I totally appreciate the videos it’s a way for people that wanna see how bad it can get. It’s been like that for decades as the drugs change so do the addicts . Keep the videos coming don’t listen to the negative comments ,I’m watching from northern B.C . You should do some after dark vids ?
Thank you for posting. I'd like to see similar videos of Victoria. I am a drug user and these videos are a stark example of how things can go so badly. I garuntee every one of these addicts started out having fun.
being homeless in vancouver and living on the streets is very difficult and its disgusting to see this people need help and no agencies or anything to help
No that not right at all, this fentanyl epidemic is now in its 7th year and millions have already been spent on everything from clean needles to housing to safe injection buildings and everything in between, the real issue is with Canada's reform bill creating a revolving door system of catch and release with low level criminals and addicts and the three year test program in B.C that started in January to legalize hard drug use, the police and medical practitioners have their hands tide as with these new laws in place they cannot legally force them off the streets and into treatment unless knife or gun violence is the cause, So again with the new laws, this leaves the addict to go to treatment of their own choosing, but most refuse to do this as the drugs are so strong and the thought of going through drawl pain from fentanyl is so scary to them they would rather die on the streets addicted than get help, which is why opioid deaths in this area have reached record numbers, and people are starting to think the new legal system and legal drugs are a mistake that has to go!!!
I was born in Burnaby and I've never seen Vancouver this bad..I remember going downtown with my mom a lot...going to Woodwards. ,Gastown..I moved up to Kelowna in 2000.i am glad I moved..
I just started watching these just a short time ago, and i am also aware that in January of this year B.C. started the three year long test program of legalizing hard street drugs and watching scenes like this just confirms my suspicions of just how messed up it is to legalize opioids, I hope the rest of the Canadian provinces see videos like this and does not follow suit...
It's unfair to the citizens to call these people 'Homeless' most are addicts and all know addiction = loosing whatever home you might have. Be it with family or otherwise THEIR taste for drugs will always lead to their and their home destruction.
One cold, wet December, in 2009, Misha Kleider grew tired of listening to pompous sociology professors at UBC and embarked on a 30-day field trip by becoming another homeless person on the DTES. The end result of Kleider's empirical study was a 65 minute documentary about the homeless, the ill, the addicted, and the poverty industry that claims to be helping them to survive. Kleider's main conclusion was that homlessness isn't the cause of drug addiction, it is drug abuse that causes homelessness, if you house the addicted the drug dealers will simply move into your social housing units. I feel sure that mayor Ken Sim has watched "Streets of Plenty" but, generally speaking, Kleider's message has fallen on deaf ears.
Only so much can be done. The cost of housing is so astronomical in Vancouver. It has a year-round climate (one of the healthiest climates and outside environments in the world). And it's often ranked the most liveable city on the planet. These are some of the things that help drive up the price of real estate in Vancouver. Also, the homeless tend to flock to mild climates.

If housing is so costly in Vancouver then bus them to a safe rural location East...
