I was just visiting there last week. My buddy lives about 10 blocks from Nokomis, and I played the pond hockey tournament there back in 2014. Extremely cold, but fun as hell! We took a tour across the area to see the nice homes along lake Calhoun and lake Harriet. All I could say was wow!!! Beautiful mansions along that lake. I from and live in Southern California and the state is pretty much becoming over priced shacks. Looked up a few of the mansions on Zillow. Pretty much nothing over $2 mill, but you get your moneys worth: Huge yard, good elbow room between neighbors. Every home had its own charm, no cookie cutter development crap. $2 mill in so cal gets you a dump with homeless people infesting nextdoor. I said to my buddy, if I won the lottery I would def a home in mid west than in the west coast.
I went back and looked, and sure enough, starting at about 5:14 we can see a billowing black cloud in the far left screen above the treeline across the lake. Eventually that smoke decreases and then disappears, but unclear on the chronology because there are a lot of cuts in the scene and it could have been rearranged when editing. But yes, now I'm curious too, what was burning on the far shore??? Doesn't appear to be standard industrial smoke, and I'm unaware of any factories in that area.
Hey friends! If you haven't watched my video on Southwest Minneapolis yet, check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/e9ylWVBwu1k/v-deo.html It's an excellent neighborhood with some very similar qualities to Nokomis!
