Just two hours west of Winnipeg, and less than an hour from Brandon, Spruce Woods Provincial Park’s diverse landscape offers a unique mix of environments from grass prairies to forested areas and parkland. Among the experiences to be had in this park are its desert-like sand dunes, the Spirit Sands, and the eerie oasis, the Devil’s Punch Bowl.

Each site was selected for its unique natural features, geological history, or the wildlife that inhabits it. The series inspires a sense of awe and appreciation for Manitoba’s beauty-we hope it does for you too!
I am now 75 having spent the first 12 years of my life in Manitoba when I moved with my younger sister to California. But, I still call Manitoba home and appreciate these videos.
I spent my first 16 years in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, before moving to Victoria, BC on Vancouver Island, but I also think of Manitoba as Home, wishing I'd known about all these places while I lived there. I'm now 60.

I was a Christian, but I got mishandled by Gay Male Catholics who Loved Young Men. Leading a Boys Club and taking us Swimming, then joining us in the Showers and Picking One of us for some Private Special Treatment, and told it's a Sin to tell anyone. Ever wondered why Catholic Church Choirs are always just Boys? I've stayed away from religion since then.
And ALL of you left. Because MB is ugly.

I love Manitoba, I would like to go and work in that territory , as a forest engineer it inspire me.
They're desperate for workers in the north. Just living out there can be less ideal.

Great video on the Sandhills. I spent many times there as a teenager. Born and raised on a farm near Carberry. Beautiful place .

So glad my grandfather received 162 acres in Agassiz provincial forest for fighting in the war and past down the land to me. I keep it as pristine as possible and really enjoy being lost in nature. Natural berries and mushrooms, wood stove, pure well water, fresh air, all to enjoy while people cram into the tax hit cities and live in cramp quarters on top of each other just to have a cell phone and 5G radiation brain damage.... ;-)
There are beautiful wooded areas as well. The longer hikes are well worth it, as long as the weather is less than 35 Celsius. Take lots of water!

Used to be able to dirt bike there in the 70s,after the military from Shiloh was done using it as a target for their howitzers. Found shell fragments,even an old bayonet there.

The flaw with the information, is the fact that all of Southern Manitoba flooded in 1820s. The thousands of years statement is false. Awesome place to dirtbike and sled.

Looks amazing until you remember the bugs (mosquitoes) then I remember why I moved haha.
Two species of cacti? No... you don't say two species of sharks. It's two species of shark. After "of" it should be sungular, so brush up on both your English and Latin.
I appreciate them trying, but this place is dreadful. Spirit Sands is an ugly, pointless place but just somewhat interesting compared to the rest of MB.

It's a rich and varied microbiome that's almost unique in Canada. It's also a sacred site and a fossil of our geological past. What makes that pointless? Even just as a landscape the area is striking. Beautiful forests, rolling hills, some of the last grasslands on the continent, the Assiniboine valley. The area is splendid.
Not allowing natural forest and prairie fires to burn is what is speeding up the demise of this dune area. Important point overlooked.
