The urine from all of the homeless people in Minneapolis has a faint whiff of Pumpkin Spice this time of year. If you get a few blocks from Uptown on Lake Street, there are massive homeless camps. Not to mention, the destruction from the riots still hasn't been completely cleaned up. Minneapolis is a dump. If I didn't work there, I would avoid it like the plague...because contracting the plague is a possibility there.
Stephanie, I feel you are describing Minneapolis as it was pre-BLM riots. I used to feel safe going just about anywhere in the areas you have described, even at night. But now I won’t go to a downtown restaurant at night unless there is a major entertainment event taking place and there are large crowds present. Minneapolis is struggling to recruit and maintain an adequate police presence. So many of my suburban friends have stated the same thing. Now there are certain neighborhoods that I completely avoid driving through even in the daytime. Sadly many great restaurants have closed in the uptown area and downtown area due to losing a large portion of their regular customer base due to safety concerns.
You mean pre George Floyd murder by the same police force.

I hear what you’re saying and know other people feel that same way. I haven’t felt unsafe in the neighborhoods I highlighted in this video and feel extremely safe in the areas of minneapolis I frequent, but of course there are areas in many cities not just minneapolis where I don’t go - I just don’t have a reason to be there.
@mplsfarmer I did see some great restaurants close but I felt covid also played a strong part as did a change in parking in certain neighborhoods which unfairly impacted those businesses. I also am seeing amazing new restaurants popping up frequently and new businesses too, so I see the pendulum swinging in the other direction!
Great video. I currently live in crystal but considering moving to one of these areas just for the walkability. Tired of needing my car everywhere.
