When I listen to this album I find it contains nothing but pure perfection. Purefection, if you will. Listening to Intronaut, I've found that there are many interesting musical ideas to take note of, such as the way they apply harmony to their riffs, how they construct grooves, create awesome atmosphere, have an awesome songwriting sense, etc. which have all contributed to making me a better musician. I consider them to be the best in their genre/style. On the other hand... maybe I'm just high.
I heard them open for Tool last Saturday, and they made an impression on me. They certainly are a band I have been looking into since then. Amazing vocals and drums as well as an all around good sound. I'll be watching for them more now.
1:50 is one of the greatest screams I've heard in music, just pure feeling. I notice that there is quite a bit of Mastodon going on here, which is nice (!), but they have certainly found their own sound on the albums following VoS, which is even better. :)
This scream is overdubbed with clean vocals or at least some tonal screams. This gives them that melodic and emotional vibe. I love it, too. You can hear this technique an Gojira albums a lot of times, goosebumps incoming. :-)
Mystery brought by the cracks in time And our skulls, and our backs We lay underneath you Obscured by centuries And cry in horror Haunted by the terror Half-charred, annihilated
Love the breakdown at the end of this song! This band is a great new addition to my favorites. Reminds me of Meshuggah sometimes, with their proclivity for playing time signatures within time signatures.
The only thing I can say these guys and Mastodon have in common is using maybe 7 lines of words to make a song and somehow stretch it for 7 minutes. Alot of bands can't even use a 1000 words and make a decent 2 min song haha. I love how they can mellow out the song then hit you in the face a sec later. Definately another fav band along with Gojira and Mastodon.
What a bizarre band, in the most awesome way. With my music tastes, I'm utterly stunned I haven't heard them before! What an odd combination, stoner doom, sludge, and djent? And that jazzy bass interlude with the polyrythmic drums, and the almost oceansize-ish shoegaze-ish guitars over the top, and an almost opeth-like song structure swaying between aggression and beauty. Wtf.
@Skat64er - One of the hardest things to learn about playing bass is that sometimes the simple thing sounds best and is best for the song. The basslines on Prehistoricisms were impressive, but I'm much more fond of this album because Joe is doing what's right for the song.
Probably my favorite current drummer, maybe besides Stanier (formerly Helmet, now Battles). Great band, will see them twice this year (ironically, next time with Helmet).
Things I like about this band: The vocals remind me of Augury, the guitars are low tuned and they feature both distorted and clean guitars, they feature the bassist more and the bassist has an interesting tone on his bass. The drummer is excellent.

This might be the best post metal song ever written

These guys are brilliant!! It's like my favourite bands in one!
just out of curiosity what are your favourite bands? because if they sound like intronaut i have to hear them
+Nicolas Meshuggah, Cloudkicker, Intronaut, Isis, Opeth, Tool, and many more!
+Darcelle Where do you live? Can I take you out? lol
the other Mastodon
Vocals remind me of Burton Bell from Fear Factory at times. Love the video!
This whole album is awesome.
This type of progressive metal is fucking amazing! need more of this! Animals as Leaders , Meshuggah and cynic and Intronaut, sickest bands!
I never liked Progressive Metal... Until this band. Thanks guys.
They fall more under post metal, check out more post metal if you want more similar sounds, tho there is really nothing like intronaut
one of my fav tunes by them, that outro is killer!
Danny Walker rules my life
these guys sound like Mastodon, I also so them open for Tool in Toronto, unreal show. The drummer did a duet thing with Danny, it was intense.
Totally has that crash and burn feel of old mastodon. Love it!
The drumming is something ELSE. Amazing song.
No doubt man, Intronaut fuckin killed it. They are so tight, great show in Pittsburgh and super nice guys as well. Cheers Intronaut!!
You're going to enjoy this musical journey my friend.

Their live show is a must see. This video doesn't do their performance justice. Great live band.

We lay underneath you
Obscured by centuries
And cry in horror
Haunted by the terror
Half-charred, annihilated
Saw these guys in Lyngby, Denmark a couple of months ago with Red Fang, Earthship and The Ocean. Great guys, great show, great night!
@jebrovah I think the vocals are GREAT!
Love the breakdown at the end of this song! This band is a great new addition to my favorites. Reminds me of Meshuggah sometimes, with their proclivity for playing time signatures within time signatures.
These guys are main obsession right now.
Live performance is where this band sucks you in. Seen them open for Tool years back and was impressed.
im glad i found these guys, i was almost completely out of metal music, couldnt find anymore, but wow, you never get sick of these guys.
