make it easier for addicts to get medical treatment without social stigma.
However BC discovered addicts didn't go for treatment, but just shot up on the sidewalk, as you see here.
BC's 3-year 'decriminalization' pilot project was a complete failure, and in April 2024 BC asked Ottawa to reinstate it's anti-drug legislation after just 6 months.

Perhaps it is with intention our Canadian society brings about this culling process. Trillions of dollars at stake for the care and maintenance expense of a large percentage of people demanding to be a liability oppose to an asset to the scheme of the system. All done without the expense of war.
Without the healthy and happy labour force being spent as cannon fodder.
Leaving less able-bodied profit producing assets.
No one knows why because our system doesn't see it necessary to substantiate their reasoning and or methods to Canadians...though it is said that they are representing the people . roflmao.

There is a way to fix this but the government and law enforcement have to work together to fix it. In the old days they had road camps for people who committed small infarctions of the law. The law breakers were picked up and taken to these road camps time and again until most come out of it some still die at it but most are helped back into society.
Out side of the cities they use to have like Army barracks to sleep in and get out of the weather. They were detained on small infractions even for jay walking, drug abuse, vagrancy, drunk disturbing the peace, etc and placed them into these places for any where from 4 months to a year .The inmates then were forced to grow gardens for the kitchen and raise cows and goats for their milk and chickens for food. Others who behaved their selves were allowed to get out on work furloe's to come back at night and pay a bigger portion of their wages unto the detention center to help cover the costs.
Some of the people who could would be taken out in groups of 11 or so and had to clean the road sides and other meaningful chores until time served. It worked.
There has always been this kind of homelessness back in the 1940's through the 1970's they were gathered up as ordinary law breakers. It worked because people get clean and start seeing a better way and the government care centers would help them to get jobs even jobs invented by the government for this cause. All worked eventually or go back to road camp no drugs allowed.
The cost is not as bad or much as you would think. Right now the government officials are only looking after self if they would just implement this, things would change to the good like before.

I just arrived from there. I tried as much as I could to avoid these areas, but it was difficult. It's a pity more is not done by the city to resolve this problem. Homelessness is a crucial part of all cities and these need to include it into its infrastructure. Just like they spend millions in a nice looking modern stadium the city has to also invest in helping its homeless citizens. Establish education, training and assistance programs and help to abandon addiction. Drugs are the worst enemy of bright minds. Disgusting. Marihuana included, such stinky crap.
